“Fun. How could something that might hurt someone else's emotional state be fun?” Mneme asked, clearly in disbelief. Alright, maybe it wasn’t her that was strange and behind the times- everyone else could just very well be crazy. Pretending to be someone you weren’t seemed like so much work, just for the sake of a laugh or two. But… if other gods did it, maybe it wasn’t something to snuffed at?
Gosh. This was all so horribly, horribly confusing.
“I… really don’t know what I want,” she admitted softly, partly to herself and partly to Raiden. Since she’d been ‘reborn’, Mneme had no idea where life was supposed to be taking her. From what she could tell, her powers were of a destructive nature. There wasn’t much good to be had in erasing other’s memories, and… she really didn’t want to be bad. It seemed unfair, in some way, to abuse the gifts which she’d been given.
“What am I supposed to do with FORGETFULNESS?!” Mneme groaned, slumping against the rock as she did so. “Thunder, you can at least… impress creatures with. All I’m particularly good at is making someone forget I ever existed at all.”
The little goddess was quiet for a moment, scowling at absolutely nothing in particular, as she tried to sort this mess out. Here, she’d thought meeting another god would help- but no! Now she was just more confused than ever. And had to look nuttier than a three legged giraffe trying to make its way across a river.
“…I’m sorry,” she finally sighed, still in a sour tone overall. “I’m just… very lost, I suppose. I thought another God, or someone who knew the Gods, might help me out, but I’m just starting to feel like a lost cause.” Pulling herself from the wall, Mneme took a minute to look herself over, and turned back to Raiden.
“I… should probably go, and stop bothering you. I’ve seemingly put you in enough trouble as it is, and I would hate to be a nuisance to you.”

"Eh? Who said anything about that?" He frowned. Sure, Raiden might mess things up sometimes, but even when it came to mortals, he didn't usually deliberately try to upset people! Just bother them. A little. "It's like playing a game." He reasoned. "A very elaborate game." Well, it was very simple, to him, but elaborate sounded better.
He didn't like people feeling sorry for themselves, and lowered his ears a bit at the moan. Particularly not gods. Still, he did feel a little bad for her, she did seem pretty confused. "Sometimes people want to forget things." He suggested, meekly. He couldn't imagine being in that situation himself, but... Hm. And idea occurred to him, just as she was getting to the part about being lost, and bothering him, and needing to go.
"H-hey, wait!" He blinked, just in case she might vanish away, rather than leave more naturally. "You can hang around with me. If you want, I mean. For a bit. If you stay in disguise. Maybe you could learn something!"

Oh. It was good, Mneme supposed, that Raiden’s game didn’t hurt anyone. When he explained it a bit more, it sounded less harmful, even if it was still strange. And who knew? Maybe it really would be fun, if she gave it a shot. She would discuss the idea with Awemu, and get his thoughts on it, since he seemed to be her go-to. It was a bit sad that there weren’t really messengers, but… the sentiment had been there. Maybe when they sat down and talked, she could figure out some way to repay his kindness.
When Raiden mentioned that it was alright to forget things, Mneme nodded meekly. “I suppose, but… I just wish there was something more active I could do, you know? Gifts that I could give to those who deserve them, or… at least something they’d remember. When you make someone forget something, it’s a very slippery slope, memory-taking. Because you might end up like me, and drive yourself over the edge, trying to remember what’s been taken from you.” Mneme hummed softly, though it was a sad little tune in nature.
“And I can’t even bring memories back.”
She had started to head off, intent on getting out of Raiden’s mane, when the other God stopped her. Pausing mid-step, she turned back to look at him, genuinely confused.
“A-are you quite certain?” She asked, shock coating the words. “I’m not very good at this mortal thing, and… I’m more than likely to be a nuisance to you. To be quite honest, I’m not sure that having me around is a good idea at all.” It seemed as if she were done speaking, after that, but then Mneme gestured with a paw to her eyes.
“And won’t my eyes give me away? They aren’t something I can hide, exactly. I’ve… I’ve seen how strange they look, in the water.”

He didn't know what to say to that, so Raiden found it best not to comment. He'd have to think about what she said a bit, later. Which meant probably never.
"Maybe you will be a nuisance." He said, honestly. "But I can work with it. you might even be helpful!" He grinned, then tilted his head at the mention of her eyes. "Really, you can't change them? How weird." He could change his own freely enough, though he often didn't want to. "Not even with illusions?" Instead of actual shape shifting or color altering or whatever. "Well, anyways, we can just say you're scarred, or something." Mortals would believe anything. They actually believed he was a god messenger, after all!
"Um. Okay, we should find a place to talk things out. D'you remember how to get to the..." He tried to recall the name, but failed. "Oh, well. The big shiny white place. With snow. Y'know..." He frowned. He didn't visit it often. "The haven, right. Do you remember?"

