Faatina smiled. She really felt like she was getting close... regardless of the fact that she was unable to pick up the tracks again. How was it so difficult to find three cubs? Didn't they make noise? She halted, shushing herself and perking her ears up. Nope, nothing. Nothing more than the noises of everyone else attempting to locate the missing youngsters. The lioness sighed, dropping her nose to the ground once more. Immediately, the wetness of her nose touched something soft and fuzzy and she sneezed. "Blah," wrinkling her nose. She glanced down. A feather! How pretty. But not very useful... Faatina moved on. The search for the cubs had to continue - she did not have time to be distracted by pretty things. But where could they be?

Something caught her attention, one ear flicking. A giggle of cubs? Her three sons that had snuck off, under the noses of the pride? No, one of her other cubs. She hurried over, ears forward and eyes stern. "Pilixcatzin, what are you doing out here? I told you AND your other two brothers to stay at the dens!" She didn't want to have to keep track of a cub while looking for three more!

Siobhan could only sigh, shaking her head. Her attention was drawn to her mate, the cub, and the cub's mother, one eyebrow up. Naughty cubs all around, it seemed! Pirate blood would be tricky upon the pride, for sure. She flicked her tail, continuing the search for the three naughty boys.

He let out a huff, watching Ixcatzin approach. His gaze returned to the cub, one eye closing as he mock-glared with the other. "I would say that that's still a no... By your own mother's rule." Natsu gave Ixcatzin a bow of his head, then joined Siobhan in the search. Surely soon somebody would find the cubs, right? He certainly hoped so! On the plus, they didn't have to worry about buffalo anymore.

Keani was keeping his spirits up. He was determined to find the missing cubs. What type of guard was he not only did he let the cubs out, though he wasn't actually on watch at the time. But now he couldn't find them either. He moved towards some bushes. He was trying to remember back to when he was a cub, where would he have hidden in the forest. The question of course was a silly one as Keani would never have wondered out into the jungle, he would never have stepped out of bounds. He moved forward and pushed some leaves out of the way. He looked down when the sun hit something and the reflection bounced back in his face. A shell! It was a beautiful shell and one that went well with the feather he had found earlier. He hadn't found any cubs yet but he was collecting everything he need in order to make a beautiful necklace for Naida.

Atl contiuned to push further along his path that he had been following. He hadn't seen anymore cub trails in awhile but he hoped that they had just got smushed with everyone else walking around searching for the three missing boys. He moved in towards a bush and began to nose around in it. He wouldn't be surprised to find cubs hidden in bushes, heck when he played hide and go seek with them in the pride lands they often chose to hide in the bushes as they were too small to be climbing into trees. He heard movement as he pushed further into the bush hopeful that he was hearing the cubs moving inside. All of a sudden he got a sharp peck on the nose he backed up quickly pawing at his nose as he came out of the bushes. "Damn bird" he muttered realizing what had happened. No doubt he had just found the bird who was the owner of the feather he had found only moments ago.

Determined to find something other than feathers Meli began to search harder pushing her nose into bushes trying to sniff the cubs out since her sight wasn't doing anything other than finding sparkly shells. As she sniffed about she got a tickle on her nose. Backing up and wrinkling it up she looked down and saw a beautiful blue feather on the ground. She smiled at the pretty article picking it up and tucking it away quietly. The search wasn't really turning up any cubs. She was starting to become amazed that the cubs had made it as far as they had. Crazy how far they could get in such a short little time, apparently there was more she needed to know about cubs before she had any of her own.

Faatina's ears flicked as she heard the mother of the tan cub scolding her for following them out. She turned her head, seeing them in the distance, and let out a chuckle. Regardless of the rather serious situation at hand, it was a tad comical for the small cub to be so adventurous as to sneak out of the Bahari lands after them. Just as she was about to head back to the search, something shiny caught her eye. She glanced over, moving the brush out of the way with her paw to discover a shell. How beautiful! They had many in the Bahari lands, scattered throughout the beach - it was no small wonder she found one out here.

