Chel had utmost faith in the four left behind; one was Jack after all.

What she didn't have faith in was any magical being that said it one way or another. Look what had happened with the tithe when they'd trusted some of the magical figures.

"Least we're together," Chel agreed. Better than being alone in the past. You had to be optimistic about these things.

It took a few more streets before they found a bar; something by the name of "Mayhew's Pub." It looked gross. Chel loved it. "Shun uh ... No offense but maybe I'll do the talkin'?"

Glancing up at the bar they were approaching, Shun tilted his head, then glanced over at Chel. He just huffed out and headed on inside, taking a moment to look around. The interior was kind of dimly lit, and it was then that he realized something.

Either his nightvision was less effective, or it wasn't something he had any longer.

Glancing off to the side, he eyed a salt shaker on a table and attempted to move it a bit with his mind. Nothing.

"Does not seem we have our magic here either..." he muttered under his breath.

Chel snapped her fingers and pointed at Shun. No go. "Seems like it." It didn't bother Chel much. In fact she found it kind of relieving.

She left Shun to his own devices; he hadn't made any indication that he'd wanted her help, so she assumed that meant he wanted to do his own thing.

It only took her a moment or two to size up the bar. Some shady men in the corner; she wasn't going near them just yet. A handful of men talking amongst themselves in a friendly way; seemed to be out to have a good time. One man downing drinks at the bar; too close to the barteneder.

She found a good one; a guy who seemed to be leering at some of the women at the bar. Easy pickings.

She sat near him and started a small conversation. The typical "come here often" kind of thing. It didn't take long until she was leaning over to tell him something he wanted to hear. In the same motion, she pulled his wallet out of his pocket, pretending to pull at his side. She used the free hand to knock over the man's drink and in the commotion, swapped hands and pocketed the wallet. It was an old trick she'd used many times before she'd had a job. Especially when Chris wouldn't lend her the money.

The man was embarrassed by the enormous spill and Chel offered to pay his bill so he could leave to clean. She gave the bartender a tip; with her own money, of course.

Once the man had left the bar, she found a dark corner and leafed through it. Not a killing, but at least enough for a good pair of clothes.

Having completed her half of the bargain, she looked over to Shun to see how he was fairing

Shun couldn't help but sneer a little once inside the bar. There were quite a few smokers in here. That was a rather unpleasant scent. While he moved further into the bar, he kept an ear out for anything he might be able to work off of. No one was really talking about anything that might be worth while, however.

So instead, he walked out and moved on around the building to locate the back entrance. It just so happened that the pub was receiving a delivery of alcohol. The detective offered to help move some of the booze in, mentioning nothing of payment just yet. He did so efficiently, effectively, and without any complaint.

It was enough to earn a few bucks.

Chel rolled her eyes. Even in a seedy establishment, Shun managed to find the nicest way of doing things.

She went to wait outside for the time being. She didn't mind the smoke so much, but she preferred not to be at the scene of the crime if that guy noticed his wallet was missing.

It wasn't much, and he was going to need to find more cash sooner or later, but it was something to start with. Moving on around towards the front after that was all said and done, he just grunted at Chel before heading out to see if he could find a not so shitty place to stay at for the time being.

"You know m'not a dog, right?" she said, pursing her lips. "Don't just grunt at me."

But she was following beside nonetheless.

Shun seemed to ignore that comment for the most part. He just kept an eye out for the nearest hotel, inn, motel, or whatever. Several blocks had to be walked before he spotted what might be something further down the road.

"Over there."

Chel grunted at him.

Shrugging, he continued on towards it. Sure enough, it was a Motel 6. He actually had no idea what the current rates were for rooms normally, but he stepped on in. Six dollars for a single room for a night. Apparently that was where its name came from. That sounded incredibly cheap, even for the past.

But he didn't have that much money on him, that he could actually use, so it would have to do for now.

He just hoped the quality of Motel 6's were better 'back in the day' than they were in 2016.

Chel gave his arm a shove and handed him the wallet.

Shun swatted her hand away and placed down his earnings for the day. It would do for now. He just would need to get more later.

Chel sighed. The guy at the counter was giving them both looks. "Just give us cheapest room you have," Chel said, opting to be the personable one of the two. "An' don't bother us f'you know what I mean."

It seemed an acceptable enough lie. She'd much rather the hotel staff think they were on a romp than what they were actually here for. Plus it'd get people to leave them alone and not ask questions. The man gave them their keys and a short explanation of the hotel's (very minimal services) before shooing them on their way.

"You g'head an' get our s**t settled," she told him, walking towards the hotel's exit. "Saw a Macy's 'cross the street. It'll jus' take a sec."

Shun quirked his brow at Chel, then took the key to their room. He just nodded, leaving her to her own devices as it seemed she was just going to pick up some clothes anyway.

Once he reached the room, he went ahead and changed out of his current attire. His new one was... a little too colorful for his tastes, but he'd put up with it for now.

Shun had more than enough time to himself as it took Chel a while to dig through the hideous ancient gogo dresses and blue powder suits. That, and finding some clothing she could afford.

When did return though, she knocked on the door once before entering (it was her room too now, after all). In her hands she had her own clothing and for Shun, a leather jacket. "Got you a present." Thankfully people still wore leather jackets in the late 60s. Not as nice as Shun's modern one of course, but this one would probably blend in more.
