Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist...and a Newbie! I HAVE AN ENTRY for #2! Name: Dumo (Fame, renown in Zulu)
Personality: Dumo is a chip off the ol' block. He's got his dad's 'can't touch this' swagger and generally comes off as obnoxious and egotistical. He's incredibly smart, but doesn't let others know. He prefers them to think that he's a big, dumb lion who throws his weight around without thinking, when really Dumo is calculating every move and possible outcome of his actions. He's fiercely loyal if you can get close enough to break through his loner shell, even though he might not show it when it doesn't count. If he's your friend, though, you'll always have someone to stand back-to-back with in a fight.
His cocky and 'better than you' attitude is pretty hard to deal with though, and while he prefers to be alone, there are times when his loneliness eats him up. Thankfully he has his wonderful family to snuggle with when he's feeling a little blue.
Prompt: Prompt 2
Response: Dumo chewed on a bone happily as he lounged under a tree, enjoying the silence around him. His siblings were further off playing, his parents were away, and he had found a nice little treat to occupy himself with. Teeth against bone and the flies around his head were the only sounds to be heard for quite some time, and Dumo couldn't have asked for anything more.
When a familiar voice cut through his silence he lifted his head, chewing the last of the bone as he sought the source. His sister, Poe, had wet paws and seemed to be giggling as one of the older cubs in the pride sat soaking wet only a few feet in front of her. The larger cub didn't look happy and, as Dumo knew, he was the type to bite and scratch first and ask questions later. Had it been anyone other than his sister he would have sat back to watch the drama unfold, but as the rage built in the bully's eyes, he knew he had to intervene.
Taking the remains of the bone, he stood and trotted over to the watering hole where the bully was turning around to confront Poe. Dumo narrowed his eyes and dropped the bone, turning around so his backside faced the other lions. Putting his back paw on the bone, he aimed, tensed his muscles, and kicked as hard as he could. The bone went flying straight and true, knocking the bully in the back of the head.
"C'mon, slowpoke," he jeered as the larger cub turned around, even more furious now. "Gotta be quicker than that if you're gonna mess with my family."
It turns out, the cub was pretty fast, but so were his siblings. The tussle that ensued left Dumo and his siblings a bit scratched and bruised, but the bully worse off by far. The little lion smirked at the retreating cub, holding his tail high in pride. You mess with this family, you get what you deserve.
