Kati slid underneath the white cub who had overshot his target and stretched her neck, straining to get the slimy creature. She almost thought she wouldn't make it, since the frog had begun to leap away from her, but she just snagged one of its legs in her teeth. Grinning around it victoriously, Kati quickly got a better grip on the frog, and placed it where it would be safe and counted as hers before she got back into the game.
Adrenaline pumping through her, Kati quickly dashed towards the next frog, hoping to ambush it. In all her excitement and zeal, she ran right past the frog, scrambling to turn around in the mud. She slipped and slid all over the place, leaving an opening for someone else to get the frog while the young lioness tried to regain control of her momentum and her feet.

It was getting hectic! While some of the competitors seemed frozen in place, new ones started to appear! Riddi watched as one newcomer stole a frog straight out the air with elegance. Frowning a bit, the boy raced forward to make his attempt at snaring the new frog. Bounding at it only after one female skidded past it.

Elvis leapt after the newest frog, unable to believe his bad luck so far and unwilling to attribute it to anything other than misfortune. Surely it had nothing to do with a lack of skill on his part. No sir! He didn't know what he could have done to annoy the spirits so badly though.
He didn't have much time to reflect on the possibility before another frog put in an appearance. As he had done with the others, he darted after this one, this time making a less spectacular-looking leap than before, but a more direct one aimed at where he thought the frog would go instead of where it already was.

Coatl made a pathetic noise, leaping after the next frog. This was DEFINITELY an off day for her! But....SHE WAS PERSISTENT! She wasn't giving up! Dege would tease her when he got back if she did!

 Phailin watched as each frog was caught. Her eyes narrowed as she spotted another one that was close to her. She shimmied down, getting into a usual stalking position her mother had taught her. It really amused the light green lioness that she too, was the colored of the frogs. She was curious to see if she could actually jump like one, and catch it. Instead of trying for the first few frogs that everyone had been going for, she waited for the best one. With a quick cublike growl, she pounced, hoping its slimy body would not slip through her paws.

Elvis practically crowed with delight when his sharp little teeth came together centimetres away from the last frog, scaring it into his claws. He finally caught one. Instead of crowing he did a quick and impromptu hip thrust of pride and returned to the oh-so-serious business of frog catching. Now that his luck had changed, he knew the spirits would help him catch more frogs. Maybe if they all sat on a frog it would be slowed down...

Kati continued to slip and slide around in the mud after overshooting one of the frogs. Not being able to get her paws under her, she barely noticed the next frog, and when she tried her best to make a leap at it, she simply gave a floppy little hop and landed face down in the mud. Wiping the mud out of her eyes, she saw the white and purple cub who'd won the race snatch the frog. 'I won't let him win this one!' she thought with good-natured competitiveness.
The grey and red cub decided to be slow and precise this time. That' what had gotten her the first frog. She spotted the next on, and hid behind a clump of reeds again. She crouched and very carefully inched closer behind it, gradually picking up speed. Sh came closer at a lope and gave a small jump, overjoyed to find the frog clutched under her paws.

The frog she had been going for slipped right out of her paws. Apparently, she wasn't the greatest frog catcher as she thought she would be. With her pale blue eyes focused on another of the green amphibians, the likewise green lioness made her move; however, the clumsy cub had tripped, and before she could go after the frog again, it was gone.

Catching his second frog so pleased and delighted Elvis that he didn't even realize that he had missed the appearance of another frog. Or perhaps it was simply that his celebratory antics had cost him valuable seconds in going after it. Either way, Elvis had no chance at catching the frog which had emerged just after his second capture.
He had to watch with a slight frown as one of the girl competitors caught that frog. Not that he actually saw her bring it down. That had happened entirely too quickly for him to see, but he could tell that everyone else had jumped one way and yet only one had emerged with a frog. How many frogs had she caught? What about everyone else?
Elvis had not been keeping track at first because he had blithely assumed that he would be the victor and catch every frog that appeared, and even after that proved not to be the case he still had not been paying attention to who caught frogs and how many everyone had, but now he wondered if his two-frog streak would be sufficient.

Phailin gazed around, noticing the other cubs had been catching the frogs. What was she doing wrong? She blinked a few times, watching as each youngster took their turn. Maybe if she copied what they were doing, things would go better for her? Laying her eyes on another frog, she began to mimic the other cubs. With a small leap, and a handful of nothing a moment later, she realized that that wouldn't work.
