Three young ones? That...was unsettling. The arrival of a stranger had her watching him warily, ever the Guardian as her large form shifted. Her attention was drawn from the speaking party leader and the stranger to a...newly arrived pilgrim. Oh dear. What a time to come home...Chemankari took care of answering both newcomers, and noted it was time to get looking. Daima started forward, nose alternating between sniffing at the air and the ground, looking for a scent that was lion and NOT fire-caused.

Baatar stuttered. The lionesses certainly seemed to be in distress, and as he looked around, there was an unmistakable smell of fire. Now that he thought about it, he looked into the distance. The damage was obvious, burnt and charred bits of the scenery lay about as if they'd fallen from the highest trees.

A search party, eh? Well, he could have a look for others, he had nothing better to do.

He looked from one of the lionesses to the other, and bowed his head again. "I will help, if you like." They looked like they may need some help, however they did not seem to be too inclusive of strangers, and he took that on board. Baatar wasn't one to overstep the mark. He slinked a little away from the group, and lowered his head as he walked to push aside any larger bit of debris.

Kijani had just about given up hope of finding something to eat in this dead swamp when she heard voices getting closer. The mostly white wild dog crouched down and did her best to go unseen for the time being, the ash and soot that covered her seemed to help quite a bit in that regard. She kept her ears and eyes alert as the sounds of others coming closer, and then she spotted the first lion of the search party. Her ears folded back and she sunk even lower into the ground.

Had she accidentally stumbled into lion territory or their hunting grounds? What horrible luck, she thought to herself as she curled her large fluffy tail around herself and hoped for a distraction so she might run off in the other direction and get away from all those lions with their huge teeth and big paws.

Being late. An oddity for Endi, but in this case it was rather understandable. The fire had almost claimed his life not two days earlier when the trunk of a tree snapped away and fell very nearly on top of himself and his family. He had missed the sight of it, busy making sure his siblings and their families kept together and did not get lost. They were lucky it did not crush them. His hind leg however, was not without damage. It had taken a hard hit, though had not been caught under that tree. It was by seer luck he did not become pinned there to burn to death...

The heavy pain thrumming through his leg, and the ash stinging his eyes would not keep him from helping the others who were not fortunate enough to find their way through the blaze.

It wasn't long before he came upon Chamankari, many of those that had volunteered to go with her already out and and searching for the missing members of their pride. Her coat was as grey as their own, there was hardly water to spare for a wash after his roll on the ground. Briefly, he checked her over for injury, but, no.. It looked to be for being too close too the blazes, dangerous enough as that was, not from diving away from falling debris.

He kept his limp as light as he could, face blank to hide the pan as he bowed his head in respect to the lioness. " I want to help.. " He murmured in a rough voice. " What areas are not yet being searched, I will being in one of them. " He said thoughtfully. There was so much land to search. It almost felt like too much. But he would not leave here until every last missing member is found.. He just couldn't. As tough as he seemed, he had too good of a heart for that.

Chasasa'koa had resigned himself to being lost, at least for a bit. It hurt to move and it really hurt to breathe so he had gotten comfortable in the awkward little spot he'd found as the fire died down. He hadn't yet been able to get up and look around, certain he couldn't be the only one left behind, but even two days after the fire started, he wasn't getting very far. So there he stayed, resting by what remained of some trees, giving in to the urge to try to sleep it off. His fur was black in patches, many from his ashy surroundings though some indicated burns.

When the search party arrived, it would have been hard not to notice the life and sound they brought to the swamps with them. Chasasa'koa was bleary eyed but awake as the search began and Daima-tii-mlei headed in his direction. He didn't feel very confident in his voice or his feet or he would have called and gotten up as soon as he thought he heard something.

Waliohifadhiwa continued his laughter and playful self with his surroundings, until he smelt what he had feared - the lions were back. Lumbering himself into safety, he watched in amazement as those who fled returned to find those that they left behind. Without really knowing what to do, he followed the group, but still hidden, able to hear them talking to one another. He was determined to find a lion around here. What an odd creature he was, following those who may as well eat him for entering their hunt.

(Sorry, posting her for certing this afternoon)

This was all so terrible... Euphe could hardly stand to see her new home in such condition as this. She hadn't been with them long but she loved every member of her pride, no matter if she knew them personally, and this sight... it just broke her heart...

She moved on slightly shaking paws through the mud and ash, searching like so many, for the musing adults and those poor cubs who must be so very frightened out here for two days after such an event. She wouldn't allow herself to think anything but the best case scenario. They would find them. They had to. It was really just as simple as that.

