"Words!" Nuria spat, before her posture suddenly became much more aggressive as she leaned forward until her nose nearly touched his. "If you're going to be stupid, then grow a pair and do it. I've got no use for a newbie who's just spouting hot air out of his a**."

"Lucky for you, I've got more than words to back it up!" Ruber hissed at the lioness. Without further ado, he lashed out with one paw. The blow glanced off the lioness' shoulder without making much of an impact, but he had connected, if only briefly.
That should at least show her that he was dead serious about this.

Nuria simply snarled, aiming a hard swing at the side of the male's head. She'd make him see stars in broad daylight! Would serve him right for being a bloody idiot.

Ruber snarled in return as he took the blow solidly. It hurt, and made him see stars for a bit. But he did his best to return it. Unfortunately, his brains were still a little scrambled from the lioness' hit, and again he managed no more than a glancing blow.

Hah, so she had rattled him a bit! Good. With a sound that was half-laugh, half growl, Nuria plowed into his shoulder with her own. Get him down, make him vulnerable, and maybe he'd start rethinking his macho s**t-talking. He had no place doing it if he couldn't back it up, and he hadn't done so yet!

Ruber growled back, but the effect was ruined by him having the air forced out of his lungs by her full-body attack. Once again he tried to cuff her in the head with a paw, and once again his aim was thrown off by the attack he'd taken. Yet another glancing blow. The red lion was beginning to get as frustrated by his failure as he was by his opponent's success.

Growing overconfident, Nuria didn't aim her next blow nearly as well as she should have. When her paw flew past his head, she snarled in irritation. She'd knock some sense into him yet!

Ruber grinned savagely as the red lioness' paw went completely wide of the mark. Haha, he wasn't out of this contest yet! Not by a long shot! His paw shot out again and glanced off the lioness yet again.
Frustrating, yes, but at least he hadn't completely missed yet, not the way she had.

Nuria's ears flattened and her eyes blazed at the smug look the male gave her as she missed. The glancing blow was just insult added to injury, but both combined were more than enough for her to aim her next swing at that grinning face of his. The only thing that kept her from throwing her claws into the mix was the fact that he was, technically, a pridemate, and the Legate probably wouldn't be too thrilled if she put a Soldier's eye out.

The smile wiped itself from Ruber's face as he took yet another solid hit. Damn this lioness wasn't holding anything back at all, was she? And yet he was the one who was clearly more insulted by this entire situation!
Frowning at her, the red lion took a couple steps back and out of her reach. Maybe that would encourage her to...oh, who knew? He was no mind reader, to know what to expect from his opponent!

Nuria hissed as his backward steps took him out of reach of her next swing, but did not follow. "Like I said," she growled, "Don't spout hot air out of your a** if you can't back it up. I'll hope you learned something from this." A fierce, toothy farce of a grin. "Or I know you'll be repeating the experience."

Ruber snorted, refusing to back down. "You barely won this time," he retorted. "If I wasn't still recovering from my fight with Morag, it'd be a lot fairer."
After all, though he hadn't suffered any major injuries, the numerous tiny wounds did add up to a less than great performance overall.
"I know your type," the red lion went on. "You're so proud to defeat a cripple, but can't hold your own against a lion in the bloom of health," he sneered. "I bet you impress all the males that way, except wait, you can't even get one to lay with you."
Oh yeah. He went there.

Oh hell no.
He did not just go there.
Nuria snarled and surged forward, plowing into the other lion and knocking him off his feet. Placing her forepaws squarely on his chest, she leaned down until her nose was nearly touching his, with threat apparent in each bared fang. "You started that fight, newbie," she hissed, her glare fit to kill. "You do not get to blame the result on me, and you damn well do not get to talk about males I may or may not have lain with!" Suddenly she paused, and a slow, cruel smile crossed her face. "At the rate you're going, you'll be old and grey before you get a Firekin lioness to even look at you, let alone lay with you."

Even flat on his back, Ruber was grinning nastily up at the red lioness. Yep, he'd hit a nerve there. And this was a rather satisfying turnout in the end.
"Oh really? From what I've heard, you people are dangerously inbred. You need outside blood to keep the pride healthy. It seems that from what I've heard, as long as I do my part as a father, there are plenty of lionesses who'd be happy to sleep with me just because there's no crossed bloodlines."
Yep, he'd actually done his homework on that one. It wasn't even that hard, not when every lion referred to most others as being a relative of some kind or other. So he was fairly certain that, personal problems or not, there'd likely be a few lionesses who would ignore those issues for his rogue blood.

"Oh yes, such a fine male, needs to find an inbred line to even get a lioness to consider bearing his cubs." Nuria sneered. "Such a wonderful time you'll have, never getting it unless it's for those cubs. But it's better than nothing, I guess. No wonder you wanted in here."
