Kiss me good-bye, love's memory Follow your heart and find your destiny Won't shed a tear, for love's mortality For you put the dream in my reality
Holy s**t, it worked. Kalen couldn't help but release a loud and nigh hysterical laughter as the horde of Caterchilpillar chased after the large chocobo. The beating of the bird's feet gave a comforting rhythm for the youth to connect to, pacing every inhale and exhale that he gave to the constant thumping the bird provided. It wasn't even for Beaker either, who had to dodge rubble, destroyed cars, and falling debris from the tall buildings that filled the city. A fast turn of his head continued to affirm that the beasts continued to pursue him, Kalen pulling out his revolver and blasting two rounds out into the mouth's of the beasts behind him. Something, something, eat lead. Would have been the probable s**t talking line that he would have came up with if there wasn't absolute chaos driving his nerves and anxiety up a wall. There was no way he would be use to this, Beaker's running and the litany of destruction that filled the city was an absolute dystopian nightmare to any casual civilian. Kalen's expertise had been with some monsters one on one, generally two or three he had come to handle well out in the wild.
This was war.
Holstering his revolver once more, he leaned forward, patting the bird's neck to comfort it. The bird had originally come from a small chocobo farm that Kalen had helped with a grat problem, one or two always coming after the birds later at night. The work he had performed earned him the reward of a small chocobo chick that would be his once it had turned a proper age. This was about three years ago then, actually happening just as Kalen had decided to not pursue the SeeD training of Winhill and disembark on his own vision quest adventure across the known planet. A few months in, and that bird and he were basically inseparable. Racing pedigree and top tier training gave Beaker an advantage over many casual chocobos, considering the small farm was generally a feeder for the circuits across the world. The Winhill based ranch had guaranteed him a travel companion more trustworthy than any human companion you'd have around. And it was true. Beaker even was trained in the art of Choco-Fu, the Chocobo's method of pecking and kicking in a near martial art esque manner. Perhaps armor would have been proper for the blonde bird but there had never been any need for it.
Well, now there seemed to be.
Luckily the bird was keeping a steady pace, not even reaching its maximum speed and if anything kept a fast jog for a Chocobo, warking and squealing in its constant act of maneuvering the rocky terrain. What are we going to do... He thought, eyes peeled for someone, anyone to come to assist. Just as he turned his head back from keeping tabs on his chasers, someone landed on the bird which caused a loud 'SQWUARK!" from Beaker in surprise, leaping over a car in surprise. Kalen grasped his neck in equal surprise, leaning forward and gasping as they landed. "What the he-" A Trabian SeeD? The man's face was unknown to him but Kalen knew about as many Trabian SeeD as he did Trabian family members. Not that many. Only the armor of the man hinted him towards his origins. "GOD! You just scared the s**t out of me!" He exclaimed loudly, looking back again as Draak shot his lance towards a Caterchilpillar and striking it down. Kalen pulled Beaker to the right as debris crashed around them, the Trabian man asking what had just ran through Kalen's own brain. "Party wave?! Plan?! The plan was to find someone, anyone, anything to kill these things befo-"
His frantic tone, face showing an obvious lack of planning or experience in this scenario faded to a wide eyed look of horror. A giant shadow loomed over them as a gigantic beast plummeted to the earth, crashing into the horde behind them and sending a shockwave outwards all around the point of impact. Many of the beasts were slain, but the shockwave only allowed for Kalen to yell "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" as he, Draak, and Beaker were thrown forward at the force from the impact. Beaker was sent toppling, squealing and squawking into the opening of the street, rolling as it tried to minimalize the impact and crying out in pain. Draak would have been thrown wherever, Kalen losing sight as he was thrown into what seemed like Orbit. The scream left his mouth and it was voiceless eventually, the world spinning and going dark as he slammed into a car that was smashed into a building. The impact created a loud THUD and dented the side of the car, glass exploding from the windows as it cracked, "GAH." The only sound Kalen made as the air was forced out of his lungs and he toppled to the ground, filled with a vicious pain in his chest that limited his breathing.
AGH....AGH....AGH...." The only sound that could emerge from him, his vision dizzy as the dust from Kaijuu's impact began to settle and Kalen could see the monolith creature roaring and destroying everything around it. Beaker was visible, limping towards Kalen slowly, Kaijuu assaulting more creatures and buildings behind with no care in the world. Why was it here? How did... The realization swarmed over him that the summon had just been called by...her. She was close. A small feeling of terror stabbed at his heart, trying to come to a stand before falling down again and making the same wheezing noise. Pain in his side made moving unbearable, and breathing even harder. A broken rib was more than likely if not all of them, Kalen only hoping that no beasts tried to take advantage of him and Beaker now that he was out. All that effort, and this is how it ends. Just like his father, it seemed luck was not on his side. He could only hope that the Trabian made it out of this okay.

The fight waged on, and Xaris had continued to provide cover for Koyuki, but never in her life did she expect to be suddenly shouted at by the operator. "XARIS, GET OUT OF THERE NOW! THAT IS AN ORDER!" She nearly jerked her head from the shouting in her ear, but that was enough to give her warning that something bad was going to happen. Diablos even now backing off as he took off from fighting and picked Xaris up, moving out of the east district entirely. With that spine chilling order, Xaris did nothing but look back towards Koyuki's direction while she relayed an order to all ground units in the vicinity. "This is BIE Agent Xaris Zeigmus sending this live communicated broadcast to all who can hear me. East District has fallen. It is a death zone. Do not approach. Avoid at all costs."
The relay was sent to all, and the message was clear.
But how true was that message?
Well, the operator seemed to know.
"TRIPLE! THUNDAGA!" Lightning scattered across the city block, iron giants getting blasted left and right by Koyuki as she unleashed hell upon them. Despite being alone, she was far more dangerous than she had ever been before. The way she ruthlessly slammed Iron giants into walls and buildings, recklessly destroying property and using it to her advantage just to kill more of them. She was relishing in this! Feeling more alive than she had been in years! But, then the next wave came, adapting to her reckless nature by ambushing her as she came rushing into a group of three, immediately getting smashed into by a surprise swing by an iron giant from around the corner of a building, sending her flying and rocketing up into a building and out the other side. One might have thought she would have died from such an impact, but the armor proved its worth by protecting her, and her frenzied nature did little to care for such damage.
Lightning burst from the rubble that was on top of her, scattering it as she came sprinting from around the corner, her body bleeding in different places, blood dripping heavily. "Curaga!" She was back at full! Going at it again with the iron giants, paying them back in full as she came flying at one of them like the devil claming a soul, shattering through one iron giant with a pull of the trigger of the gunblade, followed by another, and another, emptying the revolver chamber.
She turned and threw her lance at another horde, followed by Ixion leaping forward in front of her, spearing its horn into two Iron giants and smashing them through a building. At this point, she had forgone any sensibility and reason. Lost in the battle lust until finally it all caught up to her. So many iron giants were around, and with a last ditch effort from Ixion firing thor's hammer out onto a large group of them, it had nothing left, and Koyuki was at the brink of death as swing, after swing, Iron giants pummeled her. Each blade cracking her armor, each strike inching her closer and closer to death, until finally one struck her in the head, causing her vision to blackout.