Keani was quickly rewarded for his persistence when he spotted tiny little paw prints in the dirt ahead of him. He immediately got serious all thoughts of his mate leaving his mind he narrowed in on the little prints, it was as if he had tunnel vision all of a sudden.

"I found something" he called out not really to anyone but if someone where near by they might have heard them. He quickly added "There are some paw prints." just incase the worried mother heard him and thought he had perhaps found her babies. He put his nose to the ground trying to pick up a scent he wasn't a wild dog but his nose should work somewhat.

Alt heard someone call out saying they found prints and he shook his head, the paw print he had found had lead him to nothing other than flipping birds. The green lion shook his head a bit, his nose was still throbbing from that damn bird. As he was licking his injured nose he heard giggles. Excited thinking perhaps that sounds could be that of giggling cubs. He moved quickly and bounced behind the rocks where he heard the giggles only to find a group of giggling birds. "GET" he basically yelled his anger getting the better of him, he had had enough of birds for the day. He just wanted to find these cubs.

Meli could hear commotion all around her but she tried to remained focus and seek out the poor lost babies. She continued her assault on the bushes, she felt that it was the best place to be looking. As she moved into the bushes she heard a bit of rustling getting excited she extended her paw and very gently peeled back the leaves hoping to revel at least one of the boys there. Instead she found a bird there. It let out a loud squawk before he turned and headed back further into the bushes. Meli tried not to laugh, and slowly backed out. Based on how unfriendly that bird was there definitely weren't any cubs hiding in that bush.

Kuruka heard the commotion while she'd been skirting the edges of the Kizingo'zaa lands and decided to venture out to see what was going on. It didn't take her long to bump into a wave-tousled female from the Bahari pride. In the distance, she could see others, nosing around - they appeared to be looking for something. Kuruka turned to the female nearest her - the tan Bahari girl. "'Scuse me, what is it you're looking for?" She tilted her head, awaiting an answer.

Faatina scowled, finding another shell. Where on earth were the paw prints?! It was then that she heard an inquiring voice behind her. She whirled around, smiling at the rather brightly-colored female behind her. "There are lost cubs! Some of our cubs wandered off, and it's all hands on deck for the search. Care to join?" She hoped the other female would join them. After all, it's always the more the merrier - especially where recovering lost cubs was concerned.

At the answer, Kuruka immediately nodded. "Oh, of course!" She glanced around, deciding to go in an opposing direction from everyone else. Almost immediately, her eyes were drawn to a cluster of tiny paw prints. This had to be them! Unfortunately, they were too cluttered to give her any indicator of where the cubs could have gone. Frowning, she moved on.

The story teller had heard of the cubs wandering lost, and joined in the search party for the infants. It seemed they were on the right track for them, which was encouraging. The sooner they were found, the less trouble they could get into, right? The green lion snuffled around, trying to distinguish between the scents of the pride members and those of the cubs he had never met. Some scent led him right to the money, he found some paw prints!

"Over here!"

Quote:
User Image Deimos followed the call of a pride member's voice to lead her over to some tracks. They vanished after a few paces, lost over some some leaves and greens that didn't preserve paw prints well. She was a hunter, well suited for this, right? She shied away from becoming a nanny for reasons just such as this. What if it had been her who had lost the cubs?! She didn't dwell on it too much, though. Her laser focus proved vital when she rediscovered the paw prints.

"I think we've almost found them!"

Quote:
User ImageAhti tried to follow the calls of the other lions, but the builder was not a very skilled tracker or light stepper. He tried to follow the cubs' prints, but when he thought he was just a stone's throw away, he poked his nose through the bushes and only found a startled and indignant bird.

"Oh, sorry..." He grimaced.

At least some of the other pride members appeared to be having some luck. It seemed they would be found soon, though.

Keani kept on following the trail he had found the young male was excited. Perhaps he could prove his worth as a guard and end this search right now. Keani always doubted himself, having a grandfather that was a guard meant Keani was always looking up to him trying to be as good as he was. He continued along the ground and was pretty sure that the paw prints led into a bush. He was sure that this meant the cubs would be in the bush so he pushed his nose in excited to found them. His excitement ended quickly when a bird let out a great squawk and scared the daylight out of him. Backing out of the bush quickly he stumbled backwards out of the bush and fell on his a**.

