[PRP] Ghosts [Chel/Shun]

"Oh."

Something bad must have happened. Worse than reading. The last time Shun "hadn't wished to talk about it," it had been Heliodora, and before that, his dad. She wondered if he was really telling the truth that he didn't kill someone for it. She wondered what Shun was like when she wasn't around. If there wasn't something she could do about it.

But mostly she was continually hurt that he couldn't trust her with whatever it was.

"Well alright. S'at why m'here tonight? 'Cause m'pretty good at makin' people forget s**t fer a while."  

[Blade Kuroda]

"Something like that," he muttered, shrugging lightly. It would take much more to cleanse his mind of those images, but a small distraction would not hurt.

It should not, anyway.

The price of failure was a great one. It was something he was going to need to keep in mind.

He was very aware that he was continuing to close Chel out. But it it was better this way. It was always easier to keep things to himself, rather than to expose any vulnerabilities he might have.

Chel looked at him for a moment or two. This is what she was good at. This was her use. If ... Shun kept her around for this and only this ...

At least he kept her around. That's where she stood with people.

Chel pushed herself off the edge of the couch and offered him a hand. One that could be pulled down or used to pull himself up so they could move elsewhere. As much as Shun locked himself away to keep his vulnerabilties safe, Chel had her own ways of doing the same.

Shun stared at the extended hand for a moment. Letting out a breath, he took her hand and pulled her down towards him.

He was told he needed to reach out more. That didn't mean he had to open up.

Chel had debated leaving afterwords. Less mess, less for her to deal with. But Shun was off and she was off and it didn't feel like leaving was going to fix it. So she stayed with him on that couch until he told her she needed to go.

At some point she fell asleep on him.

At a later point she woke up and debated moving to the floor. She stayed anyways. Easier to ask forgiveness than permission (at least to Chel).

At a third point she woke up before he was moving somewhat erratically beneath her.

"Shun?" she said tiredly, trying to find what was causing it in the first place. Maybe he was trying to get her off to leave, but from what she knew of him it felt like another of his nightmares.

She finally pushed herself up and began to shake him lightly. "Hey c'mon man. Wake up."

There was a struggle. Some assailant that he could not quite make out assaulted him, throwing him against the steel cabinets of the archives. In an attempt to defend himself, he lashed back, black blade in hand. He missed his mark, and he felt his attacker's hand grip his own.

As much as he fought back, he could not pry himself away. He could not force this being off of him as his own weapon was turned against him.

Shun's eyes snapped open as he gasped, unconsciously punching out at whatever was 'pinning' him down.

Chel took the punch to her gut and the wind was knocked out of her but she didn't budge.

After some choking gasps she managed to say, "Hey, hey. S'okay. S'jus' me Shun s'okay."

Breathing a little heavily, it took Shun a moment or so to come to full consciousness. He stared at Chel for a moment, "Chel?"

She reached down to hold her side. "Hoo. Yeah. 'As me." One hell of a way to be woken up. "Yer okay. S'jus' a dream."

Shun rubbed his face, still slightly disoriented from the abrupt awakening. He noticed she was rubbing her side. Right. That was hime.

"...You alright?"  

[chiickadee]

"Course, yeah. Don't worry 'bout it." She was still having some trouble breathing from the sound of it. "You okay?" There was genuine concern there.  

[Blade Kuroda]

"You really... should be careful if waking me from a dream," he muttered lowly. He was slowly relaxing, though he was still fairly tense at the moment.

"...Yes. I am fine."  

[chiickadee]

"Sorry," she mumbled. For all Chel was saying, she wasn't sure what to do. Get off and leave? Stay and comfort him? Not to mention her mind was reeling with the reality of being punched. She'd avoided it this long. Why now, why Shun?

Her brain all but short circuited with thoughts. "I didn't mean to."  

[Blade Kuroda]

"You did not mean to get punched? I certainly hope not," Shun huffed. Shifting a bit, he looked around to try and see what time it was. It apparently was right smack dab in the middle of the night right now.

Chel crawled off of him to give him more freedom of motion and situated herself on the ground, still holding her side gingerly. She used the other hand to fan some of her hair to one side.

"What were you dreamin' 'bout?" she said quietly, leaning her head on the couch cushion. She closed her eyes with a frown. This didn't bode well.
