The sudden drop in had Lan backing up slightly. Famine from the looks of the horseman's clothes. Why did their clan have to be so strange? At least he was not trying to pick at anything. "A minipet or a monkey, depending. And Mengyao I know. I am a delight."

The smile she gave him was anything but nice.

As the sounds persisted, Lan reached back, brushing her hair from idly with her finger. "Indeed. It is better to know than not. It-" The sounds amplified and Lan narrowed her eyes, looking for the source. The sight of it however, made here eyes open wide, watching the mass move.

Slowly, it felt like it's gaze lingered upon them before it resumed it pace in a direction lan was not at all comfortable with.
".....I get the feeling that that is not a mount, but would make a very nice 'pet'." Then again, Lan also thought that keeping a human for a pet was a good idea. "Think we ought to capture it?"

Invictus made a face at the vegetation creature. It kind of seemed like something Cymbeline would have wanted to take home with her. However, it seemed like it was time for him to look back at the creature, folding his arms across his chest.

It didn't last long, however, as it turned towards their encampment and Invictus found himself having to take a moment to actually try and decide what it was up to. Did they want it to take it down or....was there something else they could have been doing right then?

Herd it another direction?

Let it keep moving?

He was very suspicious of what it's unknown nature was right then.

Lifen had heard the resounding booming sound from a slightly further location than the rest of the group - having taken the afternoon to wander in to the death clan to bother Soren and his . . . love for plants. Taking to her insatiable interest, she had to know what was making the sound.

Following the voices that seeped through the trees, she found herself joining the rather large group that had followed the call of . . . whatever it was, and turning to them all, she cocked her head. Was it some kind of get together or whatnot? It seemed a little odd, and she couldn't help but shake the feeling that she was being stared at.

Walking closer to those she was more in tune with (Mengyao, Lan, whatnot), she cleared her throat a little and looked up. "I am glad I am not the only one who was roused by this odd sound." She said, her quiet voice just over the - well - whatever it was in the distance.

"It is a little foreboding."

Well, look at that! It was big enough to ride!

With respectful waves for Eisheth and the back of Mahir's head, and a nod of acknowledgement for Kiwi, Mmur was off, trailing after the behemoth at a safe distance. A very safe distance. Okay, he took about four steps toward the thing and stopped. It was no alpaca. How did one catch a faceless... blob... thing?

There had been many times in the past when he had worked with his brethren to bring down stronger foes, and even though it chafed against his solitary nature, Mmur knew a united front would stand better against this being than all of them attacking separately. Too bad such strategic planning wasn't meant to be. He would just have to do what he could.

The creature was fabulous. Eisheth already sympathized with it: in her opinion, it didn't look aggressive at all, on the other hand it might be pretty useful in the environmental research. In case, they would actually manage to take it home with them. But it looked like the Thing was already going the their home: it was aiming right towards their village.

"Kiwi!" The alchemist spotted her cousin. "Don't be aggressive to that thing!. I think, it might turn to be helpful", she shouted hopeing other horsemen would hear her. It would be a pity, if some idiot will attack it.

She also noticed a familiar silhouette nearby. "Mmur!" Eisheth rolled her eyes. "I'm happy to see you here... how are you?..", genuinely, though it sounded awfully stupid, but she couldn't come up with anything better: it was the first time she had seen him since.. since they were here.

Heidla's eyes widened. Could it be that Life itself was moving towards them?

She made a deep breath. No, it can't be true. All those vices and flowers she admired, the very opposite of what the frozen and unwelcoming soil of the Isle of Death could have given birth to, looked frighteningly bare and alive and moving. It was both the curse and the blessing of nature in flesh and soil. Was it threatening them? She was not sure about it. It could be that the fear rising in her chest was due to the fact that she just didn't know what it was; moreover, aren't natural cycles of Life and Death fearsome per se.

She looked around and saw familiar faces of clansmen watching the thing cautiously. Would they attack it?