Atl was still made about having found the birds when he thought it was the cubs. Atl was growing more and more frustrated with not being able to locate the cubs. Atl wasn't exactly known for his abundance of patience in fact the only time he was really known to have a single ounce of patience was when he was caring for cubs, they managed to bring out a softer side in Atl that most didn't know existed. He grumbled as she searched and came upon a cluster of tiny little paw prints. Unfortunately they were all on top of another, it looked like perhaps the boys were wrestling here. It did little good though as you couldn't tell a direction out of the mess of paw prints. He knew the cubs had been here but that was all. Sighing he sat back and took a look around trying to figure out where he should look next.

Meli took a deep breath, her search had found nothing other than feathers, shells and an angry bird. Sitting back on her hunches for a minute she tried to refocus. She was still having a good time searching and looking for the cubs, although she was proving to be a terrible searcher. As she sat she scanned the jungle around her and her eyes caught a mess of tiny paw prints, she moved towards them and studied them. They definitely belong to cubs, and mostly they belonged to the cubs they were searching for, but as she studied the mess of prints she realized they held no other info other than the cubs had been here. Sighing she continued to look around for something more.

Coduim was still following the tracks he had found, but they became a muddled mess. Well, he supposed, when there's three little ones running around, they're not going to have a very linear, easy to follow route. He blew a puff of frustrated air and plopped down. He had been so close, he was almost certain he had found them! The green lion frowned and felt like giving up, but that wasn't fair to the cubs who might be scared or in danger. He pushed on.

Quote:
Deimos grimaced. More tracks but no cubs! But still, they were only getting closer! She put her nose to the ground, trying to memorize their scents, as they were still quite fresh. Soon... She could almost hear them. Or maybe it was just her imagination. Each twitch of a leaf or sound of a rustle could possibly be them. The pink lioness was leaping left and right to try and suss them out.

Quote:
The large blue and white lion was distracted by a feather left behind by the bird he had startled. It was shiny and iridescent. He picked it up, tucked it into his mane for safe keeping, and only then trotted off towards where the cubs' tracks had been found and were presumed to be headed.

Ixcatzin spared a glance at the others, as she started to usher her cub home. While she was worried about her three missing sons, she didn't quite trust her daughter to go all the way home on her own. After all, despite the order to stay put, she'd clearly decided to come along anyway. Ixi could only assume all this naughty behavior, as benign as it otherwise presently was, came from their sire. She couldn't recall her brother and sister running off when their mother had told them to stay put, she certainly hadn't. In fact, she'd stayed with her mother long after she should have gone solo, but that was more out of concern for her mother than anything. Coaxoch was, after all, a shy lioness... As Ixi spotted the ever-worried Dimbwi, she pushed the thoughts from her mind, and was soon rushing to return to the rest of the group, assured of her daughter's safety.

The more they searched, the more they found, it seemed. More birds, that was for sure. They seemed to be taking advantage of the newfound absence of the buffalo, darting in and out of the folliage without fear of disturbance and the return, in the cases of some species, of food sources. Unfortunately, many were apparently mimicking the laughter of cubs and confusing them all. As she came face to face with one, she cursed at it, giving a swat of her paw. But some of the laughter, it seemed, might have been coming from cubs after all. More tracks were found, as Codium and Deimos joined them, which meant soon their hunt would be over. "Natsu, when we have cubs, I'm using vines to secure them to the dens until I can trust them enough to NOT run off like this!" She had, at least, observed the blue lioness doing her very best, even with the more experienced help of others, to keep her children in line. Like Ixi, Siobhan had come to the conclusion that any naughty behavior must have come from their father.

