People do seem to drop tenses after a while. I think that's just evolving language. While it's no good to have a static language (because a static language is a dead language), sometimes changes really aren't for the best.

Plus, face it: it's America. We'll be lucky if in 2020 we're still using the apostrophe. But I digress.

Actually, people use it more than they're supposed to.
They think that when you add an "s" to something (in order to make it plural), that an apostrophe is necessary.

For a few example's, I see thing's like this lot's of time's.
I opened the door to let my dog's out.
I cut a piece of paper using scissor's.

I see that kind of s**t all the time.
