-has so been reading Njalo rps- She's so adorable ;-;

Oh, question! Are all the cubs in this litter going to be considered Lusizi, since Matifu is dead?
PostPosted: Fri Oct 14, 2011 12:53 pm

Yes and no!

Gakere is Matifu's son, so that causes some mixed feelings amongst females. It will probably vary a lot from female to female, especially since Matifu was ruling when Njalo had her cubs. And that can be something you can explore in RP.

For the male side of things, Gakere is a much more open-minded leader in that sense than his father. So, as far as I know, he would tend to treat them the same as other cubs.

They will likely be viewed in higher esteem than other cubs that are completely rogue-male bred by most, though. And since Gakere has no cubs of his own right now, cubs that are at least partially related to him are probably pretty well liked.

Haaaa. Njalo rps are about 85% hysterical. She's such a dumbass. I love her though.

And I totally agree with Kael. If you have questions, definitely ask away! I tried to cover everything I thought might need mentioning, but if one person is wondering about something that might not be listed in the information, it's possible there are others wondering the same thing.

I look forward to doing Njalo/Matifu rp. Nahmba ate up all her attention in their last rp. XD

Kael is the authority on ranks! The rank guide would make them Lusizi, due to being the offspring of an overthrown leader, but since they ARE related to the new leader, it's a little different. It probably is dependent, in a large part, on Gakere's reception of them, which, in this case, is a good thing.

Gakere won't harbor any particular dislike for these cubs. They are his half siblings, after all, and he's always been a family male, so he'll probably take on a more distant, fatherly role. ;D

Male cubs, however are always Lusizi, until they grow up and earn a different rank, or leave the pride and become rouges. What HAS changed, as far as I know, are their future options, as Gakere's not going to just kick them out when they grow their adult mane, like Matifu would have.

@Neon: Of course! He'll be eager to meet with all of the females, though any that were ICly in the pride before he became an adolescent should know him, at least remotely, since there really weren't other male cubs about during those years.

.:GIMMIE THAT BANANA BOY!:.
Name: Dhahabu'mchanga
Meaning: Gold sand
Personality: While he puts on a happy face, Dhahabu hides how uneasy everything makes him. It's not something he can entirely help, either. He's a worrier, often worrying that the grasses will catch fire, or the river will flood and sweep everyone away, or giant flying rocks will zap his family and carry them off into the unknown. Around every rock, log, or tree, in every bush, he'll think he sees the shadow of some dangerous rogue or other predator. There are, of course, things he DOESN'T worry hugely about. He's very confident that, once he's an adult, he'll find his place in the world.

Outside spending time with his family and eating, Dhahabu enjoys a good conspiracy theory.... As long as it doesn't mean doom!

Prompt Number: 2
Prompt Response: Habu sat down, watching as a pair of lionesses walked by him. As they padded away, he could hear them murmering about 'that poor little Lusizi,' glancing at him very pointedly. His ears folded back in frustration. He'd asked his mother what it meant... The explanation had been almost no-existant. The cub finally got up, padding away from where the lionesses were heading, findng himself a spot to hide and be by himself.

He hadn't realized he'd fallen asleep until he opened his eyes and noted the passage of the sun. He also noticed something else... Staring him in the eyes was a young klipspringer. The cub gave a start, scrambling back, before watching the little klipspringer skitter off. He swallowed, panting, before crawling out of his hiding spot to look around.

Where had the klipspringer gone off to? He frowned, before... There it was! He went padding over, poking it with a paw. "Hey... I didn't mean to scare you there!"

The klipspringer looked up at him, eyes wide. "I didn't mean to surprise you like that..." It edged closer to him. "It's just that... That... I'm all alone out here... My momma told me to hide yesterday, and never came back..."

The cub's ears fell as he looked at the little klipspringer sadly. "I'm sorry..." He thought a moment, then sat down next to it. "If it helps any, I have problems, too."

"You do? How can a lion have problems...? You're at the top of the food chain."

"Because..." He hesitated. "See... My dad, he used to be the top ruler of the pride, but another beat him... He didn't survive. Now there's a bunch of lionesses calling me a Lusizi."

The klipspringer looked at him funny. "A what?"

"I dunno what it is... But it's a bad thing, I got that much." He sighed, laying down. "I don't like them calling me that..."

The little klipspringer cuddled up to the lion cub, seeking to some joint comfort for them both. "Aw, don't let them get to you... You still got one parent, right?"

"Yeah, I still got my momma, and my brothers and sisters..."

"Then cheer up! Just look at each day as a blessing!"

Habu smiled a bit. "Okay... Hey, what's your name, anyway?"

"Vidogo'kwato. What about you?"

"Dhahabu'mchanga. Why don't you stick close to me? I can keep you safe!"

Kwato's face lit up. "Okay! We'll be the bestest of friends!"

Habu grinned himself. "Yeah!" He got up, leading his new friend back to the pride.

I had fun doing that xd And reading up on the pride heart *Has had nobody to really send to it and was busy during the big semi-custom thing a couple months back*

.:I WANT SOME BLUE EYES!:.
Name: Ukusa
Meaning: Dawn
Personality: A serious cub, Ukusa is sensitive to the currents of tension in the pride and worries greatly that it will affect her mother and family. She may not understand what's going on, but it makes her sigh as she explores her surroundings. Truthfully, she likes to explore just so that it gets her away from all the negative emotions. Then, she feels she can be carefree and happy like any other cub. She feels jealousy towards those siblings that can just ignore the unhappiness of the adults around them, but would never speak of that aloud. She'll just bear her burden in silence and look for ways to get a few moments to herself whenever she can.

