He really only needed an excuse to socialize and off he went. The east house had suffered somewhat, leaving very few members about to pull things together. Things were difficult, of course, but spirits were high enough. Adversity was a good whetstone for sharpening the wit and skills of any individual or group. That was the attitude presented and that's what he was going to stick to.
Lu Xun loped into the fray of activity, pleasant conversation, and eager, smiling faces with a confident bounce in his step. He was small of a male and he lacked much of the muscular build that a warrior would typically boast but his branching limbs were nimble and his eyes were twin pools of confidence. A smile held his maw and touched his expression, giving him an almost cubbish expression as he chose a seat towards the front of the collective.
Beside him, a lovely ebony and ivory pelted lioness. Unfortunately for Suzhen, her moment for smiles had imposed itself a little early on. "A good day for a wedding, don't you say?" He greeted her, a little informal perhaps but she didn't look entirely comfortable. "It's been long since we've had a reason to come together."

It seemed like, all of the sudden, a lot of people were here. Ping frowned, laying his ears back as he glanced about. And he looked like he was the only one eating, too! Well, a leopard had shown up, and grabbed a couple hares for himself and someone he could only assume was his mate, but they didn’t look like they were eating yet. In fact, the female was… writing? That was a little fascinating, because Ping could not write. It was actually pretty cool.
He might have wandered over to ask, but the area was getting fuller and it was harder to move and… Well, the lord of the north arrived. The black and white male blinked dumbly at the sight, and then gaped slightly when the former emperor himself appeared. And now they were talking. They were so… big. He was so distracted just looking at the two red males that he failed to properly make way for two lions as they pushed past him. Amusingly, one had his name, but he had no way to know that yet. “Oh, sorry!” He apologized awkwardly, shuffling away for the other Ping and her father to find a place to sit.
-
One thing Weisheng wanted was the approval of his family. Except his father, he didn’t care for his father. He did admire his aunt, and gandparents, however. So he had made it a point to appear, in hopes of somehow striking up a conversation with them. He had once had the ‘pleasure’ of meeting his grandfather face-to-face, though it had been an accident. Wei Gang had not appeared bothered by him, and even told him a useful little factoid about fighting, but apparently he had failed to really impress the firekin.
Now he was older and much stronger, and perhaps could impress his family somehow. When he arrived at the theatron, he scanned it for faces, and, indeed, saw Ahali’bagawa. He also saw that the former emperor was busy, which shot down his hopes of conversing with him. Weisheng scowled slightly, and continued to browse the crowd. He saw… his brother, over there in the back. It felt like it had been a while, so he began to head that way.
Then he saw his sister up front, among many others. Oh. Maybe that wasn’t the best place for her to be. He would have changed his direction and headed there, but then another male approached his sister. Weisheng tilted his head, and considered perhaps being a good brother and going over there to investigate. But that would mean walking past the former emperor, and the lions from the North. And he wasn’t a good talker. So he continued over towards his brother. “Hey,” He greeted once he reached Zhao Yun. “Having fun?” It was at least a half sincere question.
-
Wei Gang smirked, tail swishing idly behind him. He vaguely noted that other lions were arriving, and considered securing a good spot to seat himself. Then he remembered that if he wanted to sit somewhere that was occupied, he could make it be unoccupied. As for Sheng… “A pity. She smells better.” He sniffed the air, to prove his point.
Now he turned and fixed his gaze on Sheng’s sons for a few moments. He had seen them before, after all, the former emperor enjoyed haunting the North somewhat. It was more suited to his tastes than the other houses, and he liked to make sure they did a decent job of training. But admittedly, they had grown quite a bit. Particularly the younger one, who he had only seen at a distance.
He looked almost as though he might say something to them, but turned back to Sheng. “How fares the North, then? Are you the only ones?”

Yun had caught sight of his sister entering on her own, her eyes everywhere and her body tense. The poor thing... at least she had the nerve to sit towards the front and get herself into the center of the mix. For him, quiet observation was just as good, if not better. There were a lot of strange faces here and for him, observing the interaction was almost as enlightening as direct interface.
A familiar face broke from the crowd and started his way. In response to the warm welcome he sat himself up a little taller and offered his brother a wide smile.
"Weisheng, good seeing you." He snorted at the inquiry and swept a glance further downwards. "I suppose you might say that. Our family grows once more. Always a joyful event, and I'm eager to see how this plays out."
He motioned to the seat beside him. "And you?"

