She was trying so hard not to watch the on goings of the heirs beside her, but when she was given a silent hello back from Invictus, she couldn't help but award him with a soft little smile, enjoying the little interactions between her higher ups, and those of the other clans. She also gave a nod of her head to Senga - she wouldn't be rude to him, she had no specific issues with the little fluffball.

Turning her head up, she regarded the other Horseman from War (who wasn't the Heiress), pursing her lips a little. She knew only a small handful of them - Shaheen, who was part of her little fold of protected friends, and Senga, the fluffball who was in the area with them, so, out of the power of denomination, she took a few moments before piping up.

"Shikoba, yes?" She murmured quietly, wandering lightly towards him so she could talk to him. "You are the one who Shaheen knows, correct? I have heard of you." She offered up, hoping to alleviate the situation for herself, feeling a little antsy.

He had noticed Lifen, of course, but he could not talk to her, not now, not again. His heart ached for the recognition he did not deserve, and considering all that had happened, he could no longer pretend that he was even on the same level as her anymore.

He never had been, but it had been easy to pretend that he was.

Mengyao's eyes flickered towards Senga briefly, narrowing slightly, though he said nothing, instead regarding the other with an inscrutable look before his gaze passed over to each of the four heirs, the look in his eyes becoming rapidly disinterested. He did not wish to interact right now, and it seemed like he would not need to, what with who exactly was around.

So Mengyao stood silently, hands tucked into his sleeves, and said nothing at all.

Aisa received an appreciative nod, while everyone else got a look of further judging. "You will enter when you are prepared."
She slammed the pointed end of her spear close to Shikoba's feet in warning. "The paths of Death call to many, some earlier than others. For our clans, a Trial can be considered both a growth, for those who succeed to find their way, or a failure, for those who become lesser than what they once were. These words I speak are simply warnings from our Head Priestess herself, who has left all of you a memento. Now, enter."

She folded the tent flap open to reveal simply a burning pyre, devoid of Medea herself. A gate was perfectly folded in the center, forming the flames themselves, steadily flickering.

"All of you have been called," the Death guardian continued, "Called by the Head Priestess, blessed to take this path, this trial. Even I do not know what awaits the other side, I am simply a messenger. I have humbly been requested to only relay her words, and thus her final request before her disappearance." At last, they bowed, deeply. "May all paths lead to the same end."

"Eris." he brushed his fingers along her arm gently, "Truly we do need to find more occasions to walk together than we have been." After all - there was a certain loyalty he would always hold to the Heirs before the clans when it came to battle.

Invictus gave the Guardian a sharp look, as though warning them how they spoke to him or the other Heirs, before he entered the tent, looking at the unattended pyre with a guarded look of curiosity. He paced around it once, before looking to the gate.

"Well. We may as well see what lays on the other side for us." he murmured as he stepped through the gate - trials were meant to be squashed underneath his boots, after all, and he would rise to meet them all the same.

Shik couldn't help but twitch his mouth into a half smile at the guardian's silent threat. Perhaps they weren't all made of stone after all. His expression froze when the flap revealed there was no Medea at all, but . . . then again, had he really thought she would be back in a snap after the odd light in the human world before? He had certainly hoped so.

And yet even when he had thought he had come here of his own volition, in the end they had all been called for this--blessed, the guardian had said. Whatever that meant.

Shik stares into the flames before turning his head to Lifen. "That I am," he answered simply, the half smile a baring of teeth, the proclamation quite proud. "And you are Lifen, aren't you. Pleasure." And then he entered the portal with a rustle of feathers without nether ado.

Senga watched the procession of events with mild-mannered amusement, though when Aisa appeared with a scythe directed at Shik's neck, he moved forward abruptly. There were plenty of things he would take from horsemen in more respectable positions (and he respected the Heirs enough not to ruffle his feathers in their presence unless asked), but threatening another of his own brethren was crossing a line.

Thankfully, Eris cut in, and the tension eased from him like a wave. He growled minutely, pressing his fingers sharply into the small of Shikoba's back to announce his presence, a warning, protective, irritated gesture. He glanced back at the two Conquest horsemen gathered, eyes briefly appraising before he tilted his head into a silent hello. There was little need for anything else beyond that.

And then the unknown horsewoman began to move and speak. A trial, she said, as though it were such a simple thing. And yet he'd had no time to prepare for it at all. And to call them blessed? Senga blinked away the irritation with forced self-control, reminding himself that this, like all things, had to lead forward. He was tired of taking one step in the right direction only to find himself being pushed back two steps.

Rustling his wings gently, Senga straightened himself and followed Shikoba without pretense, more out of concern that the larger executioner would get himself involved in something stupid without anyone to back him if he didn't follow too closely behind.

It was time to go.
