I would love to make an AMV using Nightwish's song "Elven Path". (Yes, I know I'm getting ahead of myself here, as I haven't yet finished my first, technically ~ damn the frame cleaning I say!) For those of you unfamiliar with Nightwish it is a Power Metal band, with a female lead singer with an amazingly beautiful voice, and male backup vocals, and excellent heavy guitar work. I actually already have the inklings of a potential idea, but I'm interested in hearing other insights. The lyrics to "Elven Path" are as follows - items in paranethesis are spoken, not sung.
My inkling of idea is to use Elfen Lied as the anime source.
I feel this would not only due to the fit provided in the name of the anime

but also for use of violent imagery with the harder metal solos
and the more beautiful vocal bits with the softer side.
That being said, lets see if this recommending service you tried to set up earlier will work any magic, or if I'll be forced to jumpstart my own creative juices (which isn't necessarily bad). I would prefer a single anime source, but may experiment with using footage from many (it would be a new challenge to me, and potentially interesting).
There's more to it, of course, but not that I"m willing to commit to writing at this time.