"Riyel.... I am sorry.... I could not do anything right without you. I am lost..."
"You don't deserve forgiveness for anything. You think what's waiting for you on the other side is that happy life? That paradise? Hahahahaha! Give me a break. We both know you deserve to rot in hell."
"...."
"? ... Got nothing to say? Oh, that's right. You know it's true. Of course you do. Hahahahahaha! Dying in such a pathetic manner doesn't suit you. No. You have unfinished business here. We have unfinished business."
"Let this be done with! I'm tired."
"Hahahaha! You think you get to just die?! No! This is not how we go down!"
"There is no "we"!"
"Oh but that's where you are wrong! There's always been a we! I am what you bury in your soul. I am what you bottle up. I am what you fear. I am everything you try to contain. I am everything you embody. I am your truth. And the truth is... Koyuki..."
Every waking painful memory came flooding all at once inside of Koyuki's mind, and the most devastating truth that came to her mind. All this time she had thought she had never been in the realm with Ultimecia, but then, Riyel came, diving in front of Koyuki as he was blasted with Hell's judgement, dropping him down to a fraction of his life, and before anyone could save him, a blizzard spike came piercing through him, dropping to the ground. Titan's edge dropped, and soon afterwards Riyel's body was absorbed into time and space by Ultmecia.
"......"
The Iron giants had continued to pummel and smack down on Koyuki's corpse of a body, her armor having shattered, and her body broken from the swings, and yet, her body remained intact. For some reason, despite no matter how many times they tried to turn her body into paste, it remained.
"Ǧ̸͈͑͜Ȑ̶̡̗͑R̸͇̓R̵͎̬̅R̴̺͚̈́̕A̴͇̓Ä̷̪̘́A̶̖̒À̸̟A̴͍̬͒͝Ḁ̷̡͋A̷͖̼͐A̴͉̐̒Ą̷̽̕Ā̷͔Ă̸̪͠Ă̴̜̾Ả̸͉A̵̡̺̽̕A̶͖̹͛̽A̸̜͝A̸͈̓̀A̷̻͘ͅA̵̘͕͗̈́G̷̜̓͝Ģ̶̼̉̽G̵͇̖̃G̸̨̟̀͌G̴̨̃G̴͚̲͘G̵͕̈́͜G̶̟̔͠Ǵ̴͜G̶̯̎͐G̷̲̹̎̀G̵̛̣̻̈́Ģ̸̀͝H̵̟̎Ḣ̸̯͋H̶̩̊̄Ḧ̴̺́͐Ḣ̴̳̙͒H̷͙̮́͠H̶̨͕̉̋H̷̩͑͆H̴̩͕͋H̴̘͝Ḧ̴͎́" An inhuman roar screamed out from Koyuki as lightning surged into her corpse. Iron giants all around were completely taken back and caught off guard as Koyuki's body began to hover into the air, her arms stretching out as her torn flesh began to warp, twist, bend, and reform into black harden metal. Her very flesh itself became her armor, and her shoulder grew out a massive monstrous eye. Lightning scattered and shot through buildings just from her presence alone, and the iron giants for once, stumbled back from her, afraid. Her hands extended out to her weapons, chains of lightning zapping around both her lance and gunblade, pulling them into her hands and turning towards the remaining iron giants. She took one aim with the gunblade, and muttered a single demonic word. "T̵h̴u̸n̶d̶a̶j̷a̴". Her arm began to violently contort and mold with the gunblade, sending forth the spell through the barrel of the gun, pulling the trigger as she fired off a raw blast that encompassed the entire street that lead straight down towards the ocean, disintegrating every iron giant that came in that path, effectively wiping out the majority of them in a single shot. To everyone else in the distance. They just saw the entirety of east side district light up with the brightest lightning blast possible, making it impossible to miss.
____________________________________________________ There was a slow moment of recognition as the chocobo toppled over in the Shockwave. Total Wipeout man. While Kalen ate industrial vehicle, Azdaja spun in the air. If the man wasn't on a half tank he probably had the proper reactions to activate his jump jets or grappling line to save him from the fall. But no, as tuckered out as he was, he failed to recalibrate himself mid-toss.
So he tucked and rolled. The crash against the ground wasn't so bad, all things told. He'd fallen from further and faster often enough He'd call this barely a inconvenience. Recovering quickly, the end of his roll had him back on his feet.
"Kweh, kwehhhh. Quark." He asked the chocobo if it was okay, before the blue-green familiarity of a cure spell hit it. "Cure." The next spell hit Kalen. Draak could rough it a bit longer as he then stared up at the kaiju, Kaijuu.
"Okay, the... headmaster is back... Awesome, ain't no one better tonhave in a scrap than her, my dude. Looks like things are looking peachy." ____________________________________________________

Inhale…
Rem closed her eyes.
Exhale.
She waited. She trusted Nyale, she realized.
Inhale…
The symphony of buzzing wings grew louder and louder. The cloud of insects passed through the streets like locusts.
Exhale…
Yukiko had opened up into them already. The gun thundered in Rem’s ears, mowing down monsters.
Inhale…
Flash!
Don’t be afraid.
Rem’s eyes snapped open! She stepped forward once, twice- in a single motion, she cleaved the wing off a swooping, flailing bite bug! The thing crashed to the ground behind her, and she had to backtrack and stomp on it! It snapped at her boot right until its chitin staved in with a spray of greenish blood. Uck…!
Another bite bug crashing into her back jolted Rem out of her disgust! The blind thing flailed and snapped, but its chitinous claws tore at her arms! Its disturbing maw struggled to tear at her flesh, pushed away by a subtle field of force, at least! Rem shoved herself backward into the passenger side door of a nearby car, jolting the vile thing off her! Tearing herself away, she twisted and raked her blade across the whole side of the car, scoring sparks and slicing the snapping beast’s body in two!
And then…then, there were too many to miss! The vermin that made it past Nyale and Yukiko’s onslaught only had Rem to focus on. The Princess took one measured step after another, cleaving through bite bugs careening toward her with open maws! Huge, blue insects fell to the ground with wings and limbs still twitching.
And then came the geezards! The hideous, snapping things crawled under cars and over the corpses of bite bugs. Rem had to backtrack as they closed in, keeping the larger creatures from swarming her. She slashed at their pincers, severing a couple limbs, but she kept losing ground! Back…back…
Rem led the swarm toward the truck she and the others had come in. Passing by it, she snatched at the gas cap! Geezards crawled over and beneath it; a snapping claw tore a bloody rent in her arm even as she retreated! Rem scrambled backward as more of the fiends closed in on her! Geezards and bite bugs had made it past the killing ground, and now had their eyes on her.
She waited as long as she dared before she reached up a hand. Violet energy streamed out of her, coalescing above her hand into a whorling vortex of color. She pointed it forward.
”Fire.”
A molten missile streaked through the air, trailing embers after it! It missed the geezards. It even missed the bugs. It flew straight past them and struck dead-on at the truck’s gas cap.
