Janine would smile at Leon's response and without warning would take the senbon and expertly fling it at Leon's right shoulder, the senbon aimed not to stab into him but scratch his shoulder, which it did. The scratch was more than enough to inject the venom into Leon, the man would almost instantly feel a burning sensation flow through him as it quickly spread down his arm. The venom would instantly inflict pain upon its victim, the muscles clenching up painfully.

"Now, Ariados." The gym leader ordered. In response to the command the mentioned spider would drop down from the ceiling and snatch up the rest of the senbon on the wall with a well aimed String Shot, pulled in the needles and stuck them to the sides of its body, four in all and two on each side. The spider would then scurry onto the wall and back onto the ceiling where it would cling to it upside down, staring down at Leon.

"Guess you'll have to go fetch the rest of the senbon." Janine said with a grin.

The Ariados would be caught off guard by the sudden flurry of petals causing one of the needles clung to its side to fall off and clatter against the floor. With its back legs the Ariados would correct its mistake with the other needles by wrapping them up in silk, turning them into little cocoons stuck on its body. While the back legs did their thing the giant spider would punish Roselia for attacking it as the spider's eyes began to glow, the arachnid attempting to use Psychic to throw the flower Pokemon into its trainer and keep them away from the fallen needle.

While Roselia wasn't particularly heavy and thus didn't have much force behind it nor was the Poison Jab particularly powerful when considering typing, the attack would serve its purpose well. The spider's skinny frail legs would give out easily upon being struck, the Ariados losing its grip on the ceiling and falling to the ground, unfortunately the three other cocooned needles remained fixed to its body this time.

Scrambling back up onto its multiple legs the spider would hiss at Roselia before rapidly crafting and hurling a large net made of silk at the plant as it utilized Spider Web.

The Mega Drain wasn't particularly powerful due to typing but it was enough of a distraction for the Ariados to miss the stray petal that zipped by and cut open one of the cocoons, the poisonous senbon inside falling out and rolling onto the ground and out of its reach. Immediately the spider took note of the senbon rolling away and would attempt to snatch it back up as it fired off a String Shot at it, ignoring Roselia for now.

Ariados became increasingly angered by the Roselia on its back, punching away with its poison infused flowers, the hits more annoying than anything as the spider desperately flailed its back legs at the living rose to try and get it off. That's when the tornado formed around them both, the annoying petals pelting the Ariados, adding further problems to its predicament.

With an angered hiss the Long Leg Pokemon would unleash an explosive wave of Psychic from its body to blast the Roselia off of it. However, the Petal Dance had loosened not one but both of the cocoons, sending them flying towards opposite ends of the room, the Psychic wave knocking them completely off the spider.

"Impressive." Janine spoke up as she approached her Ariados, petting the spider on the head as it stared down Roselia, menacingly. Apparently the spider didn't like being duped like that what happened with that last Petal Dance. All's fair though. "How you feeling?" She asked Leon as both her and her spider approached the trainer and Pokemon pair. "You're actually the first person I've seen survive this test. Then again it's the first time I've administered it myself so I'm a little glad you succeeded. Don't know what I would have done if you failed." She said with a laugh. That was...an unsettling thought.

"Really? You are still pursuing this path? After all you just experienced? Knowing the pain you'll one day be able to inflict on others?" Janine asked Leon as she stared him down, searching his eyes for the answer to her questions. She would indeed find her answer before he even spoke, the gym leader letting out a heavy sigh. "Poison Channeling is a dead art." She began to speak, recalling her Ariados before she continued. "There are none who still practice the old ways, no masters to find. All that knowledge was lost after the War of the Elements over a thousand years ago. Artifacts too, all destroyed." The woman explained as she had her back turned to Leon, now turning back to face him. "Is that the answer you wanted? No, it wasn't, was it?"

"Well aren't you clever." Janine said with a smile, as if she was hoping Leon would catch on so when he did it thrilled her. "You are absolutely correct, there is still hope. The masters of old were ninja, shinobi, just like we are here. Like I said though, after the War of the Elements they disappeared. Why? Because they feared their own powers and what it was capable of. But that's all I can say about that for now. Despite their destruction it is my family, my clan, the Morpho Clan, that was given the sacred duty to guard the last remaining bits of knowledge about Poison Channeling. Or duty is to prevent the knowledge of it from ever falling into the wrong hands. Even if that means...well, you know what ninja used to do." She said with a smile.

"Either way, you have proven yourself worthy to at least test your latent powers, though know this, the Morpho will always watch you. If you ever abuse your powers...you get the idea." She chuckled. "Now, to the point of all this. Deep within the Fuchsia Forest, past the Safari Zone, is a marsh. It is there that it is said our clan's founder discovered his powers and artifact, befriending and bonding with one of the Venomoth in this strange marsh. The marsh is unique in that only two living things live there; Venomoth and the helein rose. There are two types of helein, a white and black. The white has been used as medicine and the black a terrible poison but make no mistake, both can be deadly if used improperly." Janine explained.

"Legend has the Venomoth take care of the roses and jealously guard them, chasing away, or killing, anyone who dares trespass on their marsh. Our ancestor is said to be the only human to ever be permitted in the marsh. How, why, and what he found there I don't know but the marsh is still there, as well as everything else. If you wish to truly unlock your abilities that is your best bet. Whatever my ancestor found, you might too, if you live." The gym leader cocked her head slightly after finishing, as if expecting Leon to give up.
