I know he doesn't wear pink in the manga, but I'm pretty sure I know why they made him wear it in the show. I call it 'The Bishounen Affect'. It makes him look prettier and more feminine. Animators did the same to Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho. In the manga he has black hair (even colored versions) but they made it red on the anime. I don't really mind that he wears pink, but I wonder why no one has called him out in an age wear 'manly men' prevail...? Oh well, Kenshin looks good in anything in my eyes... ^_^

Not.So.Little Hey, hey, hey! It's magenta, not pink! ninja I personally think that it was a mess up on the American counter parts when they were redrawing the whole show. Some episodes(if my mind serves me right lol) it was a mix between red or a darker purple. But then again I've haven't watched the series in a while, I might have to go re-watch them sweatdrop .

I forgot where, but I recall reading somewhere that it's a 'hide in plain sight' kind of thing. A mankiller, an assassin, would never wear such an ostentatious colour. So he does, and he takes on the 'rurouni' mannerisms, and thus people discount him.

However, I believe that the TV series, as it reaches a much larger and more diverse audience, is marketed to both those who have already read the manga and mid to late teen girls. I think this may be one of the reasons why he seems to where pink, actually magenta, as already pointed out.

Going along with the femininity thing, Watsuki does state in one of the first mangas that he was afriad that Kenshin's character design was too feminine so he added the scar to his cheek, but that has nothing really to do with the fact that his shirt is magenta. razz

Ha ha kenshin is just cool like that. He can wear whatever his little (yet not so little) rurouni heart wants to. I do think its because of what someone else said earlier though. It's kind of so he doesn't draw attention to himself. SMART man sweatdrop
