Spooky, being able to sense the spiritual energy approaching, was quick to make himself visible. Amber, having known the Ghost-type for two years and being able to understand his actions to a point, immediately knew that something wrong. The Shuppet only made himself visible around people he didn't know well when something bad was about to happen, or he was protecting Amber. "Send up a signal, quick!" she said, then turned to Keiko, since she was the closest. "Keiko, get out of here! Spooky's sensing something, and I don't want to be here when it arrives!" As she was speaking, she was running toward the main path, while Spooky, on Amber's orders, fired a Thunderbolt into the air, hoping to alert the Snagems that weren't close to them that something was wrong. Amber was hoping that they would be able to get out of the way, but only time would tell.
TerashiLeonGoken
Instinctively, after hearing Amber, Keiko opened one of the Pokeballs on her belt without taking the time to check which one she was opening, then proceeded to stand in front of Amber and wrap her arms around her chest, activating Endure. That way, if she and Amber were attacked directly, Keiko could protect the younger girl by taking the brunt of the damage .

Meanwhile, Daedra, Keiko's Sliggoo, would fire its own Thunderbolt into the air, aiming close to Spooky's attack without the two colliding into each other.
Darksol88
"Hm?" First, Sol would notice Amber and Spooky's reactions. Then he'd notice the energy signature rapidly approaching. Motioning in the direction he felt it from and looking to his Scorbunny, he figured to try and keep it at bay- at least in so much as a blind shot might allow. "Inigo, fire an Ember to your left and keep your guard up!"

Opting to comprise a sort of vanguard for the rest, he and Inigo would keep their ground for whatever or whoever was approaching while the Scorbunny fired off the Ember as directed. Take that, grass.

A figure in a brilliant white cloak burst forth from the grass, the robe catching fire and singing slightly from the Ember as it approached. The hem of the thing blackened and frayed as the heat spread across the garment but it didn't seem to deter whatever this was in any way shape or form as it glided purposefully towards Keiko and Amber. It was tall, judging by the silhouette and it towered over the pair of them as it reached forwards, elongating its arm with outstretched claw-like hands to... flick Keiko lightly in the forehead.

"What a way." Darts gripes as he throws back the hood of his ceremonial kimono to reveal his Giratina crested head and blood red eyes. He takes off the robe and stamps the fire on the bottom of it under the heel of his boot, extinguishing it from lack of oxygen. Brushing soot away from the fringes of his actual jacket, it ripples slightly in response to his touch. "To greet an old friend." Slinging the white garment over one shoulder he looks at all of them in a battle stance. "That bad huh?"

Of course the Ghost-type had sensed him first, being part Ghost-type like he was. The energy that was off about it had been Darts' natural Dragon energy. "I can feel it." He says suddenly, gazing off into what seemed like empty distance.

"In my defense," Sol remarked as the figure made itself known as someone who- surprisingly- wasn't much of a threat to them and eased up a little. "You've been gone for a while and I'm not exactly a psychic. Besides, it's only a few singes, your kimono will be fine... wait."

Noting that Darts had turned towards a seemingly empty area and the remark, he'd have Inigo lower his guard too for now. Slightly. "Feel what? I'm assuming there's another energy source we're not noticing yet."

Amber was surprised when Keiko, instead of running, placed herself in front of the younger woman and activated Endure. Whatever was coming was coming on fast, but Amber was hoping it wasn't hostile. That being said, Spooky readied a Shadow Ball, just in case a battle went down. Apparently, it wasn't needed, as the figure that approached was a familiar one, or at least one that Amber had seen a few times around HQ.

When the figure spoke, throwing back the hood of his cloak to reveal himself, Amber let out an audible sigh of relief. "Geez, you scared us!" she said, a little irritated that the hybrid had just randomly appeared the way he had. "We're searching for a missing child, and GRAY has apparently gone off the deep end." She glanced at Spooky, giving a slight nod along with a look that told the Ghost-type to stay on guard, and the Shuppet let the held Shadow Ball fade, making an annoyed grumble at Darts before turning invisible again. At Darts' words about 'feeling it,' Amber looked back at the hybrid. "What can you feel?" she asked, a little apprehensive at the fact he looked like he was gazing off into empty space.

Keiko scoffed at Darts, letting her arms loosened as her hands grabbed her hips in an annoyed pose. While she didn't recognize him, she could tell he was a Snagem from the gear he had on him. Before addressing him, however, she'd look down to the Pokemon she let out to find her Sliggoo, Daedra. She was pretty sure someone else's ball was in that spot, but it wasn't important now. "Daedra, honey, cover the area with Protect. There aren't any threats around so we don't want anyone with us getting hurt by those Thunderbolts."

