To me, it depends on the context it is used in and the emotion it is trying to get across. I commonly use both versions when I am writing something.

i.e.

He never dreamed he would see her again.
As she slept, she dreamt; as she dreamt, the world around her faded into the intangible illusion of her dream.

Actually it's both I just looked up the dictionary and it said dreamed or dreamt, it could depend on the person who uses the word, but who knows sweatdrop

Technically, it's both. It just depends on the context of the word. But I prefer dreamt over dreamed.

One of my English teachers said the English language is constantly changing and adapting. For instance, in 20 years or so, she believes "whom" will cease to exist.
I think "dreamt" is in the middle of changing. The older version, dreamt, used to be the only way to write the word, but the word has changed over the past few decades.

A definite brain drain... I suppose "dreamt" and "dreamed" are both used correctly. Either way, it makes sense. Yet, I suppose it is only your preference, but in my opinion, I consider "dreamt" more positive.

I've never heard of dreamed, but it's good to know

The MoUsY spell-checker
Both "dreamt" and "dreamed" are correct, but one or the other might be more common depending on where you are. If I remember this correctly, "dreamt" is more commonly used in British English, and "dreamed" is more common in American English.

That sounds about right.

Dreamt sounds better, but on Microsoft Word it wants to correct it. I think it sounds better. I dreamed of horses. I dreamt of horses.

Well I guess it really depends on how you use the word. It is possible that you could use both of the words "dreamed" and "dreamt." It just depends on how you use them in statements.

Example: "I never dreamed this would happen."
Example 2: "I dreamt this would have come"

Although dreamed sounds more correct.

I think it's "dreamt".

Older English uses dreamt, and it is derived from the way that German conjugates its adjectives. When you use the past conjugation of a weak verb in German you put 't' on the end. A lot of English is derived from German, seeing as the Anglos and the Saxons were originally German barbarian tribes that migrated to England and kicked the Druids out. So plenty of our languages is German. So I think that it was originally 'dreamt', but as the terms Americanize into more English forms, instead of the 't' on the end we have 'ed'. So to those of you who study older English, it is 'dreamt'. Newer stuff will probably use 'dreamed'. The English language does change consistently, mostly American English, because of the different cultures we have influencing us.

Grammatically speaking, I think both are correct. I tend to use 'Dreamed' more than 'Dreamt'. I'm not sure of the difference though.

I dreeeamed a dreeeam in times gone byyy... When hope was high, and life worth liiiiving...

Hmm. Dunno. I think each has a specific place in parts of a sentence, such as "who" and "whom".

I always thought either was correct to use. ^.^
