I'VE GOT A NAME FOR YOU! Cub Name: Marr (meaning swamp) Future Name: Ke'ir (meaning from the marshland) Personality: A get down, get dirty sort of fellow. Full of sass and vinegar, Marr loves to cause all kinds of shenanigans! He loves his swampie home and enjoys spending his time finding un-explored areas... Which tends to make his parents worry as Marr shows no fear as he heads straight in to trouble at every turn. He enjoys teasing his sister and loves to lead his other brothers to mischief. When caught, as he usually is, he then proceeds to plead the fifth. There is never a dull moment with him and if there was then you should be hiding 'cause something big is about to go down.

I'VE GOT A NAME FOR YOU! Cub Name: Gulli (Icelandic for 'gold', for his eyes and the symbol) Future Name: Blixtnedslag i-mina'ögon (Swedish for 'Lightning in my eyes' - I don't know why I am looking at Icelandic and Swedish translations xd ; ) Personality: Gulli is a fighter. Not in a bad sense, though. He aims to protect the pride, listening to stories(Post-naming) about the lion who slipped in and killed others. The very thought of somebody else doing that makes his blood boil, as he thinks of his mother and sister, as well as many trusting lions in the pride. Because of this, he is initially distrustful of strangers, even his own father at first.
BLUE-EYED WONDER Cub Name: Vit (Swedish for "White" - Again with the Scandanavian words... I dunno what it is xd ; ) Future Name: Jag'läka andra (Swedish for "I heal others") Personality Blurb: Vit has a keen interest in everything plant, and some species of snakes and frogs. His life goal is to become a healer, maybe the pride's first healer in rank if he can, due to all the dangerous things in their home. Despite growing up in a swamp home, he is deeply afraid of getting his coat dirty, especially with the mud in the swamp. Do you KNOW how much BACTERIA is in there?! .... *Ahem* Touch, too, is very off-putting to Vit, and he prefers to avoid it as much as he can, going so far as to sidestep anybody who wants to cuddle or lean on him. The lioness that can get him to let her touch him will be a very accomplished lioness, indeed! Entry: Vit stared at the strange creature for a bit, trying to wrap his mind around it. It had a mane like a lion... And in fact looked big like one... But it had a much smaller face, and a tail like a leopard. As he stared, the strange cat stared back, before the cub ran after his mother and wove under her legs. He was pretty sure he'd heard of that. It was a... Half-breed lion, of a lion and either a cheetah or a leopard. And it was against pridal laws. Why was it here? Didn't it know it'd get killed? What if someone more adult saw it? And why wasn't Mother reacting to it? As he considered the strange creature, it rose to its paws and left, apparently not willing to brave the swampland. Vit stopped again, watching it leave, and wondered for a moment... What was it like, to be a mix of something as social as a lion, and something as solitary as a leopard or cheetah? In a fleeting moment, the thoughts were gone as he realized his family was leaving him behind. With quick little strides, Vit hurried after his mother, brothers, and sister.

BLUE-EYED WONDER Cub Name: Isokisi ("socks") Future Name: Izwikhe'Fumana (Found His Voice) Personality Blurb: Isokisi is a hard cub to read, mainly because he doesn't talk. And never has. The smallest of the litter at birth, it took a long time for him to gain weight and was (most likely) the most worried about cub by his mother and the other females. Eventually he did, though, and was healthy enough to walk with his brothers and sister to be presented to the pride when the time came. The spoken words seemed to puzzle him, and when his siblings said their first words, Isokisi started making noises too. But he didn't speak. All that came out were squeaks and chirps, and nothing like actual language. It's unknown by the pride whether the spirits took Isokisi's voice for some reason, whether there is something wrong with his throat, or if Isokisi just prefers not to talk, content with the cricket sounds he makes to get attention. Despite his usual silence, Isokisi is a playful and happy cub, willing to get dirty with his siblings and other playmates, eager to see his daddy when the time comes around, and in general racing around the pridal lands with a huge grin on his face as he finds something else to get into. (When he turns adolescent and becomes a pilgrim, I will likely have him find his voice, as his adult name suggests, although I don't know how yet; might be a god gives it back to him, or he might just decide it is time to talk) Entry: Isokisi was the first to see his father approaching, gazelle held in his teeth, and climbed on a fallen log to chirp his greeting, before jumping off and headbutting his dad in the leg. Then he whipped around behind his father, picked up a stick in his teeth to drag behind as his dad held the gazelle, and followed him as he made his way to the rest of the family. Tarmha got most of the attention from Vaako, but Isokisi expected that. She was the only girl, after all, and even though she was really big, she was shy, and she probably needed the attention to help her come out of herself. Isokisi had tried to teach her to make the bug noises like he did, but she didn't seem to understand it. He decided it was best for their dad to give her a lot of attention - maybe when she was more comfortable being herself she could understand other things, the way he did. Their mom only had so much time to go around; they weren't like other families, and they had to take attention where they could get it. So Tarmha was welcome to daddy's. Isokisi had had enough attention when he was very tiny and everyone was always talking at him like he was stupid, so he didn't mind that Dad spent so much time with Tarmha. He had his own things too keep him occupied - like making the cricket noise right in Bokkie's ear to scare him, and then running away to hide behind the log and see if Bokkie would give chase.
Other cubs might think they were lucky to have two parents their all the time, but Isokisi liked it this way. He got to have more fun without a mom and a dad to track him down all the time and fussing over him. Life the way he had it was good.