While Daedra surrounded the Snagems with a protective aura of Normal-type energy, Keiko furrowed her brow at Darts. "Did you really need to make a flashy entrance now? GRAY is bad enough with the way he's acting, not to mention having to worry about the poor lost child we're trying to find." Keiko let out a sigh in an attempt to forcibly calm herself down, her arms rising to fold in front of her solar plexus. "By the way, you and I were never formally introduced, so how was I supposed to know the strange, eerie aura rapidly approaching us was you?"

As soon as Aile said that, the striking colors of the discarded clothes hiding nearby caught Absinthe's gaze, who was trying to keep as close an eye on her surroundings in an attempt to fight off her natural impatience. "Eh... do we know what the missing kid was wearing when he was last seen?" Abby asked, grabbing the shoes and holding them up for Aile to see. "Because these could probably be anybody's otherwise. Dunno if the locals bother keeping their routes clean or not."

"I don't think anything was specified, but most places tend to keep routes free from litter, considering all of the wild Pokémon..." Aile looked at her SNAG once more, bringing up an article for a moment before stashing the device. "Nothing immediately, but the editor of the article missed a misspell." Her head tilted when she looked closer at the shoes. "Huh? Is it just me, are the logos different on those shoes?"

Abby would probably notice rather quickly that yes, indeed the logos on the shoes were different. One of the shoes was definitely a local brand one that was most certainly on the champion's ensemble if nothing else. However, the other one had a weird but simple logo, some sort of large, wide checkmark, narrowing at the ends into tips, one that some might call a shwish? Odd that they wouldn't match, though....

Absinthe shrugged. "I guess we can hang on to them for evidence if nothing else. Not like we can stand around all day debating it. Sooner we find that kid, the better."

Shortly after saying that, Abby looked in the direction she found the shoes at. "Though maybe we should head that way and see if the kid left a trail..."

Kaya arrived in Postwick not too long after the others, left arm in a cast and sling, mismatched eyes grazing the landscape as he attempted to sense anything out of place. It wasn't his forte like it was with others but something definitely felt off about the area. "I dunno what's going on, exactly, but let's see what we can find while the others are busy." He decided aloud before spotting the others, mostly talking to himself as he said it.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 24, 2021 4:05 pm
As Abby and Aile searched around for clues the pair might notice some small footprints just off to the left side of the path heading north, but it would be difficult to discern where they were going or came from, as they appeared and disappeared suddenly, the shoes might prove to match but nothing else. Clues were scarce, might even be a dead end.

Once spotting said prints and deducing they were made by the shoes, and not much else, their attention would be drawn to the sound of flapping coming from just dead ahead them. They would notice a mass of green creatures quickly approaching them, the group hopping in unison. Once close enough they might note they were Natu, a large flock of them. The panicking birds would appear to be completely oblivious of the Snagems in their way as they skipped right past them, both of them getting hit by a few of the birds, the Natu quickly righting themselves and fleeing with the rest of their flock.

The birds would move on past them heading off into Postwick and likely beyond. Whatever they were fleeing from and their exact destination was unknown. The two would be afforded no other explanation for what just happened however knowing the nature of such Pokemon, and the fact that had to come all the way from the Wild Area, might provide for an ominous atmosphere for the two. Things just got stranger.

-----

The group in the grass would have their attention pulled away suddenly by a Pokemon's cry, however unlike anything they've heard before. The sound at first was strange but didn't seem too unusual at first, it wasn't until the second or third cry did the group become overcome with a feeling of wrongness by this cry. It felt out of place, somehow mismatched with this place, wrong.

The cry was coming just a few yards to their right, where some grass rustled and one of them might have sworn they saw something flying out of the corner of their eye before the rustling grass. Did it flee into the grass? One way to find out.

Curious of the footprints, Absinthe would store the shoes away in her jacket before following them, assuming that regardless of whether they were coming or going, they'd lead somewhere. By the time the Natu came stampeding along, Aile would be the only one to notice them unless she followed Abby right away.

~*~

Realizing the eerie, somehow wrong cry was nearby, Keiko sprung into action, abandoning her chiding of Darts in favor of Agility-rushing her way to the source of the pained cry. She made sure she stopped herself as she neared that patch of grass so as to not run over whatever was making that horrible sound.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 24, 2021 5:26 pm
Aile tilted her head, narrowing her eyes as Absinthe walked off, eyes only partially noticing the tracks. See, the thing with Aile now a days is that she tends to notice the vibrations in the ground sooner than others might, even with her staff on her back. "Tati...."

"Gon." The Flygon nodded, floating next to her trainer as Aile took out her staff and stuck it into the ground, focusing on the tremors everything was putting out. She was able to keep track of Abby this way, so she could catch up after she witnessed what was causing the notable rumbling ahead. "Huh... Tati, those are... Natu, right? Gah!" Quickly Aile would pull up her staff and grab a hold of her Flygon, to hold her up as the flock of Natu passed by. "That's.... That's not normal, by any means." Aile would let go once the flock passed, calmly falling to the ground before going to play catch up with Absinthe. At this point, no one should be alone, at least in Aile's mind.

