Caelean stopped. Whirled towards the door, instantly interested. If this was a clue that might lead him to Thorne faster, he wanted it, and he wanted it right then.
Thorne was an a*****e. Didn't always treat him softly or kindly. But Thorne was his a*****e, and he wasn't going to abandon him to suffer.
"Which way? Point me where they took him, or I swear you'll regret screwing with me." Not that he could really waste the time, figuring out how to get the door open, but. Running off with no direction at all would waste just as much time.

More snickering and a few guffaws.
“Hey man relax. Just head that way and take the first left that you come to. It will take you straight to your body.” All the doors rattled again with muffled laughter.
Meanwhile in a dark room sat a lone figure. Hunched over staring at their hands. Grungy red hair caked with dirt and blood fell over a shadowed face. The sound of rattling doors had found its way to the room and the hunched figure stirred just slightly. Lifting their head slowly to peer at their own door which did not move.
Back at the doors as Caelean went on the sound of laughter erupted all around him. All paths lead to the right.

The first left he came to. Caelean didn't bother saying another word, just charged down the hallway, looking for any kind of left turn. He didn't care who else was behind these other doors. Didn't care that they were laughing at him. Only cared that Thorne was here, somewhere, probably suffering, and Caelean needed to find him.
Except.
There wasn't a single ******** left path.
Caelean stopped, ears pinning back, and raised his voice as loud as he could.
"THORNE!"
Any kind of response might point him in a better direction, because he wasn't sure if he'd been lied to or if this...weird ******** place was conspiring to keep him from his mate.

“My my what a commotion.” A voice from the shadows, glittering red eyes peered at Caelean. Curious yet something more sinister behind them. “You keep shouting like that and he’ll find you.” The voice teased.
Even if he tried to squint his hardest Caelean’s eyes would not be able to pierce the darkness surrounding them. The sickly sweet scent of flowers and incense wafted into the air. It would be the only smell other than wet and blood that he would smell here.
“Who is this Thorne and why are you screaming their name? Oh!” The red eyes narrowed in amusement. “Did he configure the object? Oh ho ho ho.” It laughed. “They are ********.”

"Who is he?" Caelean demanded, furiously. He didn't care that this was some mysterious figure in impenetrable darkness--he cared that whoever this was, they were in. his. way. He didn't have the goddamn time to waste on cryptic bullshit!
"Because if that's whoever runs this ******** place, maybe I want to see him so I can make him tell me where my mate is." He took a sharp breath, and almost choked on the strange smell--flowers and incense and...what was that? Who was this?
"Anyway, maybe he did...configure the ******** object or whatever. That's not the ******** point. The point is: where is he. Vampire. Brown fur. Red hair, black streaks. Would have been brought here not too long ago. The ******** back there," Caelean jerked his thumb backwards to point, "told me to go left, but there is no ******** left. So why don't you either help me or get out of my way."

“Hmmm. Just as I thought. Quite rude. But that’s a kindred for you. Rude. Just like Caine.” They tsked.
When Caelean asked who ‘he’ was there came another laugh. “You really have no idea where you are so you?” Shadows swung out wide like arms being thrown back .”welcome to the Catacombs of the Underworld. Where the dragon prowls and tortured souls live in delicious, agony. What sights your mate must be being shown. I’ll only slightly jealous. Well, maybe not of the skinning part. Or the tooth pulling that one is quite painful. Oh but my favorite part is the….oh no why ruin the surprise. You’ll find out soon enough.”

Caelan could not make himself care if this stranger thought him rude. They weren't wrong, anyway; he was rude, brash, straightforward. And all of this was wasting. Precious. Time.
"How am I supposed to know where I am? We got pulled here! And I don't know anything about any Catacombs, or the Underworld!" Caelean's fingers flexed, claws sharpening at their ends. This...whoever they were was talking, gleefully, about Thorne being tortured--just more proof that all this chatter was a total waste of time. "Now tell me where Thorne is, or get out of my way!"

“You know nothing of the world. What a pitty. I highly doubt you will leave here alive.” And suddenly the shadow figure vanished. Leaving Caelean on his own for good. The silence was deafening.
The figure in the dark room shifted closer to the door. The sound of muffled voices. One sounded amused while the other not so much. But now it sounded like one or both left.
Thorne wasn’t sure.
He tapped on the door. Waiting to see if whoever it was was still there or if they had actually left. The tapping took a lot out of him. And he was fairly sure that it hadn’t been loud enough to elicit a response. “Caelean….?” His throat was dry, so very dry. When was the last time he had fed? Thorne couldn’t remember. He had been locked in this dark room for what seemed like days. Only being dragged out, tortured and toss back into the darkness.