BOOM
Rem’s protective spells flickered into view as embers and bits of monster viscera pelted her.
And still they came. Bite bugs buzzed through the billowing cloud of black smoke emerging from the wrecked truck. Geezards crawled over their own cousins’ corpses, hungry to devour a royal child! Rem worked to steady her breathing and return to her ready stance.
Inhale…
An inhuman shriek pierced the air! The monsters stopped. For just a moment, the world was still.
…
THOOMMM
Rem toppled to the ground as a huge, black shape erupted from a brick wall! Flying brick and stone crushed geezards! Rem was only saved by having fallen next to a car, which shielded her from the worst of the debris flying overhead! Windows shattered, sides crumpled, but that was better than her bones.
The thing came to a stop in the middle of the street. Rem Nipal stared up at a dragon!
And it stared back down at her.
Rem sprinted the only direction she could go: down the street of their chokepoint! She raced for a nearby building, a restaurant with brick pillars out front that might provide her some cover! If she could get out of its line of-
The world turned red.
Rem’s boots left the ground. She felt the lurch in her body as she was picked up and hurled through the air! Flames licked her back, and she sailed through the air to bounce off the front wall of the restaurant. She rolled to a painful stop amid falling embers and shards of brick. Rem hissed and gasped as she dragged herself up. She was covered in cuts and scrapes and her SeeD uniform was blackened in a dozen places. She had to slap out a fire on her shoulder. Only her spells had kept her from dying then and there!
The Princess gasped for air and crawled against the nearest pillar! The monster loomed in the middle of the street, in-between all three girls. Yukiko acted quickly and Scanned, shouting her findings.
What did they do against that?! This thing- it was going to kill her. Kill all of them.
Then die standing.
Rem dragged herself up against the pillar, steadying her breathing again.
Inhale…
Dragon in the center. Yukiko on Rem’s side, in cover. Nyale up above. A plan pieced together in her head.
”NY!” she shouted, while sheathing Lullaby and pulling Lied from the holster on her hip. ”Blind it! Yuki, I need a NulBlaze grenade, then...bring in the air strike!” Yukiko knew what her cousin meant: Valigarmanda. Of course, none of that would work with the Reflect spell on it.
This was gonna suck.
Rem stepped out of cover.
Bang!
A single revolver round tore a scrap of black flesh from the hexadragon’s hammer-head. Rem missed the eye, but still got what she needed: its attention.
”Draw!” she shouted, and streamers of magic tore from the dragon, twisting through the air ‘til they coalesced in her hand as a coruscating vortex of energy! ”Dispel!” She flung the gathered magic toward the beast, where it collided with a previously-unseen shield! The blast illuminated the field by filling it with spiderwebbing cracks, before the whole thing shattered into wisps of ambient magical energy.
”UNITA!” she shouted a war cry as she fired round after round into the horror, doing what Rem Nipal had always done best: demand attention.

Kiss me good-bye, love's memory Follow your heart and find your destiny Won't shed a tear, for love's mortality For you put the dream in my reality
All he could do was pull himself up slowly, his body sore and aching with each drag upward. The poor car behind him had a Kalen sized indentation that he was certain some weird fangirl (or worse fanboy) would pay a great deal for and that errant thought somehow concerned him even more at the moment than their situation. Anything to make me feel better. he decided mentally, looking around at his body to make sure he wasn't bleeding or damaged in any other way. Toes worked. Hands worked. He could see and hear everything in the background, the glutinous excess of violence giving the world a vision of everything his mother did not desire. Kalen could only look onward, fighting the despair that wallowed beneath the surface at seeing such a vision being flipped on its head almost like a biblical flip of the switch. Despite his injuries, despite his ongoing growth of dread, his thoughts wandered towards his family. Only a silent prayer could he send out to them now, Beaker squawking whilst coming to his side, sniffing him in worry and picking at his hair. I hope this doesn't break Ma's dreams. His eyes closed, an absent handle curving around the Chocobo's head as it tried to nurse him with what it could, This was not her fault.
It was nice to be out of the way for the moment though.
The sky was grey, ashen with the fires and eruptions in the distance. Gunfire, magical detonations, and other kinds of sounds were the orchestra of the scene. All the fighters were the dancers. Dancing this ballet they were forced to dance, to cut and weave, to bleed and die, to fight and survive. All were at the mercy of the dance of life, orchestrated by powers greater than he and even the mightiest SeeD. A quick check once more made sure that his revolver and sword were still with him, and luckily this was the case, but at least the beasts that were hounding them at Kalen's behest were being smote by Kaijuu's rampaging form. Footsteps had Kalen and Beaker turn their heads, a measure of relief washing over his soot riddled face. The Trabian was still alive and looked nearly none the worse for wear, though a measure of exhaustion seemed somewhat visible in his eyes. "Glad to see you're okay, stranger." he forced out, a placid grin quickly replaced with discomfort while moving. Beaker cooed, "Kweeeeeh!" as the magic from Draak swarmed over him, hopping up and down at the mending of his leg.
Good. Kalen hated seeing the bird be in any distress, especially as he had called on his trusty companion to join him in this escapade. Though he knew the bird did not mind, only looking towards the Trabian man as more magic flowed onto Kalen, healing him more than enough. The blue/green flow of cure enveloped his form, the ribs shifting into place and proving Kalen with the most uncomfortable yet comfortable feeling he had felt in a long time. Soon, he was good as new and Beaker knew it, using his head to help pull Kalen to his feet; this time there was no pain to accompany the movement. Good...down momentarily, but out of the fight, not at all. His thoughts swept away as he looked over the Trabian, patting him on the soldier in thanks just as his head turned at an eruption in the distance.
The explosion was no ordinary eruption, the plume of gold and sparks cascading in one fell motion, like an atomic bomb. Isolated in the Eastern District, the gold glistened across his eyes, encapturing the terrifying power to memory at what was capable of not just humans, but beasts and sorceress. Terrifying ability. To Kalen, he was an ant among them. Another humbling experience upon his return. "She's back, but is she with us is the better question." he muttered, an irking feeling in the back of his head while turning and watching Kaijuu, "If we were any closer, that blast would have taken us with whatever she was fighting. So I wouldn't use peachy...more lemon-esque. Sour, but we can at least make something out of the lemon juice that didn't get squeezed in our eyes."
Kalen strode over to Beaker, patting his head, "Boy, if you want to go back to the Hotel, you can." Beaker squawked at the thought, clocking him on the head with his beak in indignation at the thought, "Hey, hey, hey, I'm just giving you the option." he chuckled, trying to put the bird at ease. "Ready to give us a ride? If anything, we can drop you off somewhere where you're needed. I'm not going back to the defense line, I just know I can be more help out here if noone will let me fight." His sentence went soft, the bitterness welling in his chest, bile in the back of his throat. He climbed onto Beaker, feet in the saddle as he looked down at Draak, "Sorry...Kalen, Kalen Vicaria. Happy to make your acquaintance." One hand extended out to help the man up if he so wished, and once he made a decision, they were off together once more into the fray.

