"I was gone too." His head tipped under her touch, and in many ways, he was her opposite: his own emotions an open book written across his face, the way he held himself. She was winning him over, even if slowly, that edge of heartbroken misery fading away already.

After a moment, he stood: one rolling, graceful, well-practiced motion.

"I've...I've barely settled in, but with things how they are..." He floundered, shrugged, tucking arms in around his body. "I thought you'd be here."

"Well I am now," she said briskly, "so so much for that excuse."

There was a brief pause in which Ollie could have pushed the issue, or whined more, or pouted at her -- and then, all at once, he reached out to grab her hand to pull her along, fingers weaving comfortably with hers.

"I'll show you my new home." She had no choice in the matter.
