[1 v 1] What is it really for? (Yin and Lady Hel)

“Exactly.” Was all Hel returned, gritting her teeth as Yin tried to hit a spot on her arm as well. The ghoul’s fingers twitched. Okay, that was it! The reaper let out a snarl as she twirled and delivered a round house kick to his gut again.

She was obviously sick of the Mantis boil doing things to make her twitch.

Yin had been almost beginning to believe that he was actually wearing the ghoul down a bit. She had been much more effective in their last fight, and he had been rather consistently attacking.

So, while he had not dropped his guard, he was surprised when she gave him a roundhouse kick to the gut. It was pure instinct and muscle memory that allowed him to grab onto her leg as he fell backwards, trying to at least put her off-balance enough that she would not be able to follow up with another attack of that degree as he gasped for air.

Oops, Hel didn’t think about that. Hel let out a grunt as Yin grabbed onto her leg, and fell right on top of him for a little bit of damage. “Yens!” She suddenly cried.

Hel rolled off of him, getting back into a defensive position and then paused, her brow furrowing. “…Yens?” She repeated. “I have no idea where that came from.” Maybe her fall jumbled her yelling out his name.

Her cry...he would have rather she called him friend. Actually, he really would not have minded what she said if she had not landed on top of him. He really needed a chance to catch his breath.

But the whole name thing...everyone got it wrong. Except for Alexander's mother and Miss Xiu-Ying. Even though Alexander knew what his name was he would not even use it most of the time. But he had gotten used to Yin. Resigned to Yin.

But she could not even get that simple name right? Something in him snapped and he hissed at her. "Yǐn Cáng. Yǐn Cáng." The first time he said his name he reached out with an open palm to slap her hand and get it out of the way, knocking her defense a bit so as he said his name a second time he stepped in, aiming a punch past her defenses.

Hel didn’t take kind to hostility against her, and this was no exception. She scowled as Yin hissed at her, and shook her hand a bit as he slapped it. That stung, sheesh!

The ghoul leapt back though, before he could hit her again. “It was a slip up!” She hissed back. “But how about I just call you ‘Slaps’ instead, eh!? Because that is all you do and it is certainly easier than Yin or however you say it!” The ghoul then tackled him around the mid-section.

Yin also had a hard time taking hostility, but more for he fact that had upset a ghoul than anything. "Yin is fine," he said with a sigh. "And I should not have called you Lady Hel earlier either." Well, not out loud.

Maybe what he needed to do was just...end this. So once she tackled him, and he landed on his back heavily with her on top of him, he pulled off a somewhat convoluted move to flip her under him and gain the upper hand, not really caring if he clawed her or was a bit too rough in the process.

“Damn right you should not have.”

Hel was very satisfied as she tackled the Mantis boil, though the tables were soon turned as he flipped her over. The ghoul let out an ‘oof’, and was suddenly very aware that her FEAR shield was on the verge of collapse. Well, damn. When had Yin gained the upper hand so much? She was slacking terribly…that and it seemed that she had a lot on her mind that was distracting her from fighting.

This was just...frustrating. She was a good fighter, he knew that. He had not yet begun to fight. But he pinned her and she did nothing?

"Why are you not taking me seriously?" He questioned a bit angrily before reaching out and tapping on that same nerve on her neck he had initially tried to attack.

Maybe that would get on her nerves.

Get on her nerves it did. As Yin reached to press that spot, Hel swatted his hand away in annoyance. She then nudged him with a knee, indication for him to get off nicely before she threw him off. “I was taking you seriously.” She replied, brows furrowed.

Okay…maybe she wasn’t exactly, but it happened. Off days. With her FEAR shield depleted now as well, Hel was done with this fight.

Yin understood the sign, willingly moving away from her, watching her with a bit of both curiosity and confusion. He reached out a hand to help her up, not sure if she would take it or not and bowed to her, fist in open palm. "Thank you for your time," Lady Hel. He had some things to think about, and he for one was not done, so he began to make his way toward a training dummy.

She said that she was taking him seriously but the last time they had fought...there had been a very different outcome. She had dealt heavy damage while he had done next to none. And just now? He had taken his share of blows but he had destroyed her Fear shield before he felt too tired.

Perhaps...perhaps training worked. Maybe it meant that he had gotten stronger. But on the other hand...if he had gotten stronger...how were the hunters still able to defeat him so easily? And surely they would get stronger too and...well what was the point of it anymore. Like Lady Hel said one needed to try but...if this was how things were would it not be better to just try to escape?

His instructors words rang in his mind. "The best way to avoid an attack is to not be present for it."

How true those words were. And it worked. Never had he seen the Mantodae plagued by horsemen and fending off hunters. They actually knew how to keep their own protected. If nothing else the Clan had safety, and was that not what was most important? For a brief moment he felt a pang of regret, a pang of want. If only he had never left.

It was just a brief moment, but it had happened. And then the realization hit.

He had wanted to be back with the Clan.
