Ru blinked once, hard at Yu's declaration that the lioness crouching in the dirt was his mother. It was not easy to picture her that way, but he supposed there was a certain resemblance between them, if he looked for it. Certainly they were both dark, and Ru knew that Yu was another lion who had won his place in the pride through an askorun. So perhaps it was not so very unbelievable that this pregnant female could be Yu's mother.
"I see," was all he said on the subject. It was better not to go into what he would want and not want for his own mother. His feelings on that subject were very complicated, and not relevant to this conversation.
He could also see how the situation could be turned into an embarrassing one for him, but he didn't doubt that the tale would still be told at some point and that he would have to endure a certain amount of ribbing. The important thing was how he chose to deal with that eventuality, and that was something he would have to determine when the time came, for now was not the time to plan such things.
"I'm happy to have facilitated your reunion, in that case," he said. "And now I will leave her in your very capable, caring paws and be about my business."

The larger male gave a nod, beginning to turn his mother towards the dens. Before they got far, though, he paused, glancing back. "And Ru... Thank you. If you so wish, I will tell everybody that you saved her from an uncertain fate."
It was Shetani's turn to pause, looking at her son, then her would-be captor. "I think it was fate... That's why he was there when I got here... A good fate." She then turned, starting off again with Yu close behind.

"It is all one to me what you tell them," Ru muttered as he moved away, but at a proper volume he said, "That wouldn't make for as exciting a tale. But I would appreciate it."
And then he really did turn to go, not hearing what his erstwhile thrall said to her son as he set off at a more rapid clip. They were headed in more or less the same direction now, but Ru had a different destination, ultimately, and that was where he headed.
After that, a healer and then to find some water to soak in and some mint to take the edge off of things. Maybe the mint first, actually.
