Almost as soon as she spoke that question, Selene regretted it. She was afraid that it might cause that woman to lash out at her. She edged closer to the door, loosely wrapping her fingers around the doorknob. She didn't think she could get it open fast enough if that woman did try to go after her, but she could try. Sadly, she did not remember that the door was locked. She was too focused on the blonde. There was no way she could tell what she might be thinking. She just couldn't see well enough to tell more than that she had looked at her. Her expression was a mystery. The quiet that had been comforting in the bathroom was now only making her nervous here. It could mean so many things.. Naturally, her mind leaped to the worst assumptions.
She was all too aware of how loudly her heart seemed to be beating. It almost felt like it was trying to escape her chest with how hard it was beating. She felt kind of nauseous again. Maybe if she threw up, her heart would come out too. That thought almost made her want to laugh. But the silence was soon broken by the woman's answer. Selene went very still as she began to talk. At first, her already low opinion of this person was lowered even more. She did.. All of that for no reason?! That was the assumption her first words left her with. It was easiest just to think the worst of her, after all. Hate was easy. So was fear. Most of all, she was scared by that. If she could hurt her like that for no reason, then she could do far worse.. She could hurt Val.
She would have left right then, with even more fear towards her, but the woman continued talking. About her body being taken over and being unable to control 'them'..? Who were them? She kind of recalled her talking about something similar in the bathroom earlier. She didn't understand it. Perhaps even more disturbing was the woman's tone. Selene knew she could easily be faking, but she sounded.. Genuinely distressed. Not like that fake niceness yesterday. She didn't believe it. And yet, there was a part of her that almost felt.. Sorry for her. There had been something off about her voice before, but it wasn't there now.
There wasn't really anything she could say to something like that, not that she wanted to talk anyway. When the woman was done talking, and she waited a minute or so to be sure, she turned the doorknob. Or at least, she tried to. It didn't turn. Her attention shifted from the woman to the door. Turning her body towards it as she gripped the smooth metal knob with both hands and tried to turn it to open the door. It still didn't move. The door didn't even open. She began to grow a little panicked as she struggled with the door for a couple minutes.. Until her tired brain finally registered that she could unlock the door. Then she had to fumble with the lock until it clicked open. Once she had the door open, she wasted no time in leaving. Fleeing down the hallway as quickly as she could without so much as a backwards glance. She wasn't running though. She didn't have the energy for running.
