Another vote for "phe!" It's nice and unique.

"Phe" sounds interesting. I personally use "s/he" though when I am not too sure, or if I'm trying to keep the writing gender neutral. I know it's not correct, nor a word, but it's the only thing that I were able to think of.

Okay, if we use phe as the subject form, we need new words for the object and possessive forms (him/her, his/her, his/hers). Any suggestions?

'They' and 'their' are gender-neutral already. ^^;

I suggest:

Singular-
Phe - nominative "phe likes food"
Pher - posessive, "pher food"
Phem - accusative "We killed phem

Plural-
Phi - nominative "phi like food"
Phir - posessive, "phir foods"
Phim - accusative "We killed phim"

This is silly! But we could use a word like this.

Oh yes, this bothers me oh-so-much. I myself am guilty of using the 'they' thing. Shame on me! Especially since I know it's wrong. Awful.

I'm very confused in situations like this. Because 'it' just sounds so harsh.

Learn Spanish.
They truly do use "it" a lot.

Blagh. The English language can be a pain sometimes that way... French isn't much better.

Daaah. If we introduced a new pronoun, no one would remember it. Like -Swamp Sparrow-, I tend to pluralize things too.

wahmbulance Why must pronouns be my worst french grammar point? I suck at them! wahmbulance

French used to not have a gender at all.