The wave of monsters was relentless and exhausting, with as many more appearing each moment as Ny could shoot down. The corpses and body parts littered the street, forming bigger and increasingly disgustingly gooey piles. Until for a brief moment there was actually a pause in the onslaught. And yet Ny frowned, perturbed, noting the fearful reactions of the creatures as they appeared to become spooked. "Something worse is coming..." The girl muttered to herself.
Then came the shriek of something that was undeniably large and, in all probability, awful. Ny winced, feeling the sound cutting right through her like nails on a chalk board. "What now?!" She cringed. The 'what' was soon revealed: a huge, horrifying black dragon with demonic red eyes like something from a nightmare. It came crashing through a building...and evidently didn't care at all about the other monsters it crushed in its path. Ny almost felt sorry for them.
There was no time to warn Rem or Yuki from above, though it wasn't like they could miss it. "Oh shi-"
Powerful red beams barrelled towards them. Nyale dodged to the side on instinct, desperately throwing herself towards cover behind a crumbling brick chimney. Yet the heat and force of the fiery explosions from the beams still knocked her clean over, burns painfully stinging up the whole right side of her body, making her gasp, and singeing holes in her clothes. As her body flared with pain she was thankful for the protective magic that had limited the damage somewhat. Ny lay on her back, heart pounding, breathing ragged, with the sky above spinning in her vision. Get up! Move, girl! You're a sitting duck up here against that thing! Came the tiny voice of her GF in her mind. Already the burns were healing as the rabbit-like being cast Cure on her.
Ny dragged herself up into a crouch and carefully peered out from behind the now-blackened chimney at the monster, hearing Yuki's voice from nearby shouting out vital information about it. A Hexadragon! Okay this is going to be a little more tricky than the minor level hellspawn we've had so far! She caught Rem's directive, listening intently. "Got it!" The girl called back from the rooftop, watching as Rem's dispel collided with the dragon, following by several satisfying rounds of gunfire.
Now!
Ny spread her wings and quickly pushed off into the air, flying out in front of the Hexadragon. With a slow exhale to steady herself, the sorceress drew deep into her inner well of mana, pulling forth as much of her magic as she dared. She felt it glow and build up through her form with comforting familiarity, making her whole body tingle. It would need to be far stronger than her previous attacks to work on an enemy this dangerous, she knew. She also hoped the other girls had the sense to avert their eyes again for a moment. A few seconds of build up, and then...
Bright white light exploded out of her body, causing a flashbang like an exploding star right in front of the monster.
"Yuki, you're up!" She shouted. From her vantage point in the air she could see Rem and Yuki both looking a little worse for wear, so while the monster was distracted Ny waved her hand towards the two girls. "Heal" She cast, sending the restorative magic winding their way.
Yukiko scrambled to get out of the collapsing building she was currently in, the structure crumbling after the side of its foundation had taken a good hit. Jumping out of the hole that was made, she landed back down to the streets and moved to take cover behind a vehicle, mounting her LMG on the hood of a truck. It didn't take long for her to hear Rem's command, and like instinct, Yukiko took cover as she rapidly swapped to her satchel filled with monster guts and material, quickly digging through and pulling out metal and flesh alike. Her hands began to light up with blue and yellow sparks as she began to use blue magic to fuse the material together, manipulating and transforming it into a nulblaze grenade.
Once she had the red grenade, she turned towards Rem and pulled the pin, chucking it as hard as she could like a baseball at Rem, the grenade triggering and exploding just above Rem as the Nulblaze fire orbs surround Nyale, circling her and now protecting her from fire magic.
Now for the air strike.
Yukiko had taken back to cover, focusing her summoning while the other two were distracting it, Ny having just shot her blinding arrow. Despite the intensity of this situation, Yukiko remained steadfast, not panicking. In the face of destruction and chaos, where everyone was freaking out and panicking, or steeling and resolving themselves in the horror of it all, Yukiko's expression hadn't faltered, like a veteren of combat. By all standards, she was a Trabian at heart with her calmness to the situation, and perhaps that gave the perspective of her being apathetic to the situation even if that was further from the truth.
The sky darkened, lightning struck around, only matched by the explosion of lightning that went off in the far distant east district. Yukiko, although worried about that, was focused on the fight at hand, and sure enough her GF Valigarmanda came swooping down from the sky with a loud "RAAAAAAAAAAAACK!" It let out a loud screech, flying past the beast as it came above the Hexadragon, flapping its wings. "Everyone get down!" Yukiko yelled as Valigarmanda unleashed its Tri-disaster on the beast. A massive burst of Firaga, Thundaga, and Blizzaga spells came crashing down onto the creature. At first, the flames healed the creature's wounds, but the series of ice and thunderstrikes that followed did more damage than healing, completely carpet bombing the hexadragon, and shortly thereafter Valigarmanda disappeared, having used its strongest attack on the dragon.
===============================
As Kalen and Azdaja remained close to Kaijuu as it was unleashing its furious wrath upon the monsters nearby, the beast suddenly stopped what it was doing, as if its madness and rage had finally stopped all at once. The GF turned its head, looking in the direction of Koyuki, and then, his head looked down at Kalen and Azdaja. Slowly, the beast lowered itself, placing its massive claws against the top of the buildings as it got lower, and lower, until it had its massive face looking at both of them up close. Both of them could feel its heavy breath gusting pass them, but, despite its proximity and closeness, the beast did not attack them. Instead, he looked to Azdaja and,,, spoke? "Ko...Yu,,,ki... Lost. Vod. Vul. Nii. Los. Ni. Drem. Bovul." Each word it spoke caused a burst of wind to hit them, but for Kalen, the only words he understood was his mother's name, but for Azdaja, well, he could understand the beast just fine.
But, as they were talking, the two of them could hear the sound of thunder striking in the distance. If they were to turn behind them, well, they'd see the entirety of East District turnt to rubble. There was nothing left but collapsed and destroyed buildings, but, from that destruction, there was something coming his way. Two things in fact. A slender figure in armor wielding both a gunblade and lance approached alongside what appeared to be Ixion, however, the GF's appearance had altered greatly. Instead of its beautiful white mane that it dawned, it had turned a crimson red, and the purple and blue that mixed its armor had taken to turning a fleshy black and red substance. It's eyes a crimson red like a demon, and its sharp demonic horn on its head matched that asthetic. Neither were close, and they were just walking in his direction. Time was ticking though, and it appeared that Kaijuu had lowered a hand down, offering it to the two of them.

The boy sloppily caught the revolver, but honestly a motion of relief sprawled across his face. He felt like something with a gun in his hand again. He was continuing to fight through the confusion of casting spells when the sound of music hit him. Etamara. She at one time would have been considered his understudy, but now. She could be his replacement honestly, although there was still a measure of family pride knowing that Marianna still outscaled her considerably. The melody made the madness measurable, and his focus began to properly return.
"I'd be crazy not to." He said, once again using a gesture to mimic the non-sorcerer's he'd seen cast spells. "Regen!" It didn't stop the pain, or let him move his legs, but it did let him stave off unconsciousness in this scenario. He glanced over at Etamara, his father's protege. "I don't need your permission to dance!"
