Mikael thought about Reno's question for a moment when he Elekid was brought out. "A real trainer's Pokemon...." He mused quietly, admiring the small electric-type for a moment. The Pokemon's light was comforting in the encroaching darkness. "Can I?" He'd ask, taking the Pokemon and holding it close. It was warm.
When the man began to question his loyalty, if he would be willing to do as he was told, that he would face his fears willfully or otherwise, he hesitated. Was he really willing to do that? To listen without question to a man he had just met? Especially one who had so easily influenced his mind as he had done not but a few moments earlier. The more he thought on this, the more he began to realize that, in spite of the danger and the risks, he had a goal, a dream to chase and if he didn't find his strength of will somewhere, he would never achieve it. With that thought driving him, he, finally nodded. "I agree.....Teacher." He said calmly. Teacher was the best he could come up with for a respectful nickname.

Nodding at Mikael's answer, Reno looked down the road for a moment before turning back. "We start tomorrow then. Rather not have all this going on before we get a central location like a city or something.Lets go." He told the Dunsparce hybrid, carefully beginning the trek towards wherever their destination was.

Holding Sparks close to his chest, Mikael began to walk as well, heading towards Violet City. He seemed to be in somewhat of a hurry, too. His mother must be looking for him by now. He'd been gone for forever after all.
"I was kinda thinking about trying to join Falkner's gym....." He said absently. "I can fly, after all. At least a little bit." He figured his own ability to fly might make the gym leader ignore the lack of Pokemon the boy possessed. He'd always been too scared to go on a journey like the other kids in Ecruteak when he turned ten and had simply been hiding away in his home until now. Catalytic life changes had forced his hand now and that was the only reason he had left home, after all. He quietly mused on those thoughts for a while along the trek to Violet, speaking to Reno only if the man spoke to him.

Reno kept silent as they walked towards their destination of Violet City. While any other day, he would have been speaking up and trying to get a handle on what the kid knew, something kept distracting him on their walk. What was that strange feeling he kept getting in the back of his mind? Shaking his head occasionally as they walked, Reno would absent-mindedly walk into Violet City as thoughts of how to train Mikael finally crossed his mind. A few looks of recognition would cross the faces of the town, but Reno simply kept walking through until the pair found themselves near a few broken-down looking cars and a small cabin in what looked like a junkyard.
Tripping over a loose piece of scrap metal, Reno would finally come to his senses. "Wait, where are we? We staying here? Okay. I'll work with it." Calmly walking up to the cabin's door and opening it, he quickly found it deserted. "Not sure how you let me do this, but tomorrow we train." Reno announced, before muttering to himself, "How long was I out? Last I saw was....that route out of Acruteak? Dang."

Mikael followed Reno into Violet city, staying quiet as he tried to keep his fears from overtaking him. He wasn't really paying attention to where they were going and before long, he looked up at the sound of the redhead's voice to see that they now stood in the middle of a wasteland of assorted junk and trash.
"Ew." He said quietly, wrinkling his nose at the smell coming from all around them. He couldn't tell if it was decay or the various fluids from the surrounding vehicles. Regardless of where the smell was coming from, he flapped his wings a few times to try and clear the air directly around him. It only made the smell worse. "I was...." He started, gagging for a moment before he could continued. "Kinda thinking we could sleep at the Pokemon Center tonight..." He had no way of knowing that only people who were registered Pokemon trainers could rent a room at the Pokemon Center.

Reno turned to face Mikael before speaking again. "Only registered trainers can 'unker down in those establishments. That and I ain't the most reputable guy. Might get some trouble fer that." Blinking a few times with his eyes visibly bulging in sudden shock, he took a deep breath before continuing. "Plus, this is where you'll be training. Gives us plenty of targets to without having ta pay much fer them." When he faded into his fictional Cockney accent this time, Reno was unable to recognize the switch and simply wandered into the central building before grabbing two small mats and laying them on the floor. "There we are, sleepin' arrangements. Better rest up and be ready fer tomorrow." He added before quickly laying down to fall asleep.

