It's a joke guys. It's not serious. It made me laugh. The person who thought of that is really smart.

It's equal parts funny and terrifying.

I have to admit that I found the poem quite ironic and amusing. It reminded me a bit of Ishmaal Reed's poems (which do neglect the standard rules of English, but makes it an art form instead of laziness). If you look at it seriously, of course, the poem would make you freak out, but it is obviously a satire (and a quite good satire, I believe, personally).

I wish I had that mix of ingenuity and humor. If I ever develop such a thing, I'll see you in the Writing Arena.

I find that poem hilarious. I had an English teacher one year who put that up on her wall because she got so upset with her students. Apparently a lot of kids handed in essays like that.

I've seen and been reminded of this poem for about 4-5 years in school (ever since third grade... sweatdrop ) and it always somehow amazes me to every end. redface

I have a good headache cure. It's this little-known thing called grammar, works wonders. Just stare at something well-written for a while.

They need an elementary English course.

I rather enjoyed this. It's up on my wall in my room. It's written in satire and to be funny. It's meant to teach people that spell checker doesn't always work.

It's really funny! whee
Don't take the poet too seriously.. Really. Think about the message.

I find the poem to be funny, but I pray it is meant to be a comment on the faultiness of spell checkers.

Spell Check

I have a spelling checker
It came with my PC
It plainly marks for my review
Mistakes I cannot see

I strike a key and type a word
And I wait for it to say
Whether I am wrong or right
It shows me straight away

As soon as a mistake is made
It knows before too long
And I can make the mistake right
It's rarely ever wrong

I have run the program through it
I am sure you're please to know
It's letter perfect all the way
My checker told me so!

I guess I speak English, and understand txt tlk. I guess I'm a translator!

I find it rather humorous. It was never intended to be taken seriously - rather, it was meant to be satire showing how unreliable spellcheckers really are. It is intended to promote careful editing and revision, and not relying on spellcheckers when one could be learning spelling and grammar by oneself. I therefore feel that it supports our message, even though it is quite painful to read if you look at it too long.