Raeka motioned to Cerberus. "Get on if you're coming. I'm going hunting." A categorically stupid move. But he was going to prove to himself he wasn't invalid. ____________________________________________________
Rem, Nyale and Yukiko.
The Hexadragon was one of the most dangerous creatures in the world. Though any watching could tell a alarming sapience as it's posture changed after it was hit by a dispel. The creature could tell what was happening beyond bestial instinct; it was thinking.
And there was a terrible tragedy. A bright flash of light after the young Nyale had flown in front of the creature, however the creature neither flinched nor wavered. By the time the young Sorceress had the chance to cast her Heal spell, the Hexadragon had already leapt towards her with alarming alacrity. She likely did not have time to both react and cast her spell appropriately.
Perhaps Yukiko should have clarified more, it was immune to being blinded. A nasty trick that some of the apex had. It may have been a surprise that it included both light and dark afflictions of blindness, however it's many eyes were evolved to withstand that. Lenses on lenses, it would take serious damage to hinder it's eyesight.
The Hexadragon shrieked in a retaliatory roar as it heard Valigarmanda appeared. The creature opened it's mouth, and began to charge an attack. Once the Firaga hit, the creatures eyes flashed as it returned fire at the Guardian Force. It exchanged attacks, a horrific explosion struck Valigarmanda as the cluster of Thundaga and Blizzaga struck. Valigarmanda's defeated form crashed into a nearby building before disappearing, and the wounded Hexadragon refocused on the trio of girls.
It was hurt. And now it seemed, mad. ____________________________________________________
Rem's Powers
Do you not feel it? The voice asks, scratching at the back of Rem's mind.
It is unnatural. Brought here. It falls under your domain. Do you not feel the familiarity? Reach out girl, feel. Klaim your domain. Klaim your power and wield it. Otherwise you will fall. They all will fail. The river was beginning to surge. There was more to flow it, but it was stopped by a dam that could over flow at any moment. Would the girl break the damn, and dunk herself head first into the crashing waves. Or hold the wall, and tread water. ____________________________________________________

____________________________________________________ "Bro, I can't believe you don't trust the Headmaster. Yer own momma." The man began, before giving Kalen a big grin as introductions were given. "Yo, I'm the Skypiercer! But my friends call me Draak. Azdaja Draak." He put a friendly hand on Kalen's shoulder and had leaned towards the Chocobo to begin to speak with it, before he could hear the ground creak as Kaijuu began to orient itself to speak to them.
Azdaja straightened up once Kaijuu had leaned over to speak with him, "Cure!" He cast his last one on himself, and stood tall. While he had been keeping a positive air about him, it seemed whatever the Guardian Force had said made him decide to lock in. "Kalen, you're right. It's time to go."
The next moment was like lightning. Draak brought up his knee with rocket boosted speed, dead into Kalen's gut to knock the air out of him, if not knock him unconscious outright. "Sorry, Brochacho, but where you're most needed is anywhere but here." Putting Kalen over his shoulder, he quickly spoke in chocobo to alleviate Beaker. "Kweh! Quar-kw-quark kweh!"
"Kaijuu said 'Koyuki has gone dark. It is not peaceful. Flee.' And he's her Guardian Force, and she fights the toughest s**t in the world for a living, we're not about this choco-bud, we need to vamoose out of here otherwise we're getting worked!"
With that said, he leaped into the open hand of Kaijuu. "Help us bail, dude. This crash-out is too much with a sponger around." In his fighting hand he held his spear in fighting position, and he hoped the Chocobo would either save itself or take Kaijuu's help. Either way he needed to get the kiddo to safety.
Draak's face went blank for a moment. "Yo, sketchy, I just hit her son." ____________________________________________________
In The South The lightning blast, much less Xaris' cries over the radio had caught the attention of the adults here. Salem took a second glance at the Malboro. They couldn't ******** around like this. "Babel, Lis, Varitas. I need you to go stop whatever just dropped a Thundaja in the east district. The stupid green grotesque guppy is my element, which means it already dead. I can restrain this and take care of it by myself, but we can't lose any more of this city!"
Simple orders. Reasonable enough to Lis, who didn't want to leave her brother behind, but knew that with east gone, wherever their kids were, much less Gainsborough hospital were potential next victims. And that anti-magic blade Varitas wielded could stop another Thundaja at least. "Salem's right, he's pretty much immune to bad breath and keep it from advancing any further. But the rest of the city needs our help." ____________________________________________________
In The North Quistus used her whip to wrench one of Tsitcho's javelin's from the leg of the Ruby Dragon. The cacophony of pain from the action caused the Ruby Dragon to collapse on the weakened leg. With it vulnerable, Squall moved in for the kill, so much as ignoring the Ruby Dragon's fire breath, allowing the defensive buffs from Tori to help him tank the damage and burst through it with alarming speed.
It was only a moment later Lionhart used a boot to stomp on the jaw of the dragon, and with upward thrust stab his gunblade deep into the skull of the Ruby Dragon. The creatures eyes and nostrils flared white as the gunblade was activated, the explosive burst of the weapon ending what threat the dragon was. Lightly damaged, Squall stepped back from the corpse dragon. "Headmaster?"
"There's so many reports coming in. It seems the Sorcerer had gone for stalling tactics with the Malboro, and east district has been destroyed. Tsitsho, Tori, thank you for your assistance. It seems Babel and Varitas have been requested to stop what destroyed East, and I think the Trabian Four will do better than Squall and I reinforcing them. We'll head West to deal with the Behemoth. Once that's clear, we'll catch up with you." ____________________________________________________
In The West The Behemoth was only slightly inconvenienced by the gunfire of Irvine, and any of the other SeeD who had the chance to add to the battle. However something did catch it's undivided attention. The hellish railway of the Doomtrain caught it's attention.
A SeeD approached Selphie, obviously injured and probably most cashed out. "I-it's not just a Behemoth. It's Catoplebas!" A bigger, meaner version of your average Behemoth. With a glass shattering roar, it turned and sprinted towards Doomtrain on the tracks, and crashed in a head on collision with the Doomtrain. In the explosive aftermath, the Catoplebas stood triumphant over the now derailed and toppled Doomtrain before it was forced to dissipate back to Selphie's brain.
Luckily, the damage was done, and the Catoplebas recoiled suddenly from Irvine's heavy fire. It seemed it's defenses were lowered by Doomtrain. ____________________________________________________
President Breowitz
Status: In Control. Location: Eden Presidential Manor. ____________________________________________________ The gentleman stood at the window. His military service showing as with his hands behind his back, furrowed brow and straight posture showed to some extent he never gave it away. He could hear Nona shouting orders, staff running from point to point and the distant screams and spell blasts from the faraway battles.
Everything was going as planned. He had been certainly unsure of the potentialities that the old research had, and he remembered when everyone abandoned the project. But after all this time the President had come to the realization the old scars would never heal, not truly, and it was near time for Galbadia to put itself back at the top. Whether through gratitude or fear, Galbadia's global position would not be encroached upon again.
