I think it's more of a question of Kishimoto not knowing what to do with women. A lot of his female characters have potential: Tsunade, Ino, Anko, Temari, TenTen. Heck, even Sakura and Hinata could be something special. But even though he lays the groundwork for nifty characters, he just doesn't seem to know how to folow through.

I'm happy, though. Thanks to the wonders of importing and Freeloading technology, I get Anko in full 3D fighting game glory. In the original Japanese (yeah, baby!)

Of course, our lament over the lack of awsome XX characters is pretty much expected in Shounen. I mean, what were we expecting? Kishi is the guy who learned most of his storytelling craft from DBZ. There were, uh, three? main women in that series. I think. One non-combat, one combat-who-gave-up-fighting-to-have-babies and one kick-a** fighter who married a guy with no nose. Kishimoto's female role modles weren't exactly great material for future leet ninja chicks.

Plus, he's Japanese. Sadly, Japan's still got certain views about women, and Kishimoto seems to have tagged onto them, at least in part. Someone refresh my memory: is Tayuya actually dead, or was she simply "knocked unconcious"?

wait...Anko is one of the Naruto games? Please god say yes and that it's one of the ones for gamecube!

also, everyone of the sound 4(5) was killed in the fights, that was a point that was made I believe. Her was the only one not true obvious, but I believe she was killed by Temeri.

don't care about Ino, she can go die with her stupid cartwheels

I will make it my mission to become so good with Anko that I own every living being capable of playing that game. kinda like I did with the Quin Manthra in Gundam Battle Assault 2 or Link/Samus in the orignial SSB(I was a living god in both games at my prime.)

I think it's because Sasuke was told to kill people and he didn't (making him disobediant, and thus, a pissy brat) where as Naruto simply didn't kill someone as expected (making him a failure. twisted )

Frankly, I'm disapointed at them both, and at Kishi, but I can see why he would set things up this way. Naruto is the hero, and heros aren't generaly supposed to kill people. Cuz that's Bad. And Sasuke can't kill people for Orochimaru, because that is also Bad, and Sasuke is supposed to be a Tragic Dark Hero Who Avenges His Familly, but not a murderer. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if Sasuke ever gets ahold of Itachi, he lets him walk. And Itahci commits seppuku because he's finally found someone stronger.

In fact, I'm calling that now for the ending of Naruto. Everyone take note! Sasuke will get Itachi at his mercy, and let him walk.



I think anyone sane in naruto is happy when there are stronger people than them around on their side. Teamates/fellow villagers who are stronger than you = the chumps who get all the shitty, extra dangerous, mentaly scaring missions. Also, they have a shorter lifespan. They're great distractions for the enemy. Kinda like those speeding cars on the freeway that you can cruise behind at a slightly slower pace. The cops get them, cuz they're first and fastest, and leave you alone.

Yes, that's my main bitchery, too. I supose, though, that if we wanted Hard Core Ninja killin' we'd all watch Basilisk (actually, I might go ahead and watch Basilisk anyways.)

Personaly, I've long since replaced 'ninja' with 'mercenary'. It fits much better, and it bends enough that you can get away with the lack of killing. It's too bad, though. Kishimoto's set things up beautifuly to take things down a darker path. Gaara, Sasori, Zabuza and Haku. . . they were all the result of a really screwed up system. It would have been nice to get more of an exploration of that. But, well, this is an action-oriented, upbeat series. . .
