heartCharmaine heart Song of the Newborn by Queentintin This sweet Model represents A Happy New Year's Wish ~ Song of the Newborn, means for me, Joy and Peace, and a New Beginning, life time, new memories, and souvenirs to be made as well emotion_bigheart
✧ My inspiration comes from 'Gong Xi Fa Cai' ( 恭喜发财 ) which translates into 'Congratulations on your wealth!' It is a common exclamation during the Chinese New Year, and i wanted to stray from the typical American version of New Years since the Lunar celebration doesn't seem to get as much love worldwide.
✧ Traditionally, red and gold during the Lunar New Year are symbols of wealth and luck and are worn to usher in both into your life for the new year- I tried to balance the red / gold ratio with a bit of dark brown/black to keep everything visible amid the similar shades.
✧ The antlers are symbolic of the Eastern Lóng Dragon- The long serpent like beasts with antlers rather than traditional dragon horns. The tail also falls in line with the dragon aesthetic- I was thinking of adding wings but the Lóng dragon possesses none so I chose to leave them out.
Description: I chose a sparkling golden New Year's party theme that's elegant but fun, an outfit that's both gorgeous and comfortable enough to dance in, set in a brightly lit ballroom and complete with a glass of celebratory champagne and a few glittering accessories. Not only is gold a classic New Year's color, but it also matched Esther's original golden lipstick perfectly.
Challenge Create a look inspired by New Years! Feel free to draw inspiration from colour schemes, styles, patterns, or items that reflect the beginning of a new year. You can even develop your look around a motif (ex. current events, resolutions, etc), though be sure not to delve too deep into the abstract.
Description My immediate thought for this was a New Year's party. I was torn between doing a more casual look or an elegant high-end party look, and ultimately opted for the latter because I love building fancy looks, and Sumati's facial features lean more towards elegance. I included the clock in the background to represent the countdown to the New Year and the table with the drink, of course, for those who enjoy drinking, and then added confetti and the pompom garland to make it look more like a party.
While working on her outfit, I dropped a couple of ideas because I felt they were too close to my audition entry and I wanted to stay away from that as much as possible. So instead of going with my initial instinct of Choice Poison for the armmod, I select something more poised to avoid the similar positioning, especially the hand covering the mouth. And my original choice of a skirt was a sitting pose like my audition entry, so instead I made her standing.
Once I found a dress I wanted, I set out working on making it more unique, so it wasn't just a single item. Her outfit was originally monochrome but I wanted color since I didn't get to do that last time, so I ended up with this red gradient dress, which I thought contrasted well with her eyes and looked flattering with her skin tone. I then added a train, bodice, and belt to the dress, and then a necklace to tie the burgundy into the neckline. I added the earrings to represent the New Year's ball drop. The hat was the finishing touch to really make the look read New Year's.

New Reading Spark
✦ Designer: Mini Black Velvet ✦ Model: Laurel ✦
✧ Description ✧
New Years sparks another beginning of new challenges. It is time for a new book reading challenge this year for book lovers everywhere to read all of the books that they can get their hands on.
Originally I was just going to design a fireworks theme outfit with a swig of champagne, as that is generally what comes to mind for me when I think of New Years. Lights and Party drinks~ Such a shame party balloons would've blocked the firework night sky view that I wanted to keep, so didn't use them & threw the balloons out of the window.
Anyhow it wasn't until midway of trying to make a sophisticated look, that I was reminded of the annual reading challenge on goodreads. And with these pretty round glasses and surrounded by books, Laurel has turned into a classy bookworm ready for the New Year.
Laurel is dressed in a black gown that covers most of her, as I imagine it'd be cold to stay up and wait for the New Years firework night show at her window. But to keep herself awake, she has some drinks to keep her hydrated and a book in hand to read, so she keeps herself preoccupied and not fall asleep.

