mini update- loving the entries that are there so far. I also love how different they are, it's gonna be super hard to choose winners.

Zenith in a Car Door

just curious, how did you come up with your username? very unique and cool

(and you chose my fav boi, not that it will give you an advantage over the others or disadvantage of course, but I made a plaid avatar for Billy too that I won't be wearing until the challenge is over rofl suffice to say though that it's extremely different.)

I love your description btw.

you're welcome, and yeah it does sound like some kind of rap reference; Daffy Duck sounds a bit more out there but the right amount of silly. which Daffy Duck video though? I'd watch it.

Edit- wrong nose, but the Rose Commander noses are also all identical LOL

Also, if you used a different His Reign nose, you didn't really have to change it, they ARE all the same rofl I know because I own most of them

I think this is the original video.

And this is the one that ingrained itself into my memory.

I'unno if they offend anyone, my bad if it did or will. sweatdrop

I love your description so much, and the expression on Stephen's face is fantastic! You basically described an entire plot in one sentence, I can easily imagine someone writing an entire novel about Stephen's adventures (and misadventures.) The casual outfit you chose for him also fits the theme you used well, and the background is perfect.

The elements I wasn't as big on are that this dog item looks a bit cartoony, and while it might work with this background by itself, it has a whole different energy than the desperate hitch hiker- a more realistic dog item might work better. Some of the outfits seems a little simple, and maybe the right hat could've completed the outfit. Also, these particular shorts/legs give the model a bit of a childish look which might've been what you were going for, but I would be seriously concerned if a 14-year-old was on the run trying to fend for himself as opposed to a young adult, so I think items that suggested he was a bit older might work better with this theme (they can be hard to find on Gaia- I found a bare leg item guide in Gaia Guides and Resources in the forum.)

Wasn't sure if you wanted responses in the contest thread, so I'm posting this here.

Thank you so much for the prize and the contest! But also thank you for the comments. This really helps me see my stuff from another perspective and is super helpful.

I'm genuinely really happy that you liked my description so much. 3nodding Cannot guarantee the rest will be as nice lol.

I did kind of intend to have the dichotomy between the dog and Stephen, but perhaps a more realistic puppy would have achieved the same purpose.

I definitely agree about the hat. I regret now not adding a baseball cap. I think that would have looked nice and really fit the style.

The thing about the legs never occurred to me. I did struggle real hard finding legs for him. Oof. But I will look up that guide. Thanks for the suggestion! 3nodding

A massive thank you for making this possible, I look forward to entering again! blaugh

Quick shout outs

The_Slytherin_Goddess for the guild invite. I was surprised and flattered to see that in early December, it piqued my interest but also scared me to consider entering into anything. I am glad I did. 4laugh

Neapolitangirl for their walkthrough on how to share with the avi builder. I believe it's in the faq but your post was where I learned. emotion_brofist

Ultrabord for hosting this contest! There were more than a few new experiences for me as I took part and it's been a lot of fun and stress free. Thanks to you I am a lot more comfortable entering into future contests! emotion_kirakira

The best for last: The other competitors! The outfits, the backgrounds, the stories: Loved it all! There was diversity between our submissions that really did make it hard to choose a favorite for me, and I can learn from these differences. I really hope to see you and your avis again soon! emotion_c8

I would definitely recommend this guild to users interested in making or viewing aesthetically pleasing and gorgeous avis. 3nodding

absolutely, and that's also part of the reason why I specifically stated that if people enter different rounds they can use different models; for me, I love to change up the base model of my designs regularly. and yeah, I'm happy to see a guild like this even though it doesn't have a ton of active users currently (makes it easier to get into Project Catwalk itself, but the low entry count of the first challenge is the downside, next challenge has a longer entry period though.)

and you're welcome for the mini contest, it's been super fun making it even if there are only a few people entering lol. This would've been my entry if it wasn't my contest and one of us would've had to switch models razz I think this look would've worked with another character too though.

yeah this is the right topic to post stuff in (not gonna block people for posting once outside submissions in the other one though), thank you. and the topic someone recommended to me that I used to help find good legmods for the base models for the challenge is here
https://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/gaia-guides-and-resources/bare-leg-taur-and-full-body-mods-guide/t.113011044/

And it's okay if not all your descriptions read like a movie synopsis, sometimes inspiration strikes and other times you just gotta squeeze the ideas out like wringing a washcloth rofl sounds like you read a lot over the years like I did though which is a good thing. (tbh I wish I did more intellectual stuff now, ironically I play more dress up games than I did as a kid rofl sometimes developing those characters' backstories does have an in-depth thought process though and I still get to feel smart.)

quoting you here instead of in the contest topic; and yes, of course reserving a post is fine, of course the models do go on a first come first serve basis and whoever posts their entry first still has an advantage over someone with an earlier post who edited it later, etc. (I'm sure you know how that works.)

Haji Demon
quoting you here as well, in the future a regular reply/thanks post would go better in this topic, although it's all right if you post a side comment in addition to a submission post to save time/space. And yeah, I loved your entry, I also feel like maybe I liked it enough that I probably could've nitpicked one or two other minor details (like the legmod/top looking a little disjointed, but the styles made sense together, and the green hat not quite going with the taupe in the hair and maybe a darker green looking better, blah blah.)

That's it though, and I look forward to seeing everyone's future entries, but as mentioned as long as you have time and are inspired by the challenge

Yes, I love reading! And I feel you on that lol, especially Gaia, which has replaced most of the dress-up games I used to us to design characters.

Working on backstories has always been one of my least favorite things to do lol but yeah it's a great feeling when you complete a thorough backstory.

Sure I'll try to do that, I'll quote everyone who entered or posted their interest before, since the judges have been really busy and there wasn't a guild announcement for this one. I did make the challenge time longer as well.
iiiFlames
I'm not sure as I only had the ones for body and legmods, there are a few great Right to Bare male armmods that I know about (I honestly just searched "bare armmod" and similar for the male models), but if I or you or anyone else find a good one in Gaia Guides and Resources feel free to share (I'll post the legmod/cropper topic link in the original post.) I just noticed it's easier to find items with more multi-tone armmods for both male and female than legs and then someone told me about that one.
Zenith in a Car Door
I see you noticed "Jedi" Billy (made him for the Evil Sith Temple guild minigames LOL)

in case you wanted the quote to tell you that the second challenge is up too