Caelean snarled, and the beastly part of his brain--the Gangrel instinct that went back to his father and his grandfather--wanted to launch after that shadow, to sink his claws and his teeth in and tear whoever it was apart.
But that instinct warred with the instinct to find and protect his mate, and either way, all his senses were fully on alert--which was the only reason he noticed the faint tapping.
It wasn't rattling or laughter, not like the others, and that drew his attention instantly, enough to send him moving closer tot he door it seemed to come from.
And there it was.
His name, from the other side of the door.
"Thorne? Thorne, it's me, I'm here." Any thought of chasing down whoever he'd been arguing with vanished. He pawed at the door, grasping for a handle to yank it open, and praying it wasn't locked.

There had been no handle on the inside of the door. There had been no escaping this room for him. Not that he would want to venture anywhere outside this room in the first place. When they had dragged him from it Thorne had been able to see what went on here.
Horrible things. Things worse than he could ever imagine. They made his stomach sick and half the time he would have wretched it there was anything in his stomach to begin with. What kind of place this was he had no idea, but those he contended with seemed to know him well enough.
Well, they knew who his father was anyway.
And his grandfather.
However on the outside, Caelean’s side, there was a handle and a simple sliding bar lock that all he needed to do was slide open and he would be able to enter the room.
Thorne would be in a sorry state once he saw him however. What might have been an hour for Carlean had been at least a week for the red head. He looked malnourished, hair caked with dirt and blood. Most of the physical scars were gone thanks to good ol dad’s blood and healing. That right now was probably his only saving grace. Black eyes were hollow as he stared at the door. His mind cloudy and he could not figure out what to do. “Caelean you need to leave.”

The door came open easily enough. In the back of his mind, something in Caelean suspected that there might be a trap, here--but he wasn't going to waste time thinking about it.
The sight of Thorne, battered and bloodied, made his heart lurch. He knelt, gently reaching out.
"Yeah, I need to leave. With you." There wasn't a moment of hesitation, or an ounce of doubt. He was leaving with Thorne, and that was that. "Do you think your father can come get us? Because I don't think I can find a way back out." This place was too confusing, too many twists and turn,s and there was...whoever had been mocking him, with the red eyes.

As the door opened light, or what you could call light here streamed into the room which caused him to shuffle backwards against the far wall. Whether from the light or a reactionary defense mechanism Thorne could not say. His body ached and so this his mind. One eye was swollen shut so he could only see a blurry, backlit figure through one blood shot eye. The vampire had gone through something recent.
Caelean probably missed the perpetrator by minutes.
“No….” He put a hand up as the word rattled in his chest. As if he had screamed it many times before. His throat raw and parched his voice merely came in a whisper.
They had used this trick on him before. They had known so much and anytime he asked them why there came no answer. Well; no. Not true. The answers were more brutality. He told them that just because he was related didn’t mean anything to him. Not really. They had never really cared too much. Not even his mother.
“It’s a trick. Leave me alone!” There was no way Caelean would have come. Let alone would the mutt have been able to make it this far

Getting a good look at Thorne made anger rise in Caelean's chest again. Whoever had been mocking him outside the cell--it seemed to him that was the most likely suspect for who had left Thorne in such a state. He flexed his fingers, but took a long breath, and forced himself to soften up.
"It's not a trick, Thorne, it's really me," he said, and he extended a hand towards him--an offer, because Caelean doubted his torturers were patient. "Please. We need to get out of here, like you said. But I'm not leaving without you."

Black eyes stared at the hand, we’ll one for the moment. Wild eyed like a caged animal that had been poked one too many times with sharp sticks. He had been out through a lot physically and mentally. And while he could see Caelean and smell him memories would come flooding back and his brain told him to run in the opposite direction. Climb the wall if you had to.
And that hand just hanging there. Open.
Maybe this time….
Thorne reached for it. Tentative and wary. Bone tired. When his fingers wrapped around Caelean’s he was startled. As if he had just woken up someone a bad nightmare. Slowly he pulled Caelean closer to him. Inch by inch the the arm until Thorne was on his feet with his arms wrapped around the other’s neck. “It is you.”

It was something of a relief, when Thorne took his hand. Caelean relaxed, though not completely--getting Thorne to recognize that he was real was just step one. Still, Caelean wrapped his arms around him, turning to nuzzle at his hair.
"Yeah. It's me. I'm here, I'm real." He wanted to take a long moment to hold Thorne close; whatever had happened to him, he'd clearly been here much longer than Caelean had. Magic that could distort time and space, like what he'd seen--they were definitely playing with some big boys.
"Do you know where we are? Who's running this place?"
