Lock nodded and moved forward. But then a herd of minipets came by and made an obnoxious amount of noise.
"That wasn't me," he assured Shun. The other boil hadn't thrown a knife. So maybe it didn't count ...?

Hearing Lock speak up alerted him. And the following rustles of paper did not help his case. One knife went flying in the younger reaper's direction.

Lock yelped as the knife grazed his arm. Jesus Shun was uncomfortably alert.
Part of him was a little envious though. Perhaps he'd be like that one day too?

He stepped on a board that creaked slightly. Lock quickly shifted the weight of his foot to the other side, but it was too late. The damage was done.

Shun's head lifted up as he heard something. And in that instance, he launched another throwing blade in Lock's general direction. OOC Lock will now receive a permanent buff to this exercise. For one roll in each round, you may use a +1 modifier. [

This time, Lock was ready for the dagger. His free hand pulled shadows from the darkness of his messenger bag. They wrapped around the dagger like a viscous sort of water, and he used it as a way to rotate the blade and deflect it away from himself and into a pole in a nearby wall.
Then he went back to the beginning. Damn you Shun.

He began slowly. There was still noise, but it was so slight that if Shun could hear it, Lock would get down on his knees and worship him as the new Jack Skellington.

Lock tried to take a different route this time. Instead of circling around his back, he was just going to go straight towards him and sneak it on to his side.
Maybe Shun would be caught off guard by the strategy?
