A new challenger joined the fray and Scarback was less than impressed. This brown seemed to be all bluster. A deep rumbling growl started in Scarback's chest as the other brown drew closer. Throwing himself to the side Scarback sought to slam his body into Terrask. See how bold he was after that.

Not this time, fights weren't on his mind, this was the chance he had to be a sire to eggs. He might not be the fastest, but he was damned sure he was going to try while others were distracted by fighting, that said he wouldn't just sit back and let another wher get away with attacking him, he would fight back but the other would have to strike the first blow.

Several of the males seemed focused on the chase, ignoring the scraps and bickering of others and surging forward. Well, he couldn't have that now. Darting between feet the brown stayed low. Another brown caught his eye and Viosk aimed a snap at Herosk's feet he went by. He wasn't strong and the snap might not even connect at all, but even if it just threw the other male off then it would be a win.

Oh heck no... some weak upstart wad trying to throw him off his game? That was NOT happening, he wasnt out yet, and he defended himself.... this boy must be really dumb to have tried it in with him.

Herisk wasnt letting this male off lightly, even if he wasnt going into full fight mode, the green was just TOO important, however he slashed out at Viosks face with sharpened claws, if he could blind the other even temporary it would put him out of annoying other serious males.

Mission accomplished as he temporarily distracted Herosk from the chase. These bigger whers were all the same. So focused on being proud that all it took was a slight threat to their image and their heads could be turned. When Herosk swung for his face Viosk ducked out of the way, a high pitched rumbling akin to a laugh coming from the small brown. He'd have to do better than that if he expected to take Viosk out of the fight.

A glance over her shoulder told Mezask that her plan had succeeded. Outrunning all the competition wasn't necessary if they took each other out before she became tired. It all accomplished the same goal, finding her the best mate. They needed to be able to outlast each other to be worthy of siring her eggs. Some had already fallen behind, mainly from fear or injuries as no self respecting male would be tired at this stage.

Still this straightforward running was beginning to bore her. It was time for a different kind of challenge. The green's turn wasn't as swift as that of some of her smaller sisters, but it should still provide a challenge to the gaggle of males. A small slope allowed her to scrabble out of the gulch and back onto a more open plane. This wasn't her goal however, Mezask ran across the flat rock until her target came into sight. Now this would be a challenge for their bravery.

Mezask's feet drove out a steady rhythm as she ran towards the gorge. It wasn't that deep. A few meters at most, but it would be impossible to tell that from the direction she had led them. Temporarily she turned her thoughts away from her suitors and into driving herself forward. Making like an arrow she ran straight for the edge of the gorge. Maybe they would think she was going to turn at the last minute, but Mezask had other ideas. Just before the cliff gave away she dug in her claws and leapt, clearing the chasm and landing on the other side with a heavy thud. Not taking a moment to recover the green kept running, casting a look over her shoulder to see how the males reacted.

oooh that was close, he only just missed the other brown wher, he would have left it at that and ignored the smaller brown but that laugh irritated him and he skidded to a stop, turning to slash again at Viosk's face.

Then again maybe not. The brown darted down, ducking underneath Herosk's slash and between his legs, continuing the chase. Better luck next time. Aiming a snap at the other brown's feet again Viosk carried on, his barking laughter followed as he ran off after Mezask. It was so fun to rile up another male so easily.

Jumping, he could do jumping. Grensk threw all his weight forward in an effort to build up the momentum needed to clear the gap. He was a big bronze and it was a lot of weight that he was throwing into the air. His jump was good, but not perfect. He thudded onto the other ledge hard, his back feet scrambling for purchase to haul himself up. At least he had made it across. Once he was able to pull himself up over the lip of the cliff the bronze gave chase once again.

Scarback skidded to a halt at the edge of the gorge. He needed to survive this run in tact, there was no squishy human to bandage him afterwards, so he wouldn't go blindly hurling himself off ledges. He looked over the edge of the gorge and found it not to be that deep. He could clear this gap, so instead jumped down into the gorge, and tried his best to climb up the other side swiftly. He'd lose time, but rather that than breaking a leg.

He did not have TIME for this, under normal circumstances Herosk might have quit the chase there and then to teach the other brown a lesson but he had a green to catch, one who could clutch.... He snarled as he tried to get his feet out of the way of Viosk's teeth, leaping up, somewhat impressively for one of his bulk, and continued the chase

That gorge was wide, too wide for CrackFang to feel he could clear, and like Scarback he had nobody to care for him if he was wounded. Without hesitation the lean blue bounded, leaped, and skidded down the side of the gorge and started to scrabble back up the other side as the more powerful males made the great leap overhead. At least down here though he should be safe from attack, unless the other wild male decided to start something with him.
