The other thing about Japan, is that stuff is a lot more expensive there. A large pizza costs around $30-40 and it isn't anything like American pizza. They have on with squid-ink instead of tomato sauce, and another pizza with mayonnaise for sauce. https://pizzahut.jp/pc/pizza_menu/

Ramen is actually Chinese. Japanese are all about soba and udon. I like to make soba noodles with bullion... which is like rich-man's ramen. It's waaaay healthier for you, too.

I don't like White Castle. Gives me serious indigestion. Plus I'm a vegetarian, now, so only thing I can eat there is fries.

THEY USE SQUID INK? NO WAY!!!!!!!!! They have access to tomatoes in Japan I sure they do. O.O

And ramen is way more popular in Japan and South Korea than in China.

KazeRin
I like veggies and rice and a bit of meat. heart

Also, lots of pasta. It's cheap and easy, so it's always our back-up, and we can eat it for weeks without problem.

This sooo me too. Especially when it's hot out, meat takes a back seat. Pasta, and vegetables, are like a main-stay in my diet. And processed foods are the devil...learn to cook from scratch.

Cook from scratch? THat is like non existant from here. Here you have 2 grocery stores to choose from, either WALMART, or LOWES. And lowes is more expensive. There is also the commisary at holloman air force base which my mom and dad shop at but they are retired and dependent, and 90% of people in this area don't have access to that place.

So it's either Walmart or Lowes. Lowes is more expensive, except they are better cuz they have sushi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! biggrin I LOVE SUSHI!!!!!!!!!!!! But yeah cooking from scratch is non-existant here. My girlfriend and her family have to shop at walmart for all of their food, cuz they have 7 minor children.

Until the 1950s, ramen was called shina soba (支那そば, literally "Chinese soba") but today chūka soba (中華そば, also meaning "Chinese soba") or just Ramen (ラーメン) are more common. It is a Japanese dish, but made with 'chinese noodles.' I assure you, yaki soba is way better... healthier and tastier.

I'm all about cooking from scratch, myself. We make peanut-butter from peanuts, pesto from basil, orange juice from oranges, bake our own bread, etc. I'm all about raw ingredients. I'm also a vegetarian, but that's a whole 'nother topic.

Yakisoba? is is the same as the Maruchan Yakisoba brand they sell here? those are pretty good/ biggrin Tastes like healthy ramen. biggrin

And yeah, one of my brothers and his gay lover are both vegetarian (well his lover is vegan), he is vegatarian. Before they both would only eat fish and now they don't eat any meat or something from anything that moves at all, well Brandon at least, his lover David is going vegan. They are totally being stupid, they both are skinny as *@#((* and want to get their masters degrees in Albuquerque and then freaken move to Seattle. The hell? And they now refuse to shop at Walmart which is stupid. They have little money in stuff for anything, could barely afford rent, and yet they still choose to do this, and they do get food stamps to...but only cuz Brandon had to take other peoples shifts to get to over 20 hours a week because they won't give food stamps to students unless they work at least part time 20+ or more. It's just stupid. To Seattle in 3 years from now? I will really not know who my brother Brandon is anymore. crying

I know they probably only wanna move there cuz weed is legal there. stare Even though they should just go to CSU (Colorado State University) which is pretty high-end, it's much closer, and weed is also legal there, I mean really. It's stupid. They have like no money.

Yes, Maruchan Yakisoba is yakisoba... although cheap. Not quite as hearty as real yakisoba. If you have a korean or japanese import store, you can buy soba for super cheap.

Vegetarians aren't necessarily skinny. Most of the ones I know live off of noodles and breads. Like pure carb diets. Mmmm, and sugar. Pie and cake and doughnuts are all vegetarian foods.

