I love playing a Bard. Once I went to play for a Tavern by the docks. They got me drunk my character though it'd be a good idea to strip. They were throwing gems at me. ^_^ Then I was saved by a half-orc fighter AKA a fellow PC from the Pirates trying to take me back to their ship. My clothes that were left behind still hang in that Tavern to this day. But they let me keep all the gold and gems they were throwing at me so I could buy new clothes. LOL All of my dancing and singing checks were awesome and then I failed my will save.

Watch out though you will start to see movies in D20 terms and say whether or not they have a Nat 20 or completely botch something they have done on the screen.

As for Palidans? They have to be a basterd for you to play them well. It's why they are Lawful.

I also have noticed that ninja players hate bards. I have no idea why this is but they do. I haven't met an avid ninja player that liked having a bard in their group. *shrugs*

??????????????????????????????????????

One time my group was adventuring through a desert when we came upon what was at the time the main antagonist of the campiegn covered in blood. He was an extreamly powerful blackguard. We prepared for attack but before anyone got a swing in he challenged the Paladin to single combat. If the paladin did not want to accept, he said, we could go our seperate ways and fight another time. Since our group consisted mostly of lawful people, we had to honor the request, and since the antagonist (Drogen) was so powerful we decided to part ways. We discovered later in the adventure that Drogan had just come from a battle that had been raging for days. We asked the dm at the end of the game how many HP he had had. 10. He had 10 hit points. Had any of us near him succeeded on a spot check (we all rolled really lousy) or a sense motive check, we would have defeated him. crying

My favorite class is Ranger. My first character eventually became a werepanther level 15 Ranger and level 3 Eldeen Ranger (Eberron Prestige Class). I was two weapon fighting specialized and with bite and rake attacks in hybrid form I could get 7 attacks per turn, 9 if I charged.

I honestly favor Arcane Trickster above all else. Roguish classes are just so versatile. Arcane Trickster skills are quite useful. Being able to disarm a trap, or even pick a lock or a pocket 30 feet away is quite useful. Same goes for being able to sneak attack someone that far away. Even more then that you can rely on arcane spells as buffs nukes.

Other then the Arcane Trickster, there's also the Ray Specialist. You can condense AOE spells into "rays" [zap] that get sneak attack bonuses when used on enemies.

If you really want to become a Bladesinger, I would suggest you start out as a bard since it qualifies for all the required traits of Bladesinger.

the best advice i can give an elf palidin is to have fun and beware any player who takes the game like its life and death.

Yeah dude, paladins are pretty fail unless your party is big enough to have a reason to have support characters.
If your DM will allow it I would suggset finding a homebrew race/class that suits your personality as well as play style.

dandwiki.com is the site I always go to; shitloads of v3 n 3.5 stuff, I don't know about anything else.

If you're playing V4.0, QUIT. Go find a V2, 3, or 3.5 group (I suggest 3.5). They simplified things enough from 2 to 3, now they just made it like your playing a modern video game while roleplaying.

As far as actually playing goes... Be very careful about your skill, feat, and stat selection (for leveling up and what roll you decide on). Know your rules perfectly. If you're stuck, search every room you've cleared with a take 20 (automatic perfect role). Be creative; it's what sets DnD apart from console games, as you aren't restricted by the programming. If you wanted to, you could build a hang glider then try to fly it through a forested valley before doing a backflip off of it battle axe in hand to slice a dude in half. Are you gonna make it? prolly not. Point being, if you want to, you can try.

Above all else, be careful, and watch for whatever little hints and clues your DM may give you, no matter how subtle. If your DM is anything like I am; he will take every possible opportunity to exploit your mistakes (in an essentially devilish manner; cold, cruel, sick, and twisted). One day a friend decided he was going to bad mouth, then challenge, then attack from behind (after he was brought to 1 HP) the mayor of my favorite town... He got hung from a tree (by his naughty parts) until he died from being upside down for too long (which is three days, by the way, and an excruciating death if you're hung from a harness)!

So maybe it was a little too far, but I was pissed!

I play (as an NPC, the main baddie) a Beast-fighter cleric with 3 levels in human paragon (paragon doesn't count as a class, humans can have two classes without a penalty). I'll go into detail if you want, but long story short, at level 7, I can make 4-5 attacks per turn at 13-50 some damage (depending on how much accuracy I want to sacrifice) all by the book! As well as being able to heal muhself. twisted twisted twisted twisted twisted

Ok, most of you probably think that the Cleric class is kinda weak, right? Me and my friends disproved that. I was a Chaotic Evil Human Cleric who's weapon of choice was a morning star. Since the campaigns are boring, we decided to rob a bank. This is where being a Cleric was nice. I blinded the three clerks with the continual light spell and killed two of them after I casted the spell where a specific area is bubbled off so that only people in the bubble can hear. My friend, who was a warlock, killed about 8 of the 13 guards that were coming at us. I killed the rest. And then my idiot friend who was a battle mage casted endure elements on a torch which ended up nuking the entire town... That was the best random adventure ever!

Hmm... As a DM this thread is perhaps not my forte... Oh well, I'll share something anyway! Once I killed my entire party off by having the airship they were flying on explode, and it was deemed the best encounter they had ever played
