Which Witch?
Designer: RENstrawberry
Model: Madison
Description:
It begins to rain on your way home. Straying off the path you head into the forest to try to make it to shelter sooner. You stumble upon the forest’s clearing. Purple trees give way to a cascading orange sunset. There she stands. You witness her demonstrating her magic, almost as if she wanted you to catch her. “A Witch!” you think. Taking in the sight, you begin to question… is she a good witch or a bad one? What shall you do next? Run to safety and have the townsfolk burn her at the steak? Or leave her be… and chance a future encounter?

I fabricated her outfit from fairly sinister violets initially, then added some softer greens to contrast the purples and create a story for the “Which Witch?” theme I was going for. I wanted to add some orange items to her and began with the butterflies. The insects were placed so perfectly with the arms, it looks as if she’s summoning the creatures. I added several layers to background to tie in more orange with the faint purples hues. The subtle rain the orange skies add was an interesting touch. The rain gives her hat purpose, as the headpiece shields her entire figure from the rain to avoid melting like a true witch.

Cheers
Designer: Empress Ekko
Model: Copper
Description: This first challenge was pretty fun! I never knew before now about the incredible lack of simply orange shoes (could only find two, by the way). I felt almost obligated to use "Pumpkin Orange," since Copper's hair is that shade. I didn't want to have clashing oranges User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. From there, I had to figure out what color I wanted to go with the orange: Green or Purple? After a bit, I narrowed it down to either "Spring Green" or "Miserable Purple," and decided to go with Miserable when I found the Ornate Overskirt. From there, I built an avi around that skirt and created this beautifully elegant ball scene where Copper ends an eloquent toast and gives a "cheers" to the crowd.

"Stand Strong, Firm, and Rooted like a Solid Tree"
Designer: Tink_Bel
Model: Zahara
Description: Wow, guess I see where this cycle is going with a first challenge like this! And here I was expecting something easy from you. wink This wasn't easy for me and it force me to get out of my color scheme comfort zone. I'm also so use to a light skinned avatar that Zahara offered an additional challenge finding juuust the right tones to go with her dark features. I ended up searching for a guide on colors and experimenting with a lot of them before finding the ones I liked. I ended up landing three different shades of green; sage, leaf, and olive. Based on Zahara's features, the chosen colors, and the difficulty in the challenge itself I landed on the theme of a tree based avatar. This is to represent Zahara and I's dedication to "stand strong, firm, and rooted like a sold tree" throughout this cycle. It's good to be back!

"Carrot Ballad"
Designer: METTAT0N
Model: Trinity
Description:The hardest part of this was using schemes that didn't feature large patches of neutrals and use the secondary colors as accents. Monochrome with bright accents is usually my M.O so this was pretty different from what I usually do. Casabah is an incredible color scheme that I never really appreciated before this challenge, but I'm glad I found it through my research on Creamsicle, my favorite orange on site.

"Autumnal Equinox"
Designer: l Have Given Up
Model: Xoco
Description: "When Summer makes way for Fall, she comes out in all of her glory, here to show Summer up, right on time. Her borderline cold attitude is hardly reflected onto her vibrant visage. Bright orange, to bring warmth to her cold heart." - This piece was rather difficult for me, to be quite honest! I'm rather used to two-toned color schemes, but I'm rather glad I was given the chance to do a solid scheme. It was hard finding a set of items that all held the same shade, and I will admit, I am not satisfied with the lack of items on my model, but I thought it better to go simplistic this round, and to showcase the color, and my model herself!

I look forward to the judging, and I wish luck to everyone else!

"Welcome to Madness"
Designer: khionna
Model: Veronica
Description: Welcome, I've been waiting. Fall into my realm of madness and see where you land! ~

I really wanted to work with the vibrancy of toxic green and plum purple. I love how bright these two colors are and how they pop when combined. I also love how the shading on the background fades out into darker greens for contrast to the brightness of the colors in the front. I think the hardest part was getting the venom color scheme to work without showing black too much as well since it is an integral part of the color scheme and I only needed the toxic green and plum purple parts.

    Something Wicked this Way Comes
    Designer: Botticellis Venus
    Model: Dita
Description: The palanquin stops in the middle of the meadow, ordered to a halt by the resident inside. She removes her deck of cards from the pocket in her gown and calls upon the goddess to guide her, for she felt an ominous wind rising as the sun set. The wind blows and the cards lift into the air before her, one landing in her hand; it's the tower. She stands in shock as she holds it to her, for she knows that death and destruction are on their way.

This really was a challenge. I tried several different combinations and settled on this one because I love the richness of the colors; I didn't want anything especially bright or bold. Once I settled on these colors, it was still a challenge to create something that didn't have accents or primary colors. I also knew that I needed something to compliment Dita. She is pretty but she seems lost in her own world and has a far off gaze so I wanted something that would play into that as well. Phew, that was tough.

