I have gotten a blue box, a brown box and a wooden trunk this week.
General guidelines to make your odds better (or so I've heard) is to do all of them (there is a link in my sig to a complete list) once a day.
Stay active in the forums and post alot. Being active seems to make them appear more often. (It really does.)
Read the intros in my link, it will really make things clearer.
And they show up in your my stuff after you click them. There is no alert so just look. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for them to show up so check again if you don't get anything.
The most I've gotten is 6 items in a week, and I was a posting fool that week. Generally only one or two items a week.

I said the TV was lame, because I went through the whole list, of 100, a-z, and the ab,bc,cd, etc. and the others.
and got the enchanted wood/gold trunks.
speaking of, the gold one gave me a holo floor tile.
I don't even have a house. gonk
