"I wpuldnt recommend it, Keiko," Night said after drinking half her coffee, "They run background checks on everyone that comes in that isn't already a client. Knowing V, that name probably does have some sort of background that will reveal something."
Finishing her coffee, Night stood and poured herself another cup. Clearly, the hybrid had replaced her alcohol addiction with caffeine. Or perhaps it was just her nerves getting to her.

"That's fair," Keiko shrugged. "My background's not that difficult to find out. The parts of it I'm aware of, anyway," she added, hinting at the fact that she's still unaware of who her biological parents are.

"I wonder what ever happened to ole Sammy." Sub pondered in response, folding his arms and thinking on it for a bit. "Oh yeah...I remember now...did I ever send him those flowers and card? Can't remember...oh well." He shrugged.

Several cups of coffee later, a man wearing a very expensive-looking suit stepped into the waiting area and looked at the three sitting in the chairs, "Ah, Ms. Gauthier. Been quite a few years since I last saw you," he said, giving Night a toothy grin.
"That was, of course before your, ah, little incident. Tried telling your parents I'd work your case for you. Pro bono, of course. Don't really work too many criminal cases, you know. Your mother, though, she wouldn't hear of it. Seemed convinced you needed more severe punishment. Speaking of, I called them and they should be here shortly, if you and your .... companions," he glanced behind Night at Sub and Keiko, giving them a look one usually reserves for insects, "would, follow me back to my office. We can begin as soon as they arrive." He turned and began leading the trio down the hall towards a door with a brass plate engraved with his name, Akira Roba.

Keiko notices the look Akira gave her, but ignores it completely, not wanting to make things worse for Night by saying something unbecoming. Instead, she stayed silent as she stood up, ready to follow Night when she moved to follow Mr. Roba.

Sub wouldn't utter a word as the uppity man showed up and made his statements, he would be a good little gentleman for the most part, only sullying his decorum by mimicking the man's 'look' in a more exaggerated manner. If he had spoke he would have probably said something like, 'Look at me! Hurr durr.' But he didn't, he would behave, for now.

"Alright, Roba," Night said, the second the door closed behind them. She ignored his silent attempt to offer the trio a seat, despite the fact that the small couch he'd offered looked very comfortable, "What, exactly, do my parents want with me? You weren't very informative with your letter."
"I'm afraid I really can't disc-" Mr. Roba began to say, before he was cut off by Night.
"Oh, don't give me that bullshit," nothing in Night's current demeanor reflected the bundle of nerves she had been before. No, this was the calm, collected Night. She would not give this man the satisfaction of seeing her rattled by what was to come, "You summoned me here to discuss my inheritance. So your lawyer/client confidentiality crap doesn't apply. I want to know why you sent for me."
"Please Ms. Gauthier. I really must insist we wait for your parents to arrive. Now, would you, or either of your guests, like something to drink while we wait? Tea or water, perhaps?"

Keiko wouldn't bother resisting sitting down in the couch, silently surprised at how comfortable it is. By the time Roba made his remark about handing out refreshments, Keiko had entirely forgotten about the look Roba gave her, too busy being chill to be salty. "No, thank you," she would say sweetly.

"Tea, please." Sub simply asked. If he was going to have to sit around until her parents showed up then he was going to need a drink. The man didn't seem too worried about Night's outburst, at least not yet. He knew when to really worry.

"Nothing for me," Night said, still standing and staring at Roba.
"Very well," Mr. Roba leaned over his desk and pressed a button for the intercom, "Cyndi, could you bring Mr. Bates some tea?"
A few moments later, the door opened but it wasn't Cyndi with Sub's tea. A dark-haired man entered the room, followed quickly by a woman with bottle blonde hair who, immediately, threw her arms around Night. The younger woman made no other reaction than visibly stiffening.
"Oh, my baby girl, it's been far too long," the woman exclaimed, not picking up Night's negative reaction to being touched.
The man, meanwhile, simply grasped Roba's hand, "Thank you for getting her here, Akira. Although, we weren't exactly expecting anyone else to be here for this family meeting." He glanced over at Sub and Keiko, giving the two a sneer as Cyndi walked in and handed Sub his tea.

Keiko scooted away from Night to give her parents room to walk in, mostly because of being afraid of how Night might react to their sudden presence. She tried to smile politely should any of them glance at her, though, still wanting to help Night get through all this. Setting people off would not accomplish that.

Sub said after getting up and throwing his arm around the hybrid's shoulders. "If there is a family meeting involving her then it has to involve us too." He insisted before taking the tea from Cyndi. "Thanks." He said with a wink, looks like another persona of his was slipping through.

Mr. Gauthier turned fully towards Sub, giving the younger man his full attention, "Now listen here, young man. I don't know what claim you may think you have to call Aleissa your family, but she is my daughter and you have no place here. Neither of you," he turned his glare towards Keiko before returning his attention to Sub. It was very clear where Night got her fiery temper from.
Meanwhile, his wife immediately released Night and stepped back the moment Sub stepped in and threw his arm over Night's shoulders, "Wait, who's 'Night'?"
Though she'd never admit it out loud, Night was immensely grateful to Sub in that moment. Whether or not he knew, Sub had just given Night exactly what she needed to ground herself and get her head back in the game.
"Roba, could you have Cyndi come escort these two miscreants out? I won't have my daughter involved with any more gangs."
"No," Night said, subconsciously moving slightly closer to Sub, "These guys took me in when you two kicked me out and left me to fend for myself. They're more family to me than you ever will."
"Oh, Aleissa. You joined another gang? After what happened last time with that Alexander boy?" Her mother asked, giving her a shocked, almost disapproving look.

If Night didn't step up and speak in Sub's and Keiko's defense, Keiko would have. Likely, with less success than the hybrid got. Nevertheless, despite the glare from Night's father, Keiko neither moved, nor made a sound, fearing that she'd only make things worse. Despite that, she was here for Night, come what may. Still, there was one question that burned in Keiko's mind, one that threatened to to be asked despite Keiko's concerns. If these two... people who claimed to be Night's parents kicked her out and left her to fend for herself, why are they acting so loving now? Something definitely felt off about all this.

Ms Edyn "Oh, Aleissa. You joined another gang? After what happened last time with that Albert boy?" Her mother asked, giving her a shocked, almost disapproving look. "A gang? Madam you have us confused." Sub insisted. "Did you hear about the Shadow Plague that spread across Hoenn awhile back? We were the ones who put an end to that, risked our own lives to save the common man. Your daughter far from a gangster, in fact she is a hero and you should be proud of what she has done, a lot of it no one will know of but that's okay, she does because it's what's right." The man said, standing up for Night and Snagem but stretching the truth a little. While they did step up and help save Hoenn they were not saints like he implied. Little white lies.