"Now, there would be a problem if you preferred my scent to hers." Sheng smirked. "Though, that would only prove my point further, but I am sure you have all but forgot about that." What amused him that even though they would both throws jabs and punches, neither of them seemed to carry out much of a swipe but rather a flick of a tongue to one another. They would rather insult than actually fight. "I am also sure your wife would love to hear that comment about her beloved sister."
Xun sighed at his father. "Father..."
"Right, right." Sheng had agreed prior to coming that he would behave, specifically to his wife, Fu Ren, and that he would not cause trouble that would diminish any chances Xun had at keeping his title and not losing face to the new rulers of the pride. The new Lord had a lot riding on this event and it would be in the best interest of his father's to actually behave and not piss off anyone.
"The North does well, the members grow short. We shall have to recruit more members before the next migration. I had invited others and they shall come at their own pace, I would believe. Until then, three of the royal family should suffice, no?"
Dohzou lost interest in the conversation shortly after the two elders decided to have a measuring contest. Taking a look around, he figured it would be in his own best interest to have others of the other houses to know the young Duke. "Excuse, me father, your majesty, brother." With a dip of his head, he made his way through the Theatron to mingle with the other members of the pride.

Primitus smiled his most gentle when a young cub approached, bowing gracefully to her with a warm, kind smile.
"Good day, little one. I trust you are well?"
His golden eyes sparkled in a gentle amusement-- he was enjoying himself and even wished Kipofu was there -- But now was a time for decorum and good manners, and the male knew even young deserved the respect of an adult, giving Zhenzeng his attention.

So caught up in the festivities, Ping could hardly tell one face from another, though she did pick out - of course - the lions who were important among the group. Big, red lions, to be exact.
She was quickly distracted, however, by an apology from a handsome black and white male with the brightest green eyes she had ever seen. Her own family were very muted in colour with their whites and greys and pale, teal eyes. She laughed off his apology and gave him a polite shake of her head. "No need to apologise! Too many pride members and not enough space. It warms my heart to see the turn out."
She momentarily forgot about her father and dipped her head in introductions. "I am Ping, of East House."
Behind her, her father gave a low growl as he tried to shoulder past. For the moment, though, his daughter refused it. "And this delightful lion is my father, Bai Bo."
This introduction would be slightly more unusual than most, what with the shared name and all.

He felt... Weird. It was off for Rasul to be clean. Usually, he was horribly filthy and smelly to go with it, but this morning he'd taken the time to actually go to the river and BATHE. As he padded along, the brown lion shook himself out. He was so used to his mane being a mess, his fur scruffy... He felt, as strange as it was, naked. Like his layers of filth were clothing.
His claws clicked on stone as he climbed to a spot, settling near Ryger. Maybe sitting close would help him absorb some of the other lion's knowledge about being a guard. His old job was... Easier? Maybe. Just grab and torture, maybe kill. This actually took more concentration. He rather liked it, actually, having to think about things he was doing. It left him feeling accomplished every time he did something, where before, it was... Mindless. Taking a second name seemed normal enough, though. He let out a puff, running the chosen name over in his head again. Hong'lei... It amused him a bit. Wild goose thunder... Maybe he'd get someone to chase him at some point, go on a wild goose chase...
Rasul shifted, claws pricking the stone, before he reached up and scratched. He was already getting bored here.

Oh this was so exciting! Noora, recently dubbed Xúnqiú Zhìhuì, made her way into the area, looking for a good seat. She wouldn't miss the wedding for the world! After all, this sort of thing was best taught from experience. A wedding like this, of two from royal bloodlines...it was sure to be a wedding to remember! (And it made her miss her parents a little...but she'd seen no sign of them in seasons...) It was then that she spotted a little cub near a larger lion. Oh!" The East House member made her way over, hoping to make a new acquaintance and to keep an eye on the little one (where were her parents?).
"Good day, to the both of you." She smiled calmly, then quirked a brow at the cub. "I hope you're staying out of trouble, little one?"