✦ Designer: Detrimentum ✦ Model: Helena ✦ Outift Title: Good Fortune ✦ Description: For my entry, I created a design celebrating the upcoming Chinese New Year. The Year of the Dragon is 2024, and dragons in the Chinese zodiac signify health, power, and luck - hence the name, "Good Fortune" for this outfit.
The attire is designed to seem celebratory, with a blend of traditional and modern flare; it is graceful and beautiful while paying attention to Chinese cultural history. Because the apparel is predominantly red with black highlights, golden jewellery, such as intricate hairpieces and a fashionable headpiece, was the ideal choice to provide a hint of grandeur. The model is surrounded by lanterns and holds one; the lanterns represent both hope and the banishment of darkness, and they are also a homage to the Lantern Festival.
Helena is now set to celebrate the New Year in vivid style, representing the rich cultural traditions and fortunate symbols that make the Chinese New Year so unforgettable!
Designer: ShiroOkazaki Model: Aubrie Description: Aubrie is ready to meet Mr. Right, and she is dressed to impress for this New Year's Party. A flirty fan is the perfect accessory to her come hither stare. New Year's Eve is the perfect time to go all out!
Aubrie brings lots of drama and glitter with her rose gold accents and sweeping skirt, hoping to grab all of the attention when she enters the room. The hint of blue stands out, helping to bring the focus in around her face.
I mainly chose the "Reserved" color scheme for some traditional drama, but added hits of the "Purified" scheme to add a little playfulness to the look. Both schemes are tied together with the rose gold, which I think compliments Aubrie's skin tone. This girl is ready to have a ball before it drops!

Model: Ava Outfit Title: Night of the Dancing Dragon Equipped List:
Description: I know these aren't necessary but I decided to write one anyway! I decided immediately that my design was going to be based off of the Chinese New Year. I wanted to capture the frantic, excited energy of a performer in a New Years festival. The flowing skirt, the flashing fan, all were chosen to give movement to Ava to the point where you can vividly imagine the dance she would be doing. I even added some gold horns so the outfit's connection to the current animal year (the dragon) would be clearer, as well as using eyeshadow to give Ava a "narrower" look. The flowers are there to break up all the red and gold used in the piece, though now that I think of it I may have gone a bit overboard!

Title:"Year of the Dragon"
Designer: clowniing Model: Rhiannon
Description: I decided on the theme I wanted to go with very quickly, and made the mistake of not looking at the other entries first... So now I'm a bit embarrassed that others already submitted dragon-themed outfits :'D But I put effort into this one and had lots of fun with it, so I'm submitting it anyway!!
I know it's not the Chinese New Year just yet, but I really wanted to theme my outfit around the Lunar New Year animal of 2024, which happens to be the dragon! In traditional Chinese culture, dragons tend to symbolize power, success, and wealth, but personally I also view dragons as light, airy and free.
As the Chinese Lunar New Year is dependent on the moon's phases, I included them in the background, and the clouds are a motif that's often associated with both traditional Chinese art and dragons.
I also used colors commonly associated with Chinese dragons - red and gold. Normally the red would be brighter and the gold more saturated, but with Rhiannon's gentle vibe and my own feelings about dragons, I felt like colors that are too bright and saturated wouldn't fit here, so I used a darker wine red and a very light gold that (hopefully) doesn't make the accessories look opulent.
I gave Rhiannon quite a few different head accessories to symbolize the power, success and wealth of a dragon. Dragons are also known to hoard treasures and gold, so that was another fun thing I was able to incorporate with the head accessories! But I tried to make sure that these accessories don't seem overpowering, heavy or oppressive, as I really wanted her to still have that airy and free feeling that I love about dragons.
Designer: bloodangel95 Model: bryce Outfit Title: To new beginnings, Cheers!
Description: Initially I also wanted to do a Chinese new year avi, but held off on that idea. Then when you think about new years you think of party's and fireworks. I am not a fan of big crowd or fireworks. I do however like to look at fireworks from a distance. I also recently started watching Kitchen Nightmares. My favorite part was the restaurant makeovers. That's when this idea for bryce started to form.
Welcoming a new year is an excuse to go out and enjoy the night with family and friends. Here Bryce is in a fine dining open air restaurant to welcome the new year. I wanted a open air restaurant look so she can admire the fireworks from a safe distance. Her outfit is thick full black skirt with gold trim, paired with a gold bodice, black shawl, and a gold hair bow. It's a simple elegant look that can keep you warm eating outside, but just in case warm coffee it just the thing to keep your body warm and awake. I added confetti to the look just so it can give of more celebrating vibe as oppose to a normal everyday date night look. Let's just say everyone is celebrating the new year and tossing confetti where this restaurant is at.
While creating this look I struggling finding the right arms and coverage for the cold. I initially gave her a fur shawl and gloved hands. One of the first gloved hands I tried on her gave her a more sophisticated sassy look but I didn't want her to be too sassy with the date night vibe. Also for me date night could be with a boyfriend, husband, friend, or family so in all those situations sassy won't be ideal. The other hands I tried out next gave her a cute look like she was super excited for the new year. This was my personal favorite look for her however the hands covered the necklace and bodice which was a shame to hide. After my third try I settled with this. She looks elegant, warm, and excited.
designer. Princess Warfare model. Summer title.Mother of Dragons
description. This is an homage to LongMu, aka the Mother of Dragons in Chinese mythology.
With it being the year of the dragon, I felt obligated to include horns. I intended to make them look as if they were a part of her ornate headdress, which I think I pulled off well.
I HAD to choose gold & red in honor of the Lunar New Year as well, and the gold ingots are to represent the wealth that I am manifesting for myself this year.
I chose to be a little extra in the details, because those born in the year of the dragon are unparalleled in talent and beauty. This design choice is reflected in Summer's makeup; overlined lips, blush, mascara. She's a confident woman who goes after her goals. She gets what she wants. She is accomplishing every new year's resolution.