At first Natsu laughed at Siobhan's statement. Then he stopped, eyebrows rising up. "When we have cubs..." He didn't think of how Ixcatzin's cubs were sneaking off and the like. He didn't think of how he himself or Siobhan had acted as cubs. No, he thought of her brothers. Not for the first time, though usually he did it while alone, his gaze flicked in the general direction of the rogue lands. Every day, he expected her brothers to pop up and try to chase him off. Though now that he thought about it, as he swallowed his fear of not fatherhood but the uncles down, the cubs they sought, and their littermates, DID remind him of Siobhan and her brothers. At least, so far they did. Time would tell if the five boys would turn protective of their baby sister like Siobhan's brothers had.

Keani noticed a female searching in the same area as he was. He kept checking about and he heard a bit of a giggle. He turned and looked towards the female who was close by to see if she too heard the same noise. When she saw that he gave a nod he moved quietly towards the rock peaking around it and saw it was just birds. He let out a sigh and shook his head, "They are just birds" he said to the female that was there with him. Perhaps they could search as a team now.

Peering around Atl moved towards another set of bushes. It was possible the last set of paw prints that he had found lead here. He stuck his nose into the bush just as he heard the tell tale clucking of a bird. "You damn birds are no help!" he said with a sigh. They were leaving feathers, everywhere, hiding in bushes, snickering behind rocks. This whole hunt would be much easier if these damn birds would get the hell out of here. He sat back letting out a huge sigh. He was going to find these damn cubs if it was the last thing he did.

Meli noticed the female at the same time that he had noticed heard. As of an unspoken agreement they decided to search together. When she heard the laughter she noticed that he was already looking at her she gave him a subtle nod to indicate she too heard it. She waited while he went to look and then frowned when he told her it was nothing more than bird. "I never knew there was so many birds in the jungle. It's as if the whole bird population is right here in our way." she said. She was determined to find these damn cubs but these birds were making it really difficult to find them.

Deimos Ahti 341
Quote:
Well, he hadn't given up yet, as a matter of fact, he felt like they were quite close. The large, green lion could almost reach out and touch them, at least in his mind's eye. He parted some large leaves, sure his paw would make contact with a little furry body and the search would be over, him the big hero. That, actually, he wasn't very worried about. He just wanted the cubs to be home and safe with their mother, tragedy averted. But when he saw what was concealed behind the green curtain, he was disappointed. A beautiful, shiny shell. He groaned and sighed and stared at it. Well, he figured he might keep it. What if he was trying to impress some classy lady somewhere down the line?

Quote:
Deimos was about ready to pull her fur out and scream. More paw prints, but a cluttered mess of them. She'd been hot on their trail since she joined in, almost within reach of those little buggers, but they were always one step ahead of the hunter. She let out a quiet roar in frustration, not caring if the sound would scare them further off. At this point, with her tracking skills still failing her, she wasn't even sure if they could be found. Heavy footed and steaming, she traipsed on.

Quote:
Ahti stumbled upon another feather and added it to the one in his mane already. They could be valuable later on, who could really tell at this point? In spite of how it looked that he was just meandering around aimlessly, he was still looking for the cubs. He just was taking a more leisurely approach.

Continuing his search with his new female partner in crime. Keani moved towards some bushes. He could hear some rustling in them and again the young males excitement peaked. Perhaps this was it they had found them the search could be called off. He began to crouch down to wiggle his way into the bushes before he felt a paw on his shoulder. He paused waiting.

Atl tried to regain his focus and was soon rewarded with another little cluster of paw prints. He studied it walking in circles around it. It was similar to the little cluster he had found earlier, unfortunately it gave him no direction, all he could tell from these was that there was cubs her. Reasonably speaking it was safe to assume that the prints belonged to the three boys they were looking for. Now if only Atl could find paw prints that he could get a sense of direction from.

Meli was distracted for amount and when she looked back she saw the male she had begun to search with crawling into some bushes. She looked around trying to regain her sense of direction. Realizing quickly that he was heading into bushes that she had already searched. She reached out and put a paw on his shoulder when he paused she told him, "Not that bush there is an angry bird in that bush." she told him and as if on cue the bird in the bush let out a warning hiss. Quickly she backed away from the bush she wanted nothing to do with that particular bird.