A squeak escaped the clumsy lioness' lips as she tripped over the trunk of a smaller fallen tree, the burnt out thing crumbling with her weight which only made the fall worse, sending her face-first into the mix of mud and ash that was below it. Slowly, she hauled herself up, using her none-too clean paws to wipe at least a bit of the grime from her pale face. " Eyuck... " She groaned, spitting out as much as she could. " I need to be more careful or they'll be looking for me next.... "

With a sigh, she much more carefully got back to her paws, glancing around the area, before moving along her searching. Though, at a slower and more careful pace.

"It'd have to be a damn long story for things to look like this," Karima muttered, the acerbic tone failing to hide the stunned look in her eyes as she continued to take in the damage. A short nod of agreement followed Chemankari's suggestion, and the lioness fell into place on the fringes of the group. Violet eyes flickered here and there, looking for anything that wasn't swamp, and her nose frequently wrinkled at the stench of burned vegetation.

"Don't get lost yourself," she rumbled at the grey stranger.

Morska'Zelena turned her head in a coughing fit, as they had a momentary pause as they searching party was joined by a pilgrim returning home, and a gray stranger. For a moment as her eyes watered around the coughing, Morska'Zelena couldn't tell if the gray was his actual coloring or from the ash.

Focusing again, she saw the truth and followed Chemankari and the other members of the party, Turning to Euphe, "Are you okay?" Her voice hoarse from coughing and the smoke. Morska'Zelena made sure to step carefully around the area.

Kai'dena was getting used to being home, loving it in fact, and as she joined the search party, she felt a bit more at ease being in the company of others. She had been alone for quite some time during her name quest, but that was behind her now, now before her, a new life.

But fire had ravaged and now some had to be found, she only hoped she could be of some help, that her body was used to much travel so she could continue on if any others got tired.

She would do all she could.

" I'll be fine... Thank you. " She murmured out as she offered a weak smile across to Morska, dark blue eyes tinted in concern for the other's coughing fits as she finally settled more steadily on her feet.

She moved forward to the side of the other pale lioness, he smile brightening just slightly. " It may be a little safer if we search together. Just because the fire's out does not mean the danger is entirely gone.. So much debris is left behind... My name is Euphe, by the way. " She bowed her head in greeting to the other lioness, before letting her yes scan their surroundings, eyes perked forward. She didn't There didn't seem to be any of their missing pride-mates in their immediate location sadly... They would need to move deeper into the land to look.

And it really would be treacherous. Who knew when a tree would suddenly give way and fall, for instance? She really didn't want to search alone.. And the other's coughing worried here. To collapse out here from inhaling too much ash or smoke out be terrible.

It was so strange, to see such devastation from the fire here. Once greenery was now dark and forlorn, ash and sot on the ground. It felt strange beneath Kai'dena's paws. Like a strange, sick, mud. She didn't like it one bit. It felt almost like sand, and sand was once thing Kai'dena was definitely not fond of.

How much further in would they need to go?

Fear of plumes of ash in the air getting into their eyes, ears and nose was a possibility. But they could not leave their pridemates out here.

Chasasa'koa is ready for Daima to find him!

Chemankari couldn't help but wonder if maybe they had a few too many people in this search party of theirs, as it was going to be hard to keep tabs on everyone, but she couldn't have just...denied anyone a chance to come. To look for their friends, their family. When the gray lion fofered his help, she shrugged. "Be my guest."

The lioness set about doing some looking herself - and some sniffing, but ash kept getting her nose, so that wasn't terribly helpful. Soon enough, though, she thought she caught a glimpse of something: a something that actually happened to be a wild dog, but she didn't know that yet. "Hey, I think I've got something..."

"Hello? Are you alright?"

It wasn't too long before Daima caught a scent. Ah! There they were...She didn't let the new additions and arrivals distract her, nor Chemankari's greeting in another direction. She approached the area cautiously, mindful of pitfalls and areas that might still be hot, and spotted the figure she'd scented. "Hey. Think you can stand if you've got some help?" She was a sturdy enough lioness to support the weight of another, and knew how to keep a slow pace for someone injured. And if they couldn't stand with help...well, again, she was a sturdy gal. She could carry them.

Chasasa blinked as Daima came into view, struggling to focus. She was very quick- or maybe it was just the fact he hadn't moved much in the last day, it seemed very sudden that she was there, asking if he was able to stand. He registered some familiarity with her though he had never officially met her before, Swampies had definitely returned to find those who got left behind.

"Hey," he greeted her, managing a smile before a cough made him turn away. When the spell passed, he untangled his feet and shakily tried to push himself upright but he didn't get very far before he muttered in a raspy voice, "Closer."

Leaning on her he would get to his feet, he only hoped he would have an easier time moving along once he was up. Getting started had to be the hardest part or he might regret his decision not to try walking it off.
