To be honest, I've never really liked wavemasters in general, they just didn't seem to really do much more other than die until Outbreak for me, if I needed to bring a healer along, I'd load up Kite or someone with healing materials.

I made Kite my healer after a while and made Elk and Wiseman my attackers. Like they would use their really strong magic and kill monsters really fast.
Wavemasters rule. cool

I use kite's healing stuff to heal kite.
The rest is up to elk. ><

Lol and how is she useless? Obviously you don't know the game commands. Mine can do like over 4k damage. Maybe you need to stop giving her sucky weapons, and set her commands right. It's tedious, but you have to set her commands at the start of each battle, although its worth it.

well my Kite and everyone else has Phal Repth(fully heal everyone spell) so i never have to worry about healling much

I remember getting so pissed at the beginning of Outbreak, I had built her up to be my best wavemaster (Which isn't saying much, but still) and then that damn baby comes along, and I lose my strongest magical force in the game, after that, I relied on Wiseman, forcing me to go back and get him certain stuff as well...

Really? I found him pretty useful, I liked to add him and Natsume and do creepy sychronized skill attacks. XD