It was within sight of the village now, each deep footstep could be heard deep within one's chest. The creature leaned forward, as though earnestly wanting to be there, wanting to be... home...

At first it was muffled by the pounding of it's own steps. Perhaps it was the leaning creak of the creature's mossy, earthen body. But the sound that ebbed from under the leaves and branches was sinister, almost laughing. A faint chuckle. And behind it... Amid the clumps of mud and soil it left behind... a trace of blood.

((OOC: Is it wise for the lost clan to so willingly entrust their village to this creature? This monster of unknown origin, with it's unknown purpose? Are the horsemen going to let another enemy sneak right into their home and destroy what little life they managed to salvage?

BOSS HP: ???/???

If you choose to use force on this creature, do so with caution! Make only one attack roll per GMed round, although you may freely RP and interact with each other. Perhaps it would be wise to seek out reinforcements...))

"Gathering!" he responded happily. Up this close, he did smell a lot like the death clan's herbal incenses. Or worse. Who knew what he'd been picking and lining the inside pockets of his cloak with? "I mussst learn how to adapt my healing artsss to thisss land and what already growsss here. I would not be much of a doctor if I sssimply gave up. Ssso I learn again."

The horseman continued to dangle with seemingly no concern for his appearance or safety. He gave the Conquest trio the most judgmental look he could manage while upside-down. "Your confidencce is very curiousss. It is much faster to run through the treetops. Even I would not wait on the ground, in the path of--"

The footsteps grew louder, shaking leaves down around Mahir and threatening to dislodge him from his perch. That was when he got a glimpse of it, at the edge of the trees. "Whatever is coming."

Mahir glanced back to Mengyao. These Conquest horsemen had such funny ideas. And the closest one had a curious yellow eye, and he did look familiar. Maybe... well, for now, he would have to show this horseman what their books and ink couldn't teach them. "We will give chassse."

The shadow arms suddenly began to writhe and climb. Well, most of them. Mahir gave Mengyao a sly grin before a couple of the shadow arms twisted around Mengyao and the two of them disppeared into the branches above.

Eisheth silently watched the creature getting closer. She understood it might be a threat, a danger to their little imitation of Home they managed to create. And yet... she couldn't force herself to treat the creature as the enemy. There was something familiar in the bulb thing.. something very deer to her. In fact, she actually wanted to cuddle the thing.

Eisheth turned around looking how others would react.

"This thing... it didn't harm anyone... yet.", she said addressing no one in particular.

Let's see how it goes. The alchemist doubted it would be hard to kill the beast with so many of them here, if it turns to be really aggressive. But so far, she thought, it would be wiser to wait and see.

The creature was moving forward, so Heidla had to give back... Now, that was getting troublesome. Even if the creature is not attacking, judging by the size of it it could crash the village just in passing and not even notice it.

The priestess muttered something unintelligible and caught her breath. Her heart was beating fast and heavy. What should they do? For the moment she just moved backwards, and then suddenly tripped over someone. "Oh Jack!" she groaned trying to pull herself up. "And that's it for me for not being able to make a decision!"

She raised her eyes to see who was it who blocked her way. There was a famine woman cloaked in all red. Good it was Heidla who fell down - the woman looked huge and unforgiving. "Excuse me", nodded the priestess: noblesse oblige, and one should be polite to the strangers.

Kiwi turned, just as the large creature came lumbering through the trees. Limbs groaned and snapped, whole trunks giving way as it appeared. It was unbelievably massive, and made of the strangest collection of earth and debris the Famine soldier had ever seen. Had someone let loose the alchemists a bit too soon?? ... It looked odd and massive enough to be their doing. On second thought, what alchemist would send their creation hurdling right for their own home-

Wait! The Clan! This monstrosity was doggedly making it's way for the perimeter of the clan reserve.

Kiwi was poised to give the thing a stout kicking, when he heard Eisheth's voice call out. Curses, she had a valid point ... If even an alchemist was worried about this creature, it was best to approach it cautiously. He reluctantly retreated across to her. "I'm glad to see you safe, Eish. But what are we to do with this thing??!! If we don't stop it now, it will ruin all the work we've put into rebuilding!"

