I oruse commas as well. My classmates tell me they have a hard time following it. I think that's because they can't read beyond a 5th grade level. And there I was, thinking that college would be any better than high school. Silly me.

As long as I understand what is said, and it's spelled correctly, and punctuated so we understand it, I don't care about comma's except the crucial ones.

Example:

The student said the teacher is crazy.

"The student," said the teacher, "is crazy."

As anyone can see here, without the commas and quotations, it sounds as if the student is calling the teacher crazy, whereas when the commas and quotations are implimented, the teacher is calling the student crazy.