I'VE GOT A NAME FOR YOU! Cub Name: Aiah - meaning 'Falcon', named for his colour Future Name: Drayven - from anglian form of 'draven', meaning 'hunter' Personality: As he grows, Aiah becomes a very serious male. He has seen how his father treats his only sister and his mother and since he idolizes Vaako as being the ideal male, he strives to do the same. He will always treat females differentially, as if they are something precious and fragile, which may get him into trouble with the pride's lionesses as he grows and starts to seek a mate of his own. Once allowed out on his nameing quest he will spend a long time out in the roguelands, learning to become independent and gaining experience, since he believes that he must be prepared for anything that may happen later in life. Only once he is fully grown and experienced as an adult will he return, slightly gruff and prone to silence over conversation, but a dedicated mate and protector to the female he eventually settles down with.

I'VE GOT A NAME FOR YOU! Cub Name: Kwanza (first) Future Name: Moto Mkali'Inataka (The raging fire seeks) Personality: Kwanza is the eldest, and as such he likes to think he's responsible for all of his siblings. What this translates to, though, is that he's a very bossy cub and something of a miniature commander. Albeit a commander who gets ignored a lot and throws hissy fits when his siblings don't do as he says. He's not a stupid boy, but he's not the most charismatic and can be blunt to an extreme. Once he grows up enough to go on his name quest, I believe that at some point he will run across a wildfire, which is where his adult name will come from - he will realize that his temper is something like a fire, and will eventually learn to control his cubhood hissy fits and turn his anger into something productive, raster than destructive.

