I love the Wii. I bought it the day it came out here in the UK. I haven't played Zelda recently though, since we've moved it's been set up in the living room, and there's usually someone in there watching TV. Unfortunately, Excite Truck isn't out here in the UK yet, but I'm really excited about it since I read a review.
And yeah, I also agree with Nintendo's marketing plans, they're trying a new form of control in order to attract more people to videogames. For the people who have never played videogames in your life, or haven't played many, what's the first problem you have with them? Nintendo (and myself) seem to think it's the matter of control. Not that many people are willing to pick up a controller and spend the best part of an hour going through tutorials and mastering ten or so different button combinations. That is why the Wii excels. It's sheer simplicity. You can pick up a controller and, assuming you already know it's motion sensitive, in games like Wii Sports, it's already pretty obvious what you have to do. And it's almost like you're right there in the game. And there's the Virtual Console, which I haven't had any experience using (yet), that lets you dowload some retro games from an expanding back catalogue.
....Yes, I'm good at rambling about the Wii. Maybe I'm turning into a fanboy....

Oh and the marketing. If you really think about it Wii sticks in your mind alot more than Revolution. Remember, All Publicity is good Publicity.

Spiritually Phyrexian Demon Personally I think that they should have stayed with their first choice of names: the Revolution. It sounds so much better than 'Wii'. It cuts down on precious syllables-- we'll need all we can get to appropriate proper English into the place it belongs: real life. That doesn't make sense? Well, consider this a whore-post. Actually, the name change was because Nintendo believed if they wanted to get the system everywhere they would need a name that everyone in the world could say, accent or no accent.

Marcus McFlufferson But why Wii? Does that have some sort of meaning in Japanese? Actually, I looked a little into this, and besides the whole, "accent-prounciation" thing, It's to sound like "We" To show somehow that everyone can play. I might be incorrect, but I would like to look at it this way, wouldn't you? Also, I love Warioware, but the demo-game Wii Sports has to be the Sh!t. Happy Feet though, That was s**t.

I absolutely love the Wii! Trauma Center is great, as well as Zelda and the Pokemon game.

heart The only reason I got a Wii is because my brother wanted one. Of course, with him being a guy and with the classical sterotype of 'guys play more games than girls', he chose the new system over an Xbox 360. I'd much rather prefer the 360 considering I like first person shooters on it the Wii can't offer. The only games I ever play on my Wii are Super Paper Mario, Twilight Princess, and Mario Party 8. It's sad, really.

The Wii is a great system indeed. I'm not really obsessed by the controller specifically, but it's the ease of play and unique features that keep me hooked. I cannot put down Paper Mario on VC or Twilight Princess unless I have more important things to do, because they're just so awesome.
As for the name...eh, I can live with it... sweatdrop