His head tilted slightly as his earpiece came to life. "Bossman, the crescendo is almost ready." Excellent. He thought, unflinching even as he saw a Thundaja strike. The perfect tool, one that cost me nothing. He thought of Koyuki Rieko. He only wondered. Now would Lady President actually have taken his offer of protection. Had she known this would happen? He had tried to warn her, but as usual, distrust was the only thing shown towards his country. _____________________________________________________

There was very little time for Ny to react as she saw the dragon lunge towards her. Its huge claws collided with her, swiping her out the air with the ease of a cat with a butterfly. The impact sent her crashing down through a shop window, and into a display of flowers. Stunned and bleeding, she lay there. A few jagged cuts from the dragon crossed her chest and arms where it had hit her, blood leaching out into her white shirt and staining it red. Her body hurt like she'd been run over by a whole herd of chocobos.
Disorientated and in pain, she tried to get her bearings again and assess how badly she was injured. Sugar honey iced tea, that really hurt...think I need a minute.... Her GF appeared at her side, casting Cura on her to begin closing the wounds. The attempt to blind the dragon hadn't worked, which was unfortunate, and Ny was confused as to why. Did Yuki miss that its immune to blinding? She realised. She wanted to trust Yuki and Rem on the battelfield, but acting on their advice again after this would be hard. It's not their fault. Be more cautious next time. You are responsible for your own actions, and they've never fought with you before. Calliope's voice echoed sternly, ever the reasonable one. It reminded her slightly of Salem, who no doubt would have said something equally harsh but true. You're right...it was foolish. She sighed.
Dust fell from ceiling as the explosions outside shook the whole building, making Ny cough. She looked over at the shattered window, still wanting to get back out there and help Yuki and Rem. The girl struggled to sit up, grimacing. No, stay still! The rabbit creature chided. "I don't have time for this! I can't leave them out there with that thing. I have to do something" She protested. She had no idea what the state of play was across the rest of the city, but the fact that no one else had shown up to help yet meant that worse things must be happening, and they were on their own with this. It was a worrying thought.
Hauling herself to her feet she staggered over to the door, finding it locked, and so immediately climbed out of the broken window instead, dropping un-gracefully down onto the street. She looked towards Rem and nodded, hopefully indicating to her that she was okay. Despite how it might've looked otherwise, being covered in blood and dust.
Keep your distance, girl. You can't take another hit like that...
Noted
The dragon looked angrier than before, but also like it had been injured.
"Now or never, then. Holy!"
Ny drew from within once more and sent out the spell, the holy light magic hurtling towards the beast. Then she crumpled sideways against the wall, out of breath at the exertion.

Kiss me good-bye, love's memory Follow your heart and find your destiny Won't shed a tear, for love's mortality For you put the dream in my reality
Beaker's irate "KWEH!" was all Kalen heard as once more he offered a hand to someone and they had struck him with a strike to the stomach. This one had been noticeably much less powerful than the one Koyuki had delivered less than a few days ago, but still it was a sudden and still powerful strike for him to absorb out of nowhere. Damn it... was all he could mouth, feeling the strength and air leave his body. "GAH..." the only auditory sound that was produced by him. Draak's words were heard but fell on irrate and now proverbially deaf ears. I was part of the reason she stopped... The look on Koyuki's face that night had been ingrained in his memory, one that was cold and thunderous to others yet deceived a softness towards him that he could not understand from her. Whatever was happening to her now was...she was worse than before.
Even as Draak manhandled him and spoke to Beaker, the bird only squawked furiously at the man, repeating a few choice words in Chocobo to the man while immediately checking on his master. "KWEH, KWEEEEEEEEH! Quark-wa-kwe-kwe-QUARK!"
"You stupid b*****d! You didn't have to hit him! You all think you need to baby him when he's an adult who can make his own choices!"
Angrily, the bird strutted around as they all three stepped onto Kaijuu's claw, Kalen seemingly unconscious and slumped over the Trabian man's shoulder. "Urgh..." came from his still form, his limps laying there over Draak's shoulder. Beaker only had to look at his head whilst checking again on Kalen to see that the young man was wide awake and a burning defiance in his eyes. I will not be put into time out like a child.
As Kaijuu raised its claw, Kalen swept into action, one swinging hand grasping the reins of Beaker while the other hand had the second to last smoke grenade. One full movement had the pin pulled by his mouth and placed in Draak's back pocket, the other gripping the reigns tightly as Beaker turned its back and did one thing that Chocobos and Donkeys loved to do and have in common. A sharp kick to the back of the man, almost seemingly out of instinct, before jerking its head and pulling the young man attached to the reigns with him, ducking and allowing Kalen to grasp onto its neck as it leapt of off the claw and ran down the arm of the giant guardian force. Kalen had no qualms about this, still unable to speak as he felt the pain subside from his stomach. Draak had the grappling hooks and pin pointed a landing onto Beaker...he would be fine. One leap from the the length of Kaijuu's limb to its back had Beaker literally running down the beast's back and tail as it charged towards a lone woman marching her way towards them with a corrupted horse by her side.
He pulled his phone out and texted Nona and his family. A small phrase as they strode towards the embodiment of matriarchal tyranny.
I love you. Sorry in advance.
Into the Valley of Death stood the boy and his bird.
Kalen hopped off the bird and patted its neck, a concerned wark from its beak. "Run off, now, if she kills me at least you don't have to suffer for my idiocy." A small smile dressed the face covered layered in fear and unsureness. "If you can, go find other SeeD and lead them here. The faster the better. She's going to go after everything if someone doesn't do something." A sad look crossed the bird's face as it trotted off, slowly, and then quickly, realizing the urgency of the matter. The bird was fast, hopefully someone would see it.
"Come on, Mother." he said out loud, looking towards the looming figure, "This bit, again?" He was on edge, the last smoke grenade in his hand. There were buildings to his right that were open and available to run into. They were just too close to the shelters for something to not stand in her way for at least a moment. "Ixion, you're allowing this?"

It didn’t work.
Horror gripped Rem as the monstrosity bent its too-many limbs to lunge! She threw herself out of the way, rolling into the rubble just in time to see that she was never its target at all.
”NYALE!” Rem shrieked from the ground in horror as the monster swatted the girl out of the sky! The Sorceress crashed through a window and out of sight, leaving only a red stains on the broken glass.
Huddled against one of the useless motor vehicles littering the street, Rem froze. Anxiety paralyzed her thoughts. The sight of that enormous claw slamming into Nyale played again and again behind her eyes. Ny. Her friend. The girl who’d trusted her commands!
She’d have died then and there if not for the shadow swooping out of the darkling skies. Before the dragon could round on her, the shriek of the heavenly beast Valigarmanda crashed over the battlefield. Rem clutched at her chest. Couldn’t breathe! Couldn’t think!
Fire, lightning, and ice stormed through the street! The twin titans launched terrible blasts of elemental power, turning the world into a terrifying, beautiful cataclysm of flames, sparks, and snow! The girl watched. She watched as even their mightiest weapon fell. The dragon was bloodied. Not dead. Not deterred.