    In the Garden
    Designer: Kiwi Cannoli
    Model: Kate
    Description:
To me, gardens are a magical place. I remember being young and playing in the gardens around my home, with all the beautiful flowers around me. One of my favorite things to do was to spin around in place; I would spin and spin and spin and when I stopped, sometimes I would see stars all around me.

When I first started I wanted to have as little green as possible because I was scared it would clash badly with her red hair. After playing around with a couple different purples and oranges for awhile, I realized that purple wasn't really Kate's color(the shades I was using anyway) I took a break and came back and realized with the right items she can look somewhat childlike, so I rolled with that. I messed around with different shades of green but decided to go with Tea Green and Shamrock in the end with a little bit of poppy to add more color.

    Designer: Your Local Gay
    Description:
at the young age of 258, Yubaba was an oracle before becoming the witch everyone knows and fears. when the crystals fell, your past and your future would become known, whether you wanted it to or not...

hachi machi this one was a doozer, but the challenge was more than a little fun. i realized my process when designing kind of messed me up here for a bit. i'm one to think about theme (or 'story') first, style second and color last. i spent quite a bit hopping back and forth between colors; mainly miserable, creamsicle, shamrock and 'spooky' but felt none of them really got a across the feeling i wanted. then i remembered a particular sunset item in my invo, and thought "Ahh! Perfect!" sunset has the right amount of bold and flashiness without being too bright.

    THE LAVENDER MENACE
    Designer:DAVlD DUCHOVNY

    Description:

They told her not to dress like that, not to dress like a guy, not to cut her hair short, not to kiss girls because it was wrong. She was connected to the world though, and she refused to lie to mother earth, she wanted to love like the rest. She refused to leave no trace.

This was actually a really emotional project for me and I did cry a lot while doing it because it reminded me of when it came out that I loved girls. I knew I had to use purple as my main colour. Purple has so much meaning to me. In older days purple flowers were given to female lovers as a sign of lesbian or bisexual love and in the 1970-90s the lavender menaces were started, a group a lesbian women who came to together to work for human rights. I have saved some wonderful pictures if anyone is interested. I wanted to add green to the purple, to show that being a woman who loves women is natural and inspiring and lovely and connects you to others through a circle of life and a world that doesnt stop thriving. Last but not least I decided to use the item butterfly kick next to the horns to finish it off and add a soft of f- you to those who say gay people belong in hell, being that my name is Moth.

    The Dancer
    Designer: PixelPlays
    Model: Ebony
Description: She had an otherworldly glow about her, the light golden, spilling in from the windows. She swept her arms through the air, ribbons dancing around her feet as she twirled. A wink and a smirk from behind a fan. A breathy giggle as her skirt fluttered around her hips. She radiated confidence- this was her element.
i know i'm supposed to post the process description in this message, but it's kinda long, like several paragraphs long, and everyone else has only like three lines, so here
Anyway, sorry I took so long, i've been having narcoleptic episodes all day and yesterday and it's a little difficult to work when you're asleep.
This isn't based on any kind of dancer specifically, mostly because I don't think Gaia has any yukata or uchiwa, soooo...

    Title: Spring Outing
    Designer: Princess of the Raindrops
    Model: Mia
    Description:
Mia enjoys spending her Spring days out at parks or in the busy city with style. Using the wonderful color scheme of Melon, I felt inspired by my garden, the green leaves and soft colors. Spring and summer also give me that free feeling that make me think of open shoes and flowing dresses. I tend to wear one pair of sandals all summer, and a variety of dresses or skirts. Being that there are a lot of colors and art in my city, it was hard to choose just one scheme! I wanted to use more vibrant colors, but with the skin tone of Mia, more subtle colors suit her best, keeping her skin from being washed out. The hat was a last minute touch, I had a hard time figuring out what was missing, and looking through the melon scheme I found the hat! A perfect finishing touch, keeping the cute spring look.

    Spring Sass
    Designer:
    rnadotsuki
    Model: Iona
Description: I never realized how difficult it could be to put together an outfit that wouldn't let you combine more than three colors. At first I was pretty sure I'll be done with this without a sweat, but honestly once I got to it, it definitely caught me off guard. I knew from the get-go that I want to focus mostly on green, because out of the three available colors I like this one best, but it never occurred to me how difficult it could be for me to avoid other colors like white. Calabash suddenly felt like a good choice to go for, but even then it turned out that there are far less items that could be of use without breaking rules. I have never felt so out of my comfort zone with avatar making before and it's both exciting and terrifying.
In the end I attempted to emphases on Iona's face. To me she looks confident and a bit sassy, so I chose items that would further bring out that in her.