Almost as if on cue, Sol would get his answer... but not from Darts. Instead, he'd hear a Pokemon's cry closeby. He didn't recognize it offhand, thrown off something fierce by the discovery that he couldn't understand it; after spending many, many years being used to understanding other Pokemon like he'd always known their tongue, hearing one and not immediately knowing what was said was culture shock. And it only got worse as he heard its cry again. And again.

Each time being both harder to understand and sounding like something he should've sooner had his Charizard around for- still shadowfied or no- rather than an inexperienced Scorbunny. For a moment, he was thankful that he had the foresight to have his blade on hand if things get too dicey. "Keiko, I'd-"

By the time he saw Keiko, she was already racing to where the cry came from and he couldn't have said anything else fast enough. What's worse is he was uncertain if that's what Darts was sensing, and had doubts that it would be. "...maybe not be so quick to do that." With a reluctant sigh, he'd put a hand on the hilt of his sword as a precaution and moved the few yards needed to defend Keiko if it came to it.

Or Darts. But if Darts couldn't hold his own, it certainly would be a cold day in hell.

Darts half-bemusedly watches Keiko yell at him for making an entrance before rushing off into the high grass at top speed towards the strange cry. "Maybe that's because you've never sat still for five minutes to get a proper introduction." He laughs. He hadn't made an entrance on purpose, the strange vibrations he had picked up from the Calm Mind training were centered here - the only thing to pull him out of the Village of Dragons in White Forest since he had begun his meditation ritual with the Drampa-hybrid master there, the 14th Laoweng.

That cry was nothing he had ever heard, and Sol, his old companion, no doubt knew it too. "Sol." he says by way of greeting, dipping his crest slightly in a nod/small bow as he noticed the Ho-Oh gripping the hilt of his sword. His first instinct was to run after and snatch up Keiko before she ran into whatever that was. The second was to run away and not face whatever was in those bushes. But his time in the White Forest had changed him, and he was no longer a slave to his own emotions in that way. Drawing a deep breath into his center, where that well of churning Outrage always bubbled in the pit of his stomach he called upon the rings in his mind as he had been trained to do, the Calm Mind centering him and bringing him focus as his breathing steadied.

The pair of them approached the spot cautiously, Sol with hand on sword and Darts with hands up in the fighting style he had developed through his time with the Mymay Clan. Whatever this was, it wasn't going to get off easy.

Amber watched the interaction between Keiko and Darts with amusement, though her guard was still up. Something was off about the situation, and she was hoping they could get to the bottom of it before something bad happened, if it hadn't already. Before she could say anything in response to anyone, a strange, almost otherworldly noise sounded; it almost sounded like a Pokemon cry, but at the same time, not. "What in the world was that?" she asked, whipping around toward the direction the noise had come from.

Spooky, a little unnerved despite being a Ghost-type, immediately readied a Shadow Ball, ready to fire if something jumped out at them. When Darts, Keiko, and Sol moved forward, Amber got a little closer, though she was careful not to get too close, just in case. Let the more experienced members deal with this; she was here if they needed help, though it was highly unlikely they would actually need her assistance.

"...Didn't expect you to be here, Aile."

The Pachirisu hybrid was pinged by GRAY, and had tagged along behind some of the others. GRAY wouldn't admit it to either her or Zwei, but the latter...she knew at least the abnormal-colored Yamper hybrid cared a lot about the AI

But the woman on the main path before her....Rhyme still held some reservations about it, but she was going to let it go. For GRAY's sake at least. "It's....good to see you again, though. Not...sure how much help I can be, but at least I'm here to help..."

She told Zwei to stay back at HQ, to keep an eye on GRAY just in case he got worse and to let her know if anything else changes. Miya settles on her shoulder, the Dedenne staring out at the others she is following.

The footprints led nowhere, they would appear at random and disappear at random as well, as if someone appeared and then disappeared. There was nothing else to see here. That was when they heard a scream coming from the grassy area...

-----

Keiko was fast, very fast, but whatever lurked in the grass had a faster reaction but not by much. A shriek would come from the grass in front of her just as Keiko stopped her Agility, with the sound came pulsating waves of dragon energy in the form of 'sound waves' which would slam into Keiko one after another, sweeping her off her feet. The sound was once again strange and otherworldly but that was definitely a Dragon Pulse, uniquely conjured yes but a Dragon Pulse no doubt. Darts would surely be able to deduce now they were dealing with a dragon, if he hadn't already.

As the group arrived they would catch a glimpse of something purple, quickly moving through the grass, its movement incredibly smooth and unhindered, clearly flying. The creature was quickly heading for a thicket and surely they would lose it at the speed it was going. They needed to stop it, now.