sparkling party
‣designer: cynicalsix ‣model: maria ‣description: inspired by the glorious version of new years often portrayed in party hats and streamers, this outfit is designed to be a picturesque version of the new years, ravishing in sleek gold and black to idealize and manifest a new year of fortune and success
Description: Ahh the new year! Love it or hate it, you can't deny that this part of the year is filled with a transformative spirit that pushes us to try new things and achieve new goals!
Talia might have had a quiet New Years Eve, but she is ready to start the year off right with a classic resolution- getting super swole fit and healthy!
She is pictured here in some casual and comfy athletic wear on her way home from a successful gym work out. Since I dressed her up in a lot of heavy red and black during the audition, I wanted to play around with a pastel look as I knew it would compliment her pale complexion in a cute way. Talia is also accessorized with some gym essentials: a pair of earbuds, a water bottle, and a little trendy duffle bag. Her look is finished off with a hint of blue added to her usual smokey eye to lighten it a little and have it mesh better with her look. As for the background I tried to choose something that would go with her brown-orange heavy features and settled on a beautiful sky with a rising sun as the sunrise classically represents new beginnings.
Personally I chose to do a look based on this resolution because while I tend to never make any resolutions myself I decided to break that trend this year!

"The clock strikes midnight"
Lulu
Designer - ICLite
Desc Right away I knew that I wanted to use the trend of 'new years kisses' as my influence, especially after spending my own new years with my partner.
Originally I had a completely different outfit planned, Something much more modern. But this Cinderella moment came at me like a freight train and I simply could not resist. I wanted Lulu to have a gown with lots of weight to it, something simple in colour scheme as to not clash against the busy background. I was unsure if companion items were allowed, so I opted for a look without one, however I certainly imagined Lulu's kiss mark coming from a partner of some kind. Tried really hard to get those over the top fireworks to fit in as all the others I found just weren't vibrant enough for me. Ultimately I leaned heavily into the blues, giving my model a softer look contrasting to the brightness behind her.
As the one path ends, another begins. New Year is the time of rebirth as the goddess of the world delicately carries the earth over from the past and into the future. Her each footstep is the moment in present, it is life, it is experiencing life....never stopping, always forward. In her gentle, warm and loving embrace, we welcome and celebrate the new year
I used a lot of red, dark orange and gold as symbol of new year. A little bit of green to represent freshness and life. For background I used a recolor of ursine major arcana because instead of using more realistic space as this feels more mystical, like how we imagined sun and planets moving through constellations in a sky that people of past imagined. I debated a bit on gates as it hides some nice stuff, but it makes for a good representation of walking into a new phase
I struggled a lot at beginning, I had to scrap a few good ideas because I couldnt find good enough of items to do them justice. Gaia breaking down didnt help, avi builder was still a bit problematic for me, but at least it was mostly functional and so I decided to make it quick before it fails again