Prompt Number: 3
Prompt Response: Ukusa had managed, once more, to slip away from the watchful eyes of her mother and other adults and be by herself. She felt freer and happier already and was improvising a little dance out of sheer joy. Her eyes were closed and she was jumping around when suddenly her paws landed not on the hard ground, but on something...else. It was kind of squishy, but was warm as the sun-baked earth beneath it. And it smelled.

Annoyed at this interruption of her private fun time, Ukusa opened her eyes to glare at the thing. The cub's expression softened immediately as she recognized the thing as another lion. Except no lion she knew had holes in their hide like that where you could see their squishy bits and bones.

Safe to say this one was dead. The brown and white cub nervously took a few steps back, onto the firm ground once more and off of the corpse. She'd never seen a dead lion before and felt a bit sick, though that could just be from the rank odor. As Ukusa backed away further, the head came into her field of vision.

Blue eyes jolted wide open with a start of recognition. She had seen this lion before! She remembered being small at the time (well, smaller than she was now) and looking up at it - him! She'd felt safe, knowing he was protecting her. And she remembered snuggling up to his massive paw, a farewell to her father-

Her father.

This was her father's body. Rotting away. Gone and perhaps soon to be forgotten. Ukusa wasn't certain if she wanted to remember him or not, she knew he was somewhat responsible for the way some lions looked at her and her siblings funny, calling them Lusizi. His corpse here seemed to symbolize everything she feared most in her short life.

The cub backed a few more steps away from the dark and ominous hulk of her father's body. She glanced around furtively and, seeing no one else around, turned tail and ran back to her mother.

Today may have been a strange day, but her mother would love her and cuddle her and probably give her a bath without asking any scary questions that Ukusa didn't want to answer or even think about.

Methinks I should read up more on the pride. ^^; But is it just me or is it hard to look around the masses of stickies and announcements to learn things? >>;

.:GIMMIE THAT BANANA BOY!:.
Name: Julile'hle
Meaning: Deep Reflection (Reflection as in thought, or pondering)
Personality: Julile'hle is rather quiet, always thinking his words through carefully before saying them. He is never careless, and spends a great deal of time lost in his own thoughts, assuming that he is somewhere where he knows he will be safe. This isn't to say that he doesn't enjoy being active and playing, though. He loves new experiences and is always looking for new things to understand and ask questions about. In a word, philosophical.

Prompt Number: 4 (Technically. Mostly 2 with a little of 1)
Prompt Response: The young lion sat in his usual spot, on a rather small, flat rock slightly north of the area where the rest of his siblings played together in games of chase or wrestling or various other things. He watched the proceedings curiously for a time, considering the possibility of joining in and weighing it against slipping away from mother once again to find something more interesting to do.

He flicked his tail and glanced around, suddenly puzzled by the fact that he did not immediately see his mother. A quick look behind him revealed the reason why, and Julile'hle was hardly surprised to see that his mother was paying no attention to him or the rest of his siblings, but chatting happily with one of the other females.

Perfect.

He used this convenient distraction to slink off through the grass, padding softly toward the area where the rest of the adults liked to lounge when not hunting or watching their children. Today, he was on a mission, a very specific one. He wanted to find out what that word meant... Lusizi? Yes, that was the one. The inquisitive cub loved learning new words and what they meant, but he had not heard one used with such disdain before, especially when it was directed at him! This matter needed to be settled quickly, and unfortunately he knew that asking mother wouldn't solve much. She and the other nice lionesses who were her friends never used that word, so he could only assume they didn't know what it meant, or they didn't like it and didn't want to talk about it.

"Excuse me." He hurried up to one of the females who didn't appear busy, trying to catch up with her and her long strides. Even though she was only walking, his tiny size meant he had to work a little. "Do you have a minute? I have a question."

The lioness stopped and looked down at him, her eyes narrowing slightly when she saw who was addressing her. "Oh, it's one of the new Lusizi... Hello." She huffed. "Well hurry it up then."

"Thank you, that's actually what I wanted to ask about." He said calmly, ignoring the obvious disdain in her voice. "That word that you just called me, Lusizi. What is the meaning of it?"

The lioness smirked and turned to continue walking, "You seem smart, figure it out for yourself." And with that, she wandered away, leaving Julile'hle sitting on his own, thinking. Why would she sound so mean but say something nice like that? Another mystery to solve, but not today. Today he had to figure out this Lusizi business. He flattened his ears against his head as he concentrated, deciding that the lioness might have a point. He should figure it out himself. With a curt nod and a new look of determination on his face, he started back in the direction he came from, sneaking back past his mother - still talking, but with a different lioness - to get back to his thinking spot.

Now, Lusizi... It's not a good thing, at least that is what it seems like, but nobody is making them leave or not giving them food. Maybe it is only a name, but doesn't mean anything? Well it has to mean something... Or does it? Even if it does mean something... If it is a bad word, then why say it? Does it really matter what it means if I am never going to say it to anyone? And if I ignore the mean things everyone says, because they are just words? A good point to consider. Maybe it isn't worth spending all this time on something that is not important. If it isn't useful, then it doesn't matter and if it doesn't matter, then he should not spend the time and energy to bother with it.

Strange, he had never considered the fact that some things might not be worth knowing. Fascinating. He would have to make sure that the information he is learning holds value before wasting precious time on it.

But now it was time to play, Julile'hle decided. He had learned something both unexpected and important, so he could take a break and play some games with his brothers and sisters.

"Matifa!" He shouted, bounding straight for his sister and instigating a wrestling match upon contact, giggling all the while.

What a day it had been.

As far as I know, editing is just fine. Neon would be the resident expert on that, though.
