{WS Herd Event} And Comes The Flood

Task: Shoring up the bank.

With Zosime's anxious-sounding encouragement ringing in his ears, Yarara stepped up the pace one more time. He could do this. They could do this.

He moved the stones Zosime provided to the bank, tamping them down and smearing them with mud to hold them in place. Something sent a shiver down his spine. Something was coming, and he wasn't sure if they had done enough.

The mare felt it in her hooves. An ominous rumble that quickly got louder and reverberated in her chest and bones. They had to all get out of the way and now! Zosime let out a shriek to get everyone's attention as she reared up.

"UP! GET UP! IT'S COMING!" She watched her herd to be sure everyone working so hard had heard her and was moving away from the river. Once she was sure everyone was getting clear, she lunged towards the safety of high land.

Tibantas could feel something building, like a deep pressure in his body. He jerked when he heard Zosime shrieking. Her order sounded like a fine idea to him. He leaped free of the muddy floor, sending stray droplets of mud in every direction as he beat his wings to gain height and safety.


As the ponies cleared away from the river and their desperate attempts to contain the river, the ominous rumble grew louder. From upstream a crashing wall of water filled with mud and debris swept through. Some, a small portion, was diverted down the channel they had cut. The rest slammed into the fortified bank. For a second it seemed it might hold. Then the water pushed passed without a second thought, spilling and tumbling down into the forest below.

Their efforts had amounted to nothing. The river swept down and through their camp, washing away items and filling dens with mud and tangled tree trunks. Zosime watched sadly, her head feathers drooping. "You all worked so hard. I am so sorry everyone. We will find a temporary place to stay until this clears up."

Thank you everyone who participated in our first event! The river has burst its banks and is currently flooding through the wind serpent's camp. It is impossible to enter without risking life or limb. Feel free to have your pony react as they see fit. Part two of this will begin next month! We hope to see you there!