He stomped his foot to the earth in frustration, eliciting an angry jingling from his ankle bracelets.

Soren had heard the noise and thought little of it. Heavy plodding among a forest of horsemen? There were all types of mounts, and he had things to do...or at least, he pretended as if they were so important.

But even as he set about his tasks he could not help but notice that the noise went toward the village. Curiosity finally bested him and he headed that way on his own, striding through the forest and giving off an air of purpose. The sight that he found...was slightly unnerving. Almost as if a lump of the earth had decided to move itself, the trail...a faint metallic scent sifting through the air.

He stood, crossing his arms, simply watching for now. But if it threatened the village he would not stand for it, he would defend it with all he had.

"What are you doing standing there?"

This was addressed to no-one and everyone and came from above. Shik had taken to the trees when he'd seen the monstrous thing's size, eyes narrowed at the sight of blood, the sound go what could have been gurgling laughter. And yet despite the unknown entity lurching towards their village, most of them were only discussing what to do.

The executioner, not one to mince words when there was imminent invasion, took flight, summoning his dagger as he soared towards the front of the creature (or what he figured was the front) in hopes of impeding its motion. He didn't particularly care if this was dangerously impulsive, but gods be damned if he wasn't going to try to stop the thing - no-one's permission should have been needed.

The horseman stoop and kept his position in midair yards from the slow-moving creature, turning to face it. "What do you want?" he prompted the thing, dagger in plain sight and ready to be used. He didn't know if it was capable of speech, but if it was able to elicit a chuckle . . .

"If you are just going to stand there and think, then think somewhere else." Invictus said, his voice turning from the impassive tone it normally took to that of a more serious almost general-like tone.

There wasn't a single wasted movement as he suddenly summoned his bow, the weapon holding firm in his hands as he drew back his other hand against it, an arrow materializing between the weapon and the protector's stretched back hand before he released it and let it fly towards the earthy creature. If nobody else was going to make the first move, he would.

Because friendly or not, it was huge and it's idea of 'friendly' might have also equated to 'destroy everything they've been working on thus far'.

What the hell was that.

Mengyao stared blankly at the...well, whatever it was, and then narrowed his eyes a little, feeling somewhat exasperated. He wasn't quite certain he actually wanted to know what the creature was, come to think of it. It wasn't any of his business.

Besides, he had more pressing things to worry about.

A voice coming from somewhere in the vicinity of his shoulder made Mengyao glance down, pleased in spite of himself, to see Lifen standing there, looking apprehensively around. He nodded at her in greeting, and then lifted his gaze back to the horseman that had - quite literally - fallen out of the tree, his voice a low hissing sound.

"Gathering?" Mengyao asked, and then tilted his head, a smirk curling his lips upwards. "So you're a doctor then, are you? How very - "

Except that was really as far as he got, since the next second there were two shadowy, black things curling around him and then he was being pulled upwards, giving a small shout of surprise. Mengyao found himself, quite abruptly, sitting up on a tree branch, lost within the foliage.

"What the Jack - " he said, completely nonplussed, and gave the horseman a defiant sort of look. "What am I doing up here? Put me back down - "

There was a whooshing noise, one of Invictus' arrows whistling through the air towards the creature. Mengyao gave a soft sigh of exasperation, his hands shifting, moving to steady himself against the side of the tree he was crouched against. Once settled more stably, lifted his hands into position. The air between them shivered, and a long bow of his own appeared, Mengyao curling his fingers around the wood. He normally would not have taken the time to even attack the damn thing, but considering that he had the feeling he wasn't going to get anything done while it was still there, it seemed he had no other choice.

"This is all your fault," he informed the dark skinned horseman, and pulled his hand back. The arrow flew towards the creature, but his aim was off, and the object merely whipped past whatever it was, dissipating uselessly into the air.

Mengyao turned his head back to the horseman.

"Like I said. All your fault."