"Oh...." Mikael replied, giving a downwards look at the floor. That was embarrassing. When Reno laid out the mats and mentioned going to bed, he nodded silently, though he made no move toward the one Reno didn't appear to have an interest in. Instead, he sat by the nearest window and looked out at the moon, wondering how much longer it would be until sunrise.

The sunrise would arrive sooner than Mikael expected, leaving him asleep wherever he had laid down for the night. When he awoke and took a look around, he would quickly notice that something was currently missing from the room. Namely, his self-described teacher. Outside, Mikael might swear he heard the sound of dragging metal with the occasional ringing of metal on metal impact. This was something interesting.

Mikael only slept about an hour or so that night, waking up just as the sun rose, though he never indicated he was awake yet. He'd watched as Reno left the tiny shack and, eventually, wandered outside at the sound of metal moving and clanging as it was struck. "What's going on?" He'd ask groggily, rubbing at his eyes. The dark blue rings around them more prominent than the night before. The ongoing sleep deprivation had it's effects, after all.

Reno looked over to his new insomniac friend, waving him over to where he had just finished dragging a few brunt out car bodies together. "Welcome ta hybrid trainin'. Today is an obstacle course. Yer gonna run it a few times, I'll point out what needs work and how ta improve it, rinse an' repeat. Its nothin' fancy, but I need an idea of what you can do." Grabbing the Dunsparce hybrid and hauling him to the beginning of the course, he gave him a apt on the back. "Just go ahead. Ain't nowhere ta go but up from here on out."

Mikael squeaked nervously as he was picked up and moved bodily to where Reno had decided would be the beginning of this obstacle course he had made. Before he moved, the young hybrid looked the thing over from one end to the other, figuring out where he was supposed to be going as quickly as he could. Once he sure what the path was, he began to try and make the course, tripping over himself almost immediately but getting back up and going right back to it. He would finish it eventually but not without much stumbling tripping and faceplanting into the ground before, with an audible groan of irritation, he finally put his wings to good use, flapping hard to get a foot or so off the ground and flying the last few yards in order to avoid another mouthful of dirt. Once he reached the end, he would sit on the ground for a minute or two, rubbing his nose and watching his tail drill flick back and forth.

Walking over to where Mikael was laying down on the ground, Reno nudged the Dunsparce's tail in efforts to attract attention to it. "Ya don't exactly keep a mind a where yer tail is. Its a part a you, but ya can't forget about it. That thing might be yer best weapon and ya shouldn't just leave it swingin' wildly behind ya. Maybe try coiling it up some, have the tip stay close to your shoulder for a quick strike. Also, nice job with the wings. Good ta see ya can think on yer feet. Now, do it again." Reno backed away from the Dunsparce hybrid before motioning at the obstacle course, waiting for his pupil to get up and start again.

"Do I have to?" Mikael asked, really not liking the prospect. "The ground tastes like oil and pain." He said, grimacing as he stood up, trying what Reno had suggested. It felt incredibly awkward, though, so he ended up just trying to keep a better mental eye on it's location as he attempted to run the course once more. He'd do only just slightly better, though it did appear his tail was less cumbersome and he was a bit more aware of what he was doing with it now, though.

"Once again." Reno callously called out as Mikael rounded the corner near him, watching as the Dunsparce hybrid hopefully continued on his run around the course. And when he reached a third of the way through, just after having to maneuver around cars set up like a nice crash situation, Reno would tap his foot and a fair size clay disc would lob itself from a hidden launcher. "Incoming!" Reno shouted, watching the projectile sail towards his pupil. It was time to see what he could do when thinking on his feet.

Mikael would do as instructed, though he honestly didn't want to. Was this really helping him? When the clay disc was launched at him, he was distracted by attempting to fly over the "accident" scene and the disc was driven directly into his stomach, knocking him to the ground hard. "Oof!" The sharp exhalation was followed by a low, pained groan as he laid on the ground on his back, determined not to get back up for a while.
