The large rat took the Shock spell rather horribly. The rat's hair quickly burnt and it died on the spot. Suddenly, the room filled with an odor of over-cooked meat. Zeke's eyes began to water at the foul stench.

However, he grasped onto his staff and prepared for the other two rats, but he noticed that they were cowering along the side of the cell. Quickly he smiled, and then he called upon the same spell he had grown accustomed to.

Sparks danced along his finger tips and they raced towards his palm. All of the sparks met at the center of his palm and quickly began to form a ball of electricity. Bringing his hand back, Zeke quickly shot it forward.

"Now it's your turn! Spark!"

The electricity raced from his hand and towards the two scared rats. It crackled and sizzled in the air as it flew towards one of the rats. Zeke's face erupted in an over-confident grin...

"Hey!" Bowser suddenly yells out... "Don't waste your spells on grunts when their running around like that!"

The koopa king's words couldn't ring more true. Before the spell even reaches the target, it begins to fizzle. The walls and bars are made out of a material that absorbs all attacks coming towards them. To top things off, the rats are racing about with no set path. The spell completely misses...

Cross doesn't waste any time as he spins around, easily absorbing the attack, to deliver his own blow. The goomba is sent flying for 20HP... To really put a damper on celebrations, a large "boss" goomba approaches Cross. It doesn't look too happy... To top things off, Peach, Daisy, and Luigi have their hands full. The giant goomba lets out a heart wrenching cry before stampeding towards Cross and Benjamin.

=Benjamin's eyes widen at the nearly human-sized goomba. The things at least several times larger than the previous ones! He just continues to Pray hoping that'll be the best thing to help Cross and beat this thing...=

Feeling his staff connect with something hard, Zeke lifts his staff back up quickly. Hearing a squeek, a thud and then another thud, Zeke examines the extent of the damage he caused.

The rat that he hit directly had apparently bounced off the second one, harming them both. Zeke smiled as he noticed that the rat he had just hit was effectively defeated.

Hiss! The rat that had the dead carcass bounce on him seemed to regain its sense and it positioned itself, ready to attack. Zeke quickly grabbed his staff in two hands again as he charged the rat and swung hard.

"Aaaah!" said the black mage, as he brought forward his staff with a tremendous effort.

Zeke manages a skull-splitting blow and kills the final rat. What he's confronted with next, however, should send shivers down his spine. Is it because of how frightening it is? No! Like Muk from Pokemon, it has this awful, terrible, plug-your-nose stench to it! It's one of those things you'd only meet in the sewers, so it may as well be called a sewer crawler. It has a few rats caught up in the gunky material its made out of... How's it alive again?

What can only be described as the nastiest sound a goomba could ever make now emanates from its throat. That is just before it, almost literally, coughs out its strongest attack. It's a Shades Spark, evil element spell at cost of 15HP. It costs Cross 19HP, and he immediately retaliates with a critical-imbued... "Keyline!" Unfortunately, only his fourth strike lands for 30HP... He staggers back, heaving a breath. He knows he's close to winning... He just needs to push forward!

=Benjamin looks at Cross. He's weakened, but he's certainly not out. He decides to keep up Pray. It's a good thing this skill is continuous...=

The lightning seemed to dissipate quickly along the mukky skin of the creature. Suddenly, the skin of the monster flashed green very quickly. The dungeon was lit up with the odd green, revealing the entire dungeon, but then the greenish light faded and the dungeon was dark again.

The monster moved forward and tentacle-like things erupted from it's skin and slapped Zeke. Staggering back a bit, Zeke planted his staff on the dungeon floor to catch his balance.

Digging through his inner recesses, Zeke searched for an elemental magic attack that would do more damage to the monster. His thoughts shifted to Muk of Pokemon and remembered that ice usually worked well...

Extending his right hand, the air turned cold in front of his palm and a ball of ice formed just inches from his hand, floating in mid-air. Zeke's eyes reflected that of the ice being formed, as his pupils glowed a light blue colour...

"Forecast for today? Slight chance of hail! Frost!" the black mage said as the ball of ice burst forward, exploding into thousands of ice shards...

Zeke gets lucky. A gentle, yellow hue flashes across the skin of the stench-ridden creature as Frost impacts to deal 24HP. The monster quickly retaliates with a 1HP blow.

The goomba staffer seems to be getting desperate as it kicks at Cross two more times. However, he's ready this time as he side steps the first and jumps over the second to deliver a powerful blow for 8HP. He feels as if Charge will only last one more round...