I WANT SOME SPOTTY TAIL!Cub Name:Ikenna (Father's power) Future Name: Amadi (Free man) Personality Blurb: As a cub, he was named Ikenna to foster strength of will power and physical prowess. Because he certainly needed it. He wasn't weak, but the cub certainly wasn't as strong as his brothers or sister. Ikenna knew he was given that name not because he had his father's power, but because it was hoped he would somehow gain the strength through the name. He enjoys the company of others (as long as they are male), but isn't too worried about being left alone. This male doesn't particularly like females, due to his jealousy of his coddled sister growing up. He doesn't enjoy the idea of females being sought after or creatures who should be placed on pedestals. It doesn't mean he wont hold polite conversation with one or interact with other females, but don't expect him to be chivalrous or give them much attention besides fleeting fancy. He finds hobbies for himself. From digging to collecting or watching. Still retaining his masculine traits that can never be questioned. Up until his adult growth, Amadi will retain boyish charms. And blossom from his weaker physical form to that of a bulky and fit male lion. One that still busies himself with hobbies rather than go out hunting or chasing the tails of females. Entry:Quote: "It's that time of day! Mother takes you and your siblings on a walk near the familiar edges of the pride to meet with your father. It is a normal enough activity for your small family, but this time you notice something different. Just beyond the muds of the pride, you see an odd feline relaxing on the border. A hybrid of some kind. What do you do or think of this rare spectacle?" The swarm of boys knocked against each other and jostled in the little group they formed behind their mother and sister. With little Ikenna on the outskirts of the ragtag group, he playfully bumped into his brothers as he kept a watchful eye to make sure he wasn't pumbled accidentally. It was easy with these guys.
By this point the little boys knew each other's weak points. All Ikeena needed to do was distract Bokkie long enough, and he would trip over anything in his own path. The blue eyed brother lunged out from the wedge of bodies and sprung right onto Ikenna, flattening him. Instinctively the cub wailed in a mixture of pain and shock. It didn't take more than a fleeting glance over Mohana's shoulder coupled with a stern 'Stop that' to have the little rapscallions put into check.
The now silenced bunch dutifully fell into line behind their mother and sister, with Ikenna goose stepping purposefully to over exaggerate Bokkie's strut. And possibly get a few giggles from his brothers. But before long even Ikeena fell into step and remained silent as they trekked to the boarders to visit their father. He honestly wasn't all that excited. Narrowed eyes directed at the back of his eager sister's skull. She has every reason to be eager. Daddy loved her. Ikeena stopped fighting his other brother's for his affection awhile ago. Instead busying himself with other activities during these visits. Normally lingering away from the others as he explored the general area. Never trekking out of sight of his family members. And today was no different. As everyone magnetized to 'Pappa', Ikeena padded off to dig a hole or two. He didn't leave them behind out of spite, but boredom. There wasn't much fun watching Pappa shower all of his attention on his favorite two women.
Amber optics swiveled side to side slowly as the cub inspected the horizon. Scoping out any irregularities... wait, what was that? Wrinkling the bridge of his snout, the cub craned his neck forward. The cub's plush ears flattened against his skull. Squinting his eyes to make out the queer figure in the distance. Padding a little closer, the wavy image cleared a fraction. Distinctly... lion? No, this lion wasn't the same as Pappa or Momma. Ikeena made a passing glance over his shoulder back at his family before sinking down and trekking forward in his version of 'stealth mode'. laying flat on his belly, the cub finally settled comfortably, watching this stranger. And strange he was. The familiar mane which circled his head was paired with a slender body reminiscent to a cheetah. Ikeena was used to seeing bulky and muscular male lions... but this one looked fragile. 'Maybe he's starving?' The cub thought to himself, 'Yeah, thats got to be it...' He pursed his lips, turning away from the stranger, figuring it would be best not to other him much less call attention to this strange creature. Only housed with the knowledge of a child, the young one figures it best to leave this supposedly 'starving' lion alone on the outskirts of the pride. He clearly had much to learn.

I'VE GOT A NAME FOR YOU! Cub Name: Sy Future Name: SORIN (Romanian for 'sun') Personality: Sy figured things were a little different for him and his family from the start, but hasn't worked it all out in his cubby mind yet. He knows his father and uncle love him and his mama too, but they aren't the picture of domestic bliss. Yet he admires all of the adults in his family and works on trying to take the best of their traits to heart. He especially loves his sister, and can often be found in her company, standing silent guardian behind her. He includes her in their games, letting her get her scrapes with the rest of them if she wants to, but he is always there in case it gets to rough, or she needs a moment away from prying eyes to clean herself up. Sy will find her sweet smelling herbs for her fur and indulge her when she needs someone to experiment on for 'girl stuff' but low to anyone who makes fun of him for it. He even sometimes will nonchalantly place his tail tuff in her mouth when dad comes to see them until she feels comfortable. He's the brother you run to when you need some advice you just can't go to your parents or best friend about. The kind that not only would be in jail with you, but would help you hid the body and still clean up with you to make it to Sunday dinner with mom and dad.

I'VE GOT A NAME FOR YOU! Cub Name: Mukhya (First in Hindi) Future Name: Babanam’Kevalam (Love is all there is, in Sanskrit) Personality: Mukhya has always had a soft heart, even as a cub. He’s a big boy, and will grow to a truly massive size eventually, but even strength will not make him into a fighter. He’s the type that wouldn’t think of harming others, and even playing games as a cub, he often stops after batting one of his brothers in a play-fight to ask “Are you okay? Did I hit you too hard?” Mukhya will soon find that because of this, he is just not a fan of rough games. He’ll end up enjoying the company of his gentle sister Tarmha the most of all growing up, and he won’t care a bit if the other cubs tease him about it. If Mukhya is anything, it’s secure about who he is. There will never be a time in his life where he hates himself or wishes to be something else, although he will have moments of doubt when things are particularly trying. Usually he is at peace, and has an air of serenity about him that is difficult to disrupt. Even in his most difficult times, Mukhya rarely loses his temper, and he’s apparently capable of tolerating all sorts of things that might make most lions lose it.
