[1 vs 1] Play the Piper [Ren & Piper]

Well, it was fun while it lasted. Five whole seconds of triumph.

Her cackles turned sour as Ren bowled her over, unable to get him off or summon the magic necessary to try. Really that last blast had done her in more than she showed off, and on top of that Piper could feel her shield getting dangerously close to breaking.

At least her hair had cushioned her head for the fall.

"OKAY OKAY--" She thrashed a little, found it useless, and desummoned her weapon. "Uncle! Uncle already! No baths or water or anything! Jack."

He was flopped on the floor now, half draped over Piper, and now Ren crawled away from her, his wet hair sodden over his face and giving him the very unmistakable appearance of a drowned cat. He curled up on the floor with his wings around him and made a pitiful sort of whining noise.

"I don't like water," he whispered.

And then, a second later -

"Thanks for the spar, Blue. You done good."

Normally when Piper thought of herself on the floor, tired, wet, and with another man on top of her, the image was more romantic. His expression was also supposed to be something more adoring and less sullen cat, and cuddling was supposed to happen. None of that was happening, and she'd lost. Ugh.

"Piper, featherbrain. It's Piper. Or Big Blue to you." That sounded kinda catchy: big personality, big hair, big talent. Yes, good~

"Also, feel free to get off me whenever you like," she added with a huff.

"Okay," Ren wheezed, rolling over so that he was off of Piper and lying facedown on the floor of the gym. His voice came out slightly muffled as he added, "Big Blue it is."

A pause.

"Don't call me featherbrain."

"Okay." She remained on her back where she was, content to just sort of flop for the moment.

"Featherduster."