Such a big event it was already, as the Lady of the East House made her way in - hoping that she was not as late as she felt she was, having goaded her Head Adviser to leave before her and make a grand entrance while she watched from afar, making sure that it was good enough for her to join also. It felt a little . . . remarkable to hold her head as high as the Lords and Ladies of the other houses, having joined them when her dear parents had retired as main heads - giving the reins over to their daughter.
Clearing her throat, she strolled right in, looking around for something that would help her start mingling, she busied herself in walking towards a group, her head held in high respects, but bare besides the feathered earring she had adorned since youth.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chi JiuChi Jiu was having an equally interesting time in the wedding arrivals, having opted to become of the few southern representatives available to show up - a young Lord, possibly hoping to mingle with the ladies of other ranks and families, in hopes of producing a marriage or children to repopulate his home. It had been many months since he and his family had braved the elements together, and he intended to try flourishing what he had worked with them for so long to create.
But unlike his lifelong friend, he had brought a partner, an adolescent who had appeared to be slightly misplaced, but was well learned and easy to talk to on their way there, so he let the youth follow.
"Welcome to the wedding grounds." He murmured to the adolescent, who's eyes were like saucers - well the one he could see over the unruly mane that he sported - making the Lord assume he was from central - or the Eastern House.
"It's beautiful." Salga answered a short moment afterwards, taking a few steps from the redstained lion he had had the pleasure of meeting, his eyes dancing over all the mortals before him, his own mortal body mingling in with the footfalls. It was weird, not having his heavy wings showing, or his whispering fire tail.
But he was fine with the change, it allowed him to be accepted in this group of rag-tag lions, to enjoy their traditions and stories, fuel for ages, and wiling to impart in some wisdom, secretly, while they were not looking. The Inspiration God was always doing this - being a youth forever had it's perks.
Clearing this throat, he looked up to his guide momentarily, before looking back. "You look a lot like the pride, it's pretty close, colour wise." he admittedly, chortling softly.
"Yes, but there are many pelts of all colours in this pride - the heads just happen to be very red and white shaded. Mine is a little different, as some of them are set by the fires of the desert, where they began." Chi Jiu admitted softly, watching the groups come and go, sitting close to the so-called youth. "My family was from an oasis, not too far, but still off the beaten path."
"Sounds wonderful, at least." Admitted his young friend, as he turned his face up, a silver eye regarding the duke before turning back. "I also love weddings, they're the start to the greatest stories - whether good or bad - the binding of two hearts for a lifetime - and considering the hierarchy, it'll affect the pride, too, wouldn't it?" he asked, making Chi second guess his friend's age, wondering how one could be so versed. . .

She blinked up at the large lion for a few moments, her tail swishing idly behind her. Zhenzhen was trying to place him in her mind, but was forced to come to the conclusion he was from another house. “I’m okay! How ‘bout you?” She tilted her head, and was about to ask who he was, when another lion showed up.
She turned her head and made a face. “’Course I am! I wouldn’t get in trouble here!” She purred, innocently. Maybe she might pounce a few tails, but that was all!
-
If the former emperor was at all bothered by Sheng’s words, he didn’t show it. He probably didn’t even care; the other male had never gotten do him before, it was unlikely they would start to now. “It was not so much a comment on how good Fu Ren smells, but on how poorly you do.” He said coolly, and glanced briefly at the duke (as far as he knew) that called Sheng’s attention.
“Perhaps you should take a group out and find some new blood, then.” He suggested, and when Ahali suggested things they were always half an order. It was important to keep their North strong, in the event of trouble from the outside world. Or, even the inside.
-
He smiled, because at least this lioness was friendly! She didn’t seem bothered at all by his initial lack of manners, which made Ping feel more at ease. “Yes! I like seing all the new faces.” This is where he would have asked her name, but she supplied it, helpfully.
At first he only blinked, then chuckled. “What a coincidence! I am Ping, of the West house. It is nice to meet you two.” He grinned dumbly, amused.
-
It was good to see his brother again, and Weisheng happily took a seat beside the white male. He was equal parts jealous of his brother’s pelt, and glad he didn’t have it. Being so similar to his family provided the red lion some pride, but it was also a clear sign of his being a b*****d. Which wasn’t too pleasant, and he was sure his Aunt didn’t like the association.
“I am, I suppose. I had hoped to speak to our grandfather…” He trailed off, glancing at the large lion down front. He was hard to lose track of. “Or even the Lord of the North. I was hoping to procure some more training.” The west hose was, after all, not a house for fighters. Weisheng wasn’t very smart, he was definitely a fighter.