Do you not feel it?
The thought wormed its way through the fear. Feel…She was feeling a lot right now- most of it terror and first-degree burns!
But she did feel it. Something wrong…but familiar all the same.
I can’t.
Then you’ll die.
The hexadragon turned six baleful eyes toward them.
The river was rising.
It’s not true!
Then you’ll die.
A blast of brilliant white light erupted from where Nyale had emerged, arguably in one piece. Yukiko wasn’t far from Rem, her gun mounted on a truck.
She no longer felt the car at her back. She felt the water thrumming through the barrier.
I don’t have a domain! I don’t have power! I’m Not A Sorceress!
Then they’ll die.
Rem dragged herself up, using the car behind her for support. She looked the dragon in one of its too-many eyes.

Rem let the river wash over her. And I... Am a Sorceress.
It was over-abundant. Such a wealth of magic that she had never imagined, and with this new surge of power new feelings began to build in her. New sensations. It washed Rem away.
The Sorceress Stood. She needed no support from the vehicle, or assistance. She took a regal stance, as if she was queen of everything, the very air seemed to change with her demeanor. Her mouth split in a slight smile as she appreciated the caliber of spell being cast by Nyale. The woman slid her tongue across her lips as she stared at the Hexadragon. Kreature. Did she speak? Her lips didn't move.
The Hexadragon flinched at her sight, and the instinctual flight or fight kicked in, and the dragon was seeking an exit, not that it would be allowed to reach one. The woman flicked her wrist with a dismissive motion at the Hexadragon, and space time itself conceded to her will. A small cherub emerged, and tapped the creature on the head. The ground below the monster erupted into a white light, beams of energy flowing into the sky as piece by piece the Hexadragon was returned to it's proper time. Return Home.
The river had ebbed. Pushed it's borders out and claimed more for it's domain. Consciousness returned to Rem, as the river waned.
s**t! She had forgotten to say something about the immunity to being blind and Nyale suffered for it. "Gnngh! Grrr!!" Yukiko growled out of anger, digging through her satchel. "You're gonna hurt my friends... you're gonna regret it." She began her mixing, transfiguring three blue grenades. She heard the howling of the beast, it's glare focused on Rem as she shouted at the creature. "Tch.... Hold on Rem... I'm coming." She muttered to herself as she quickly attached her grenade launcher attachment to the base of the LMG, loading her three grenades into it. Likely Rem and Nyale were engaging the hexadragon, but during that time, Yukiko quickly finished reloading, moving from her position to shoot her grapple hook across the rooftop; only she found that Rem had done something at that time. Her eyes in shock as she saw Rem send the Hexadragon back from where it came from. She was puzzled, holding the gun up. But with the dragon gone she ran over to the two. "Are you two okay?" She called out to them, mostly worried about Nyale who took the heaviest hit of the group.

Mai and Etamara both were reluctant to let Raeka fight, but in this case, damned if he did or didn't. The intense fighting and shockwave from the Thundaja knocked the power out at the hosptial, so any sort of medical help was out of the question. Etamara huffed at his statement but quickly rebuddled with a humming tune, his body suddenly being struck with protect, and shell from her. Mai, also decided to shift her attention to Raeka who was continuing to push himself. Reaching into her belt pouch, she pulled out an injection needle and jammed it into his rib. A battle stimulant to wake him up, enhance his senses, and ignore his pain. It didn't cure any damage he had, but his fatigue would be gone temporarily. "If you're gonna do stupid stuff, at least we're gonna do it together." She said as she climbed onto Cerberus with Raeka but holstered her gun, instead unsheathing her katana and focusing. "Hey! You lazy b*****d! Get up! I got a deal to make you!" She began to concentrate, attempting to call out her GF. Etamara, seeing this, sighed. "I guess I'll get my hands dirty." She said as she took the handle of her instrument, wielding it like a sword and swung it at several of the bite bugs coming at them, a burst of sound reverberating across the air and causing the other bite bugs to feel vertigo and become off balance. =====================
Babel and Varitas both looked to Salem as he told them to go deal with the threat in east district. Though they were reluctant to leave Salem alone, the loss of one section of the city was bad enough. With that in mind, both Odin and Hades turned, picking up their summoners and taking off towards the east district alongside with Lisanna. Babel in particular was concerned about that Thundaja spell, thinking about Koyuki. Xaris's warning set some chill to her, not liking how these events were playing out.
==============================
Tori and Tsitsho, having help slain the Ruby Dragon both stopped to hear the warning, and shortly thereafter the explosion from Thundaja caught their attention. Both of them looked shocked at the destruction. Tsitsho, walking over to the Ruby Dragon, ripped out all of his Javelins that were embedded into the beast while Tori began to carve out some of its scales and part of its tail. "We'll leave the rest of the materials in your care, Headmaster. It is your kill. We will go deal with the threat." It was a habit to take material from a kill, but since time was of the essence, they would leave the corpse to Quistist, knowing she could make more use of it than they could in the moment.

Selphie gasped as she saw Doomtrain crash and toppled, almost looking utterly upset that her favorite train had been defeated! "DOOMTRAIN NO!!!" She stomped her feet in anger, tightly clutching her nunchucks as she glared at the monster. "THIS IS FOR MY TRAIN! TRIPLE WATERGA!!" She shouted as she blasted the creature with three explosive water bombs that went off with violent ruptures, smashing into the Catoblepas. Irvine, seeing his wife upset about her train and getting herself worked up, figuring it was best to end this fight as soon as he could. So, reaching into his pouch, he pulled out an aura stone and shattered it into his hand. The spell of aura surrounded him, and he activated his hyper shot. Pulling the trigger, a massive laser beam fired out from his gun, scorching the earth beneath his feet as the blast came smashing right into the beast with violent force. Again, he fired, matching his wife's triple Waterga with three laser blasts of his own upon the beast.
=====================================
Kaijuu, upon seeing Kalen bolt away with the chocobo muttered these words to Draak. "Daar. Kul. Los. Dilon."
"That boy is dead."
Keeping Draak in his hand, Kaijuu stood up tall with him in hand, staring down at both Kalen and the two monstrous entities approaching them. In the midst of this, Draak felt a rush of power surging in his spirit. The GF had chosen him, and now junctioned itself to him. He left it to Draak to decide how to use him in this moment as Kalen approached his mother.
The two beastly entities stood in front of Kalen, having stopped when Kalen reached about close enough to speak to her. It was in poor judgement to get close to her, and it was obvious why with the deformed body she took. There was nothing human in front of him. Any semblance of his mother that was in there, was completely buried beneath the monstrosity that stood before him. Maybe he expected some words, maybe he expected love from her like before, but unfortunately for him, this was no longer his mother anymore. Instead, alql he got from the monster was a monstrous toothy smile as sharp shark toothy teeth formed a wide grin across her face. The eyes in her shoulder and arm stared at Kalen with bloodshot yellow eyes. Without warning she raised her lance out towards Kalen and blasted him with a monstrous ability. Electrocute! Sparks of lightning burst out of her hand, hitting him. This was not like any other attack Kalen had ever faced. This attack was meant to kill, and it showed by how he was flung off his feet and hit the ground, the lightning current continuously shocking him.

