How does Fanime look at night?

I'm going there in a large group. Around 30-40 people.

and we are planning to be there late on the first day anyways.

It's hecka amusing. I hung around the SJCC area near the Hilton most of the time when I wasn't at MusicFest, Masquerade, or at any of the other late night events(like screenings and raves), though I had a bit of staff department-related meetings so that took a bit out of my time. I would've gone to Yaoi Nights if I wasn't underage =...

I love seeing people having sex in public whether it's in the raves, bathrooms, or hentai nights XD. Boy that never gets old.

I'm never going to the rave late at night again. It smelled like fanboy funk last time I was there. Even E-Gaming 2005 wasn't that bad XD. The arcades are also not as crowded so I had an easier time getting to an open DDR machine and Para Para Paradise machine.

It's usually best to bring a buddy with you if you're wandering around late outside the SJCC domains or something. It's really scary if you don't know your way around... I know it's best to bring a buddy if you plan on visiting a con buddy(recent friend you made at Fanime) in their hotel room or somewhere where there's less people present for safety reasons, especially if alcohol is involved. But if you drink responsibly, it won't be a problem.

Unfortunately my friend last year was a victim of a stranger she recently met and it wasn't pretty, so I'm hoping more people will take safety precautions and report any type of abuse to Con Ops or Rovers if they're in a bad situation.

whoa.. yeah. I totally agree with the couple here that have mentioned not to wander alone at night.

ESPECIALLY in costume. In fact, if you are a girl and you are going to be wearing anything that concerns a dress of some sort, bring an escort with you. Last year, I came in contact with a person who continued to follow me around (the ONE time I went onto the con floor in costume w/out a male with me. d'oh.), and I couldn't seem to be able to excuse myself from his presence until I thankfully, ran into someone that I knew.

So just keep in mind to be with someone if you are definitely a girl and cosplaying. There will be people even during the middle of the day that may try to harass you, and I'm sure it's the other way around with a guy and a girl following them around. (But as a girl I've only seen my end)
Just be sure to be conscious about it, and also pay attention to how someone you first met is acting around you. There is always the possibility that you could be making them uncomfortable, when it isn't your intention. Fanime is awesome, but a lot of people are on adrenaline highs, so it can happen on accident if you are you know.. bouncing around them going "OHMIGAWDOHMIGAWDOHMIGAWD IT'S A YUKI!!"

But it someone is literally following/stalking you, look for a Rover. They can help you out. And if you can't see a rover, go to a room, like the dealer's room, or arcade, where there are people watching the doors for badges. Let them know and they usually have walkie-talkies I believe.. or at least have a way to get in contact with someone.

I spent most of the night in an elevator in the marriot with 2 boys i just met. For the most part we glomped anyone who came in and that was fun entill around 2 when the drunks started to leave there rooms.
At one point we pressed all the buttons then a drunk came in at about the 14 floor and we were stuck in the elevator all the way down stoping at every floor. He had puke down his shirt and seemed to be a violent drunk as he stated hiting the mirror and the door. we were so afrad of leaveing we just stayed in individual corrners hopeing not to be hurt. He tried to come onto me once but gave up when i said no.
later the next day we went back to the elevator and that guy came in again (sober now) and we were look bettween each other not know ing what to do, and he was like "have i seen you guys before?" and we said "Uhh, yeah"

That was really the worst thing that happend to me. Mostly nights are fun but do remember to get some sleep.

It looks blury to me kuz I am always so sleepy at tnight LOL JK. Its fun at night. Sometimes I forget its night. They have lots of fun events at night like the masquerade. The Masquerade is my favorite!

Old guy at night... I heard rumors from a staff member about that. And I saw that same guy one night passed out next the building near the convention. I didn`t think it was him, despite there was a bike next to him.

Also, night is fun. I loved the all night showing of Higurashi, despite I had to work the next day and watching the computer blue screen'd during episode 19 during Shion's arc xp

That's not to say FanimeCon late at night isn't awesome as well, since I got invited to go play a game of Fluxx heart

We played it in my high school's anime club all the time, though I couldn't find where they were playing it during Fanime T.T

Though I am in agreement, mid day is really the best. In '06, I was so tired I almost fell asleep in the showing of Air, and we had no hotel room...con hoboism only has its perks until you want sleep *does not plan to EVER repeat that experience*
