He very nearly hit her when she said his last name. They were out of earshot of the group, but he didn't want to risk anyone finding out who he was. His hand clenched in a fist. "My name is Albert," he hissed. He sure as hell didn't want her calling him Wesker when they got back to the group. There were plenty of people who might recognize the name and then he'd have a whole group against him.
"Will you stop begging? You sound so pathetic when you do that." Maybe it was having a connection to his past standing right in front of him, maybe it was her being the only one knowing who he really was, maybe it was because he never really liked Rebecca to begin with, he wasn't sure, but he didn't feel the need to be so nice. He didn't feel like he owed anything to her.
"Go tell your group to rest up. You're all going to need your energy for the trip back. It's not going to be an easy or short trip. And a larger group is both good and bad. The undead are going to notice us easier, but we'll have more people with guns for when they do," he said. Most of it was just mentally preparing for the trip, making note of what he needed to, but part of it was to make sure she was prepared too.

His jaw clenched when she spoke again. She thought she knew him, but she was wrong. And the only thing stopping him from killing her on the spot was the fact that the entire group could see him. If he killed her, they'd all immediately turn on him and the years of trust he worked on building up with the survivors he came across would be gone in a second, because he gave in to his anger. His desire to keep the peace was the only thing keeping her alive. He let her walk away. Five years ago, he never would have thought that anger would be a strange emotion. It had been years since he had felt anger. He had nothing to get angry about before now. Things had been easy. Then she had to show up and ruin it all. Maybe he should leave her behind. There'd be less of a chance of his secret getting out.
He didn't move, watching the group from a distance. She thought he was trying to run from his past, that he was trying to fix what he did. She was wrong. He wasn't running. He only wanted the past to stay in the past. And he wasn't interested in making up for what he did. He didn't care about how many people died, how many had been turned into undead. None of them were any of his concern, and he owed nobody anything. All he had wanted was to sit on the sidelines and watch the world go up in flames without his help, as he was sure it would do. To do so, he needed to pass as a regular survivor. Anything beyond that, he had no interest in.

On his own, Chris traveled trying to survive. He'd lost many men since the apocalypse, friends too, and the whole thing had left the man quite bitter. He'd gained a quick temper for anyone who provoked him. But that just meant he could take out his anger on the undead masses that walked the streets.
He'd been alone for a while, and though he'd heard rumors of a safe city in LA, there was nothing but zombies there. They'd been overrun. It was unfortunate, but it happened all the time nowadays. He'd managed a ride up north, but now he was both out of gas and running low on supplies.
Fortunately he saw what looked like a camp up ahead. He could hear voices. That was always a good sign. Chris approached the group slowly, they'd managed a small baracade of cars to keep them from being totally unprotected, and there was a building that they were in front of. They were probably staying in there. Chris knew he didn't want to startle anyone, so when he approached the group of unidentified people, he raised both of his hands in surrender, to hopefully show them he meant no harm.
"Excuse me?" He called, to get their attention, and immediately had a few weapons pointed at his face. He could've expected that. Natural reflex in the zombie apocalypse. Now, he didn't particularly like weapons being thrust in his face...but he would have to deal with it for now. But he wasn't dangerous to them, at least, not unless they provoked him to be, so they had nothing to worry about. For all that he knew.
Chris' eyes ran over those he saw, some grown men, a couple women, and a kid. That was unusual, but a nice sight. None of them looked like bandits or anything, but it wasn't as if he had much they could rob him of.

At Rebecca's command, weapons were lowered but he was still given a few wary glances. He thought the voice sounded familiar, and as a young woman approached him, her face was familiar also. He tilted his head to the side slightly. "Do i know you...?" It took him a moment but soon it clicked it in his head. "Rebecca!" His face lit up with glee at seeing such an old friend.
"I didn't recognize you, sorry" he apologized stepping closer to her and giving her a light hug. "You grew out your hair. It looks nice." He was going to be as friendly as possible now. She was an old friend and that immediately boosted his mood.
He took a step back from her, "It's good to see you're holding up alright. Better than i have by the looks of it," He made a small little gesture with his hand to the group around him.
Some of them were still watching him carefully, looking him over, to see if he was bitten. He got the idea and raised up his hands again, "I'm not bit, i'm careful. I swear."

Albert was in one of the back rooms of the building, talking to the teen he'd taken a liking to. It wasn't official, but the teen was essentially his right hand man. While they were talking, he could hear some commotion going on outside, so he wrapped up the conversation and went out to find out what was going on. As soon as he saw Chris, he went rigid. The entire country and he had to show up here? He'd managed to avoid Chris for five years, but Chris had finally found him, inevitably.
Rebecca had recognized him and kept his secret, but if Chris had the chance, he would out him without a second thought. So Wesker had to get rid of that threat before Chris saw him. He turned to the teenager behind him and ordered him to arrest the newcomer and lock him in a room until he had a chance to talk to him. The teen nodded and walked forward as Albert backed into the doorway and out of view. The teen announced that Albert ordered that the newcomer was to be arrested and locked up until further notice. Immediately, those men who had relaxed and lowered their guns raised them again and aimed them at Chris. "Hand over your weapons now. Don't resist or we will shoot," one of the men declared.

Jefferson, the teen who had ordered Chris's arrest, gathered the weapons that Chris left behind, and Albert moved into one of the side rooms so that he remained unseen while Chris was being escorted into the building. He could hear the men, a few of them wondering why Chris was a threat, but none of them were suspicious. They had all come to trust Albert's word. A few years of Albert's orders saving their lives had given them plenty of reason to trust him. Whereas this new guy was an unknown, and if Albert didn't trust him, then they didn't either. Of course, they'd have questions about why, but Albert would have an answer for them when they asked.
Jefferson found him in the room and offered the discarded weapons. "Put them in my room," he ordered. The teen nodded and walked out. After making sure that the hallway was clear, and Chris wouldn't be able to see him, he followed Jefferson to his room. Naturally, he had questions. "He's a man from my past," he said. "And I need to be sure he can be trusted before I let him walk free among the settlement." That was enough for Jefferson. Would it be enough for the other men? He hoped so.

The rest of the men cleared out, only two stayed behind to stand guard at the door. Albert could see the questions in their eyes as he walked up. He waved it away, saying he would explain it to them later. "I need to talk to him alone. I'll be okay on my own," he said. The men nodded and walked away. Albert unlocked the door, stepping in and closing it behind him. "It's been a long time Redfield." He pulled the sunglasses off and hooked it onto the collar of shirt. There was no need to hide his eyes now. With or without the glasses, Chris would recognize him. He just hoped that Chris didn't start yelling and drawing attention, that he'd give him a chance to talk. "Sorry about the...room arrangement, but I had to be sure that you weren't a threat. You know how it is." He put one hand on the Eagle on his hip, showing Chris who had control of the situation. Chris' weapons had been confiscated, and he couldn't possibly match him in hand to hand combat.