Kiss me good-bye, love's memory Follow your heart and find your destiny Won't shed a tear, for love's mortality For you put the dream in my reality
His voice called out, facing the approaching malevolent figures with a trademark air of defiance. The joking that left his lips would be the only humor in the situation, a passive sense of dread filling him and overflowing into a presentation of placidness laying across his face. The world around them was nigh dystopian, rubble from the recent Thundaja strike illustrating the severity of the situation at hand. In his hand, the last smoke grenade sat ready to be used, and his hand reached for the revolver, withdrawing it and feeling its weight in its grasp. Its weight reminded him of Rem, herself holding the twin that they had received as a gift together when they had became teenagers. I hope she's okay... A shadow crossed over his face, not knowing if she was or wasn't. If Nyale was okay....if Yukiko was...maybe they had accidentally been drawn into the Eastern area before Koyuki had unleashed electrical hell upon the sector. Whatever injured had been lying, waiting for rescue and medical attention...whoever had been struggling to get to the shelters past the last defense line...they were removed from this life at the stroke of her hand.
The situation now presented itself plainly. Yes, it was foolhardy that he was standing between the two approaching death machines. Yes, there was no way for him to beat these monsters. Someone had to slow them down before they reached the shelters. More innocent women, children, and injured men were in there and beyond. This creature that had been his biological mother showed no sense of morality, the eyes on her shoulder and arm were locked on his frame and gave no allusion to the fact that he was her son. The devil approached him, with her black horse by her side, and once done with her first born, would go to kill whoever was behind them. "Sorry, Draak. If someone doesn't slow her down, the shelters are next. She doesn't care."
It was the right thing to do. Nona and Lloyd, ma and pa, would have done that exact thing. Even his father, in his heart he knew, would have stood between hell and good people just to stave it off long enough. It was a suicide mission, Kalen acknowledging it, and the thought of dying made him a little sad. He loved life. Everyone knew how much the Prince of Unita enjoyed and relished in drinking from the fountain of life. The world was so wide and open, so much in it to explore and see, for himself and for his father he had partaken in so much. Life was so enthralling to him, the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Even the middling portions were still important to him, taking each moment like it was an opportunity to see or do something new and exciting. The memories of his youth with Rem and his siblings, all the people of UNITA, seeing Nyale's smile all flashed through his head as the entity halted not far from him with Ixion, beginning to shake where he stood. I love you guys...I'm really sorry.
"DRA-" he pulled the revolver upward as the creature smiled and raised its lance, a shot ringing out loud and clear across the wasteland. The bullet shot towards the eye on the shoulder, a quick and accurate shot. It did nothing to prevent Kalen from being struck by the electrocution attack, launching him backward and through the air as high voltage archs of energy traveled up and down his twitching body. All that could be heard was a loud howl, a scream like no other, his eyes locked on the armor of the entity and its horse before him. "ACK....." was all he could say between the most painful howls he'd ever uttered, foam beginning to rise from his mouth whilst shaking from the overabundance of pain. The smell of ozone filled the air, and a taste of iron spread itself in the back of his throat as he twitched and tried to crawl towards the monolith of despair. The hairs on his limbs stood at attention, burning as his skin itself started to crack with the intensity that the assault brought upon him. Even his eyes were turning bloodshot, each convulsion making it worse and worse.
Kalen Vicaria was in hell.
The only thing that he could do was look onwards at the attacker. His vision flashed, the colors pulsing with each beat of the electrocute. For a few moments, the world seemed brightly lit until it started to fade, a haze passing over like a filter in his eyes. Color to black and white. Color...black and white. It shifted slowly in between, and here he knew that it would kill him. There was nothing that he could do. He was not strong enough. He was not a SeeD. He had no Guardian Force. He had no magic. All of these things that should have been a red flag preventing him from standing between the devil and hundreds of victims, but still he stood there regardless.

Ny leaned against the wall of the building, relieved to see her spell hit the dragon. She felt a spark of satisfaction, payback for the hit she took earlier. But was it even close to be being defeated? She didn't know. Her gaze was quickly drawn to Rem after hearing the girl's final proclamation. Ny hadn't forgotten about the Succession, but she was surprised to hear Rem state it out loud so openly. The girl had barely been around the last few days so Ny had no chance to speak with her yet about gaining Raeka's powers, or find out how she was feeling about it.
Something seemed to change with Rem's demeanour. Nyale watched intently, eyes narrowing as she studied the new Sorceress. It doesn't look like her...or feel like her... She thought, watching closely and trying to sense Rem's aura. It was...different. In a very unsettling way that Ny couldn't place. It seemed like it was someone else in Rem's body entirely. And the most strange and eerie thing, she realised, was the dragon seemed to actually be afraid of Rem now...
Ny couldn't help but gasp in shock as Rem flicked her wrist and the cherub appeared, causing the Hexadragon to disappear amidst beams of light. In a moment it was all over. "W-What the hell was that...?" She stammered, amber eyes wide. How the heck did she do that?? She disappeared a Hexadragon like it was nothing! Ny was deeply unnerved. Something didn't feel right. She took a slow breath, trying to calm herself. Well, at least it's gone...
And her friend seemed to have returned to herself. "Oh y-yeah don't worry about me, really, I'll be okay. Just a scratch!" Ny replied to Yuki as the younger girl came running over. She pushed herself off the wall and stood up on shaky legs, walking over towards the two other girls. Her GF bounded along behind her. Her wounds had closed up and the bleeding had stopped, but her whole body still felt sore. "Are you okay, Yuki? And Rem...? That was...incredible...how did you do that?" She gave Rem a curious look, tilting her head.
Across the city the sounds of monsters wreaking havoc could still be heard, amidst explosions, sirens, and distant screams. Ny shivered. "This is so awful...I don't understand how this could happen, I-I can't believe it" She shook her head. Her mind went back to that night at the hospital, when Salem had entered her room.
"There are factors at play you're unaware of..."
At the time she had been too tired and resigned to question any further, and was mainly happy to hear that he, at least, really did believe her about Xaris (though her punishment still stung). Now she wondered what exactly were those factors? What had she gotten her nose stuck into, that she wasn't privy to? Strange, violent, unsettling things had happened in this supposed City of Peace, and she had the feeling it was all tied together somehow. It was not a pleasant realisation.
That in turn led to thoughts of her cousin back in the hospital. Injured and vulnerable, his sorcerer powers gone. Her stomach was suddenly a twisted knot of worry. If it wasn't for being in the thick of the fighting with Rem and Yuki, Ny would have headed straight there as soon as the thought entered her mind. Surely her uncle would make his son's safety the highest priority? And Mai was there too. Please keep him safe... She prayed inwardly. However different they were, family was the most important thing. Her mother she wasn't too worried about, at least. The ice Sorceress was probably off throwing blizzaja's at the Iron Giants, knowing her.
Ny snapped back to the present. "We can't let the city fall...there must be more we can do..." She looked between the two other girls, waiting for their response.