“How could I be helpful?” Mneme asked, ears perking up at the suggestion. She genuinely wasn’t sure what assistance she could offer, but if she could be of some use- well, that was wonderful! And learning about mortals at the same time, none the less! It seemed like a beneficial, if not slightly confusing, idea, and Mneme could find no reason to object to it.
At the mention of illusions, and being scarred, Mneme shook her head. “As I’ve mentioned, my magic talents so far are... minimal. It’s all there, I think, like it’s never left, but… there’s a great deal of it I can’t recall. And I hadn’t met another God- till you- who could offer assistance in learning it.” If she could get a handle on illusions and shapeshifting… learning about mortals would be so much easier. She could pose as a lioness, or… or even a bird! The possibilities were astounding! Though she was inwardly giddy at the prospect, she wasn’t going to overwhelm Raiden with silly questions.
…Yet.
When Raiden mentioned a white place- The haven, it was called? Mneme lulled her head to the side in thought. For seem reason, it felt familiar- an itch, at the back of her mind, but…
“I haven’t a clue,” she confessed, saddened by such a crucial detail she’d forgotten. And she felt like she ought to know what snow was, but the term danced just out of her grasp once more.
“I know of the desert, and this land, and the plains, but… that’s all I can remember. If I’ve been there, it’s gone from me.”

"Oh, we'll figure something out." Maybe he could persuade her to mind-wipe some people who bugged him, in time. Er, not in a bad way! Just anyone who might know of his secret.
So she didn't remember how to get to the haven? That sort of made it a bit more difficult to find a nice, secluded place to talk, where stormborn wouldn't stumble upon them. But Raiden could figure something out. "Okay. Can you do this?" He took a short glance around, and finding he was still mostly hidden, felt satisfied enough to change. In the blink of an eye, it was almost as if Raiden had always been a raven.
He did such things rather frequently, and so it came very easily to him. He figured he might have to do some explaining. "It's easy enough. You just gotta think it. Just... think about what you are, and what you want to be, and how to do that." It was weird to describe, though.

Perfectly oblivious to Raiden’s intent to have her use her powers, Mneme nodded at the encouragement, finding a bit of faith in herself. If he saw some potential good use in her, well… there wasn’t any problem in sticking around, was there? Awemu would understand if she popped in and out, hopefully. Gods were very different from mortals, being able to fly and vanish, so… he’d understand. He’d have to. He was smart enough to figure out she’d be back.
Suddenly, Raiden was a raven- she hadn’t even blinked, and he was in a new form before her. Gasping at the suddenness of the change, Mneme padded forward to inspect him. He was so little now! She couldn’t help the little giggle that escaped at the sight of him, falling back on her haunches with a smile.
“You’re sort of cute like this, you know? Not trying to be gruff and intimidating.” The little goddess took a moment more to look Raiden, as if double-checking how to do everything. It wasn’t that she didn’t know how to shape-shfit! She just… wanted to make sure she was going for the right sort of form.
Shifting back to give herself room, Mneme closed her eyes and drew a deep breath. She could be humored about this situation later- for now, she needed to focus. Her chest rose and fell once, twice, and…
“Well!” The little parrot fluffed up, opening her eyes and looking at Raiden. “I think I managed that quite well! How do I look?”
In all honesty? She was a bit silly to behold. Pink and purple and fluffier than a newly groomed cub, Mneme looked… rather out of place in the harsh landscape. None the less, the goddess-turned-parrot seemed quite proud of her transformation.
“I’m ready to go when you are, I suppose!”

"Yeah, yeah– what do you mean trying?" He just didn't like the implication that he tried very hard to look gruff and intimidating. He was just like that naturally! Hmph! The Raiden-raven fluffed up a bit irritably, but decided he'd just wait for her to transform.
For a moment there it seemed like she might not even manage, to him. But that might just be because the other goddess herself seemed a bit of a helpless sort. It was amusing to see someone focusing on their shapeshifting like that, since it came so easily to Raiden. But she did manage quickly enough! How good!
"You look like a bird." A somewhat colorful bird. Perhaps a bit too colorful for his tastes, but... oh well.
"Alright, now follow me. Let's go to a place where we can talk better!" Without really waiting to make sure she felt comfortable flying in this weather, Raiden spread his wings and took off, only momentarily pausing to make sure that she would follow.
Perhaps he really could find some use here! And amusement!
