Discussion: Over Priced Donation Items

I agree, but only to a degree. The whole supply/demand thing is basic economics, and I understand why X item is worth Y gold. I'll admit, I get irked when sealeds get jacked up, but I've gathered the money to get it if I really want it. However, I think there's a very key reason sealeds are so expensive. Look at the past few months of items? I for one haven't been disappointed with any of the donation items this year.

Greedy people that can sell a bunch of letters because people anticipate a good item will no doubt hike up the price because people don't want to pay 3-4k more when they open. If the next few donation items aren't as popular (not necessarily PJs unpopular, but you get my point) the price might have a bit of a dip.
Yeah, I'd very much like to buy a letter at 3k (and I would if given the chance), and I'd very much like to blame the economy for it, but I can't. It's the greed. Any online community with a user based market is gonna have problems like this. Take a look at MMORPGs.

I don't buy anything really other then store items these days not because of prices but because I don't feel like there is anything I really would die questing for at the moment. What really insults me is when people try selling store items in the Marketplace for more then they are worth is the store. That is not only greedy, but ********' lazy and retarded beyond reasoning.

Nobody would buy them. Considering there's an unlimited supply of them, (until the end of the month) there'd be no use in charging that much off the bat. People won't be able to afford it, thereby leaving the greedy bastards with severe surplus.

What really ticks ME off is when I go in the Marketplace and see people trying to make a profit reselling casino tokens for way more than 1g each. I just saw a (x367) Token with autobuy of 4k exclaim
Of course I'm willing to accept that some of these are going to auction for less... maybe xp

Anyway, the only people that are going to buy those are extremely new newbies that don't know you can get them for 1g. It's almost like a scam.

The donation items are pretty insane.

I sold my spare devil tail for 5 mil pure.

Oh my. I was bored, wanting to buy something, and the stores weren't working. So I figured I'd go check out the exchange. e____x

That place is disgusting. I was checking out an inventory sale thread, and this person had a grass skirt for 6,000 gold. DD: I remember when those went for about 1,000 if that. And then the Nitemare Headband, some guy offered 85,000 for one. Those used to be around 20,000.

I never realized how out of hand the prices were. I used to hang out in the exchange all the time, and then I stopped so I haven't really been in there for a long time. But I mean, it's not even just the donation items that are priced amazingly high. Regular gift box items are outrageous!

I mean, when did this happen? Last year, it was fine, and I mean. Wow. I'm just so amazed.

As the days go by, so does the prices. The prices of each set of donation items can start to sway away from each other more and more as well. I remember just a year ago, I bought an AFK for only 80k and imagine the prices now... well, you know how much the price as rised. I suppose this is because it's a limited item and only comes in by actual cash.... ( you see why the gaia olympic shirt prices don't change much? )

( on another notice, I'm trying to buy a REAL OMG hat at the moment but ordering it will cost 28 bucks. rip off. ._. )

I like to get the donation items, especially if they rock, like the recent ones have been, but I also tend to dissapear from gaia occasionally for a few weeks at a time. So some months I usually only have enough for a donation item and that's it. some months I even have to sell some stuff I don't use to get one.

Doesn't sound much, but I like to spend and don't have that much gold.

I think that all the donation items are becoming overpriced. For example, the Sash and Devil Tail. The Tail has been sold for 2 Sashes sometimes.