The new Lord nodded to the former emperor in agreement. "Now that my father is free of his duties, he should be more than willing to find new members." Sheng simply gave a defiant scoff to the remark. The audacity to think his son was starting to give him orders. "Him alone should suffice in procuring some members for the other houses, should they deem worthy. At the very least, word of our pride will be on the open winds." Xun liked the idea of the pride's presence reaching out to the others out there. The stories he was told from the Major made his mind wonder who else was out there and if they were worth the attention of the pride and if any were a danger...
"How fares the Central House?" Xun asked.
Sheng smiled with approval to know that his son was taking the title to heart and working to prove that he is worthy of it. Still, both he and Fu Ren agreed that he would remain nearby to always give a paw when their son faltered.
Dohzou sat himself down before a small kill. He was famished since the early morning wake and the trip here. Perhaps a snack would be nice. The young Duke of the North kept eyes and ears open for any conversations that would peak his interest.

Shuzhen froze, for a moment pretending the male had been talking to someone else. There really was no need for conversation with her, was there? She had just had so much on her mind and... her eye slid to the side. He was still standing there, and judging by the look on his face he was indeed talking to her. She grimaced. Here it comes, the awkward attempt at... appearing normal, she supposed.
Her eyes closed. She did it out of habit, but it had the side effect of making her look like a snob. Indeed, this was something occasionally said of her. "If they are serious about the marriage, the day should not matter. At worst, a poor day would simply save them the burden of entertaining."
Ignoring the fact that, with most ceremonies of this scale, the idea was rarely just about the marriage bond. It was about affluence and power. Rank and tradition. Her paws shifted. Somewhere in the back of her mind she was struggling to remember all the things she needed to do when she returned home. Instead, she swallowed and made a painful attempt at smiling.

(I'll try to go back and read stuff, just want to post these two for their 'jrp' post) Rumbidzai bumbed behind some of the group that had come from the north, the little juvenile a little terrified at everything. She had become spearated from her parents, and a strange figure had guided her to these lands safely. Once she had crossed into the North's territory, the figure that had helped her vanished. Knowing that she wasn't a threat, she was permitted to stay in the north, but she had a lot to learn.
She did her best to be in the shadows of the large, bulky adults, listening to them exchange pleasantries with one another with their strange names. Her nose wrinkled as she tried to figure out how to say her own name - Língchén, as she was found before dawn.---- Nara (Yèlǐ) of the South was anxious about the wedding - it was the first big thing since she had come to these lands. The South is where she had stumbled in, and they had been gracious enough to accept her in. She had wanted to get away from her family, as it seemed to have fallen apart. Instead of being brave and facing it, she had run away. Being here...adjusting to the new name and the new region in which she lived with was a change, but she was safe. Protected. Fed. It was worth it.
Few of the South were here yet, but she settled herself down to wait for the wedded pair to appear, her violet eyes taking everything in.

Primitus chuckled.
"Pouncing is hardly misbehaving at all, as long as it is appropriate. And I'm well, thank you." He bowed his head, looking to the older face.
"Pleased to make both of your acquaintances."
It was nice to be out amongst others, and no staring! Primitus deftly fetched a bit of food for his conversation partners and himself, settling.
"I do hope this will be a happy wedding."

Xúnqiú smiled at the little leotah, resisting the urge to comment on how adorable the little one was. "That's good. This is a very special day, after all. And just think...once you're older, you can say you've been to the wedding of an Emperor and Empress!" She nodded to the lion. "Pleased to make your acquaintances as well. I am Xúnqiú Zhìhuì, of the East House." She looked back to the little one. "But Xúnqiú is just fine." No sense in tangling the little one's tongue.