I've always been interested in Seattle because of the moisture and grungy culture. We have mountains in Colorado, but few lakes and no moisture. And legal weed, well... that doesn't go into effect til Jan 2014 and I doubt it will change things much. Weed has been "legal" for a long time with medical marijuana. And it completely changes the culture. Here, nobody cares if you smoke bud. It's not much different from drinking a beer.

well I know cuz alcohol ******** sucks!!!!!!!! My brother (one of them, we are triplets) wants weed pills or weed bronies. I would love to have them too in such, but with a ******** republican governor that won't happene ever. ******** YOU SUSANA MARTINEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If ppl want to *#($%#*( up their bodies with drugs they have a right to. I am using benadryl to mess up my body as well as alcohol, so since other hard core drugs are illegal that is ******** retarded. That is why Mexico is in a drug war right now, cuz the mexican government won't accept drug smuggling, even though they are illegal ones. But to ******** stop innocewnt peoploe getting shot by strawy bullets, they NEED TO STOP IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PEOPLE HAVE THE ******** RIGHT TO MESS UP THEIR ******** BODIES AS MUCH AS THEY WANT AS LONG AS THEY CHOOSE TO DO THE DRUGS THEY WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SInce they don't want it to be legal, thousands of lives are being lost in Mexico becaue of their stupid insecurity. Many mexicans are moving to the US because of this stupid problems.

Edibles are fun and all, but rather expensive. The best are in chocolates (blue kudu) or tootsie rolls (cheeba chews).

And yes, by legalizing it the whole black-market gangsta culture has been cut out of it. I think Portugal has the best idea... legalize everything and provide treatment for addicts. What annoys me more, is that when I'm sick and I know I need some antibiotics... I can't just buy them. I have to go to a doctor who says "yep, you're coughing" so he will write me a permission slip to buy antibiotics. And if I don't watch closely, those antibiotics could have nasty side effects. ********' doctors. Grr.

You can buy flour and other baking ingredients from Lowe's / Walmart.
So you can cook from scratch.

I did a lot of that this past week on vacation. Made too many pancakes for 13 people whee Just wish I had eggs here, I'd make pancakes for myself right now.
We had two different kinds of hamburgers. Corn on the cob wrapped in bacon. Fresh wild boar. Potatoes sliced thin and baked. Potaoes fire-roasted. Mashed potatoes with carrots and onions...
We have a professionally trained cook amongst our friends, and another that went through butchery school and half of cooking school... so we had some pretty great meals.
heart

But I digress.

Most people I know who went vegetarian gained weight or maintained a relatively chubby state. They end up intaking a lot of carbs and fat from nuts and don't tend to have as much energy so they end up burning less calories and skipping meals and end up slowing down their metabolism...
It's a decision that needs to be made wisely, otherwise it'll damage your body.

Here weed isn't legal, but it's been decriminalized, so if you're caught with a small amount you don't get into trouble. Just if you have enough to be potentially dealing.
But I knew some potheads who would buy a monthly supply for themselves and to share. Which is certainly enough to plausibly be dealing.
As ochi said about where he lives, people here mostly consider it about equivalent to drinking. Do it on your own time, don't drive while under the influence, and don't be obnoxious about it in public. My apartment building tends to smell like pot at all hours of the day. It's honestly a bit annoying because they're smoking cheap stuff that smells awful.

A nice thing about it being legal here... nobody has cheap stuff. Or more... all the cheap stuff is high quality. Shwagg is non-existant. It's probably not worth it for the mexicans to smuggle it here. lol

Lemme guess, you live in either Washington State, or Colorado. Since those are the only states they made it legal. I hope it changes to here. Cuz my brother is very demanding of weed pills. Although all I have to use to ******** KILL MYSELF has to be freaken benadryl (up to 250 to 400mg) per dose, or alcohol (9-12 shots of 40% ABV liquor). That's all I have to rely on.

It's scary cuz my brother Brandon plans to get his masters in ALbuquerque and eventually move to Seattle, WA. Even though I told him it'd be cheaper if they went to CSU since weed is legal there to.

SO YEAH, COLORADO and WASHINGTON states are legal there.
