hey! so, i guess I'm a new member. my name is Mina. I'm 19 and I've been on gaia about eight years semi-actively. the first year i was on none stop and am now back into that habit sweatdrop i work at a pub, I'm an artist, a singer, and a jokester. i love to read and i love tea. i collect a lot of stuff people would consider old ladyish, like porcelain dolls, teacups, really old movies and records. I'm a strange mix of incredibly awkward and shy and uncharacteristically outgoing. I'm pansexual, i play the guitar in my free time (though I'm not anywhere near good yet) and i really love gore. i love scary movies and stories, i love running around in the rain or just watching it from my window. i live in a semi remote place covered with trees and a lake. i like chasing geese with a stick when they come on my property and i love how this sounds like a lengthy match.com bio. things that are not great about me/bad habits:
I'm over protective, and feel like it's a personal slight when someone else makes my loved ones hurt or upset.
i smoke cigarettes when I'm stressed, which is pretty often being an artist.
i laugh when I'm nervous/upset
i cry at sad parts of any show or movie (literally cried at steven universe 200000 times) and get emotional listening to music.
most of my time is devoted to listening to music to come up with fantasies to the song. like wars for action songs, sad scenes for sad songs, crazy otherworldly scenarios that i then draw out. kinda cool, but the problem is i tend to prefer doing that to actual interaction or productivity.
I'm 6'1, goth, but despite being moderately intimidating I'm a gentle giant. i tend to love human-kind endlessly and unconditionally, and spread it around. I'm over trusting sometimes I've been told, and incredibly forgiving. sweatdrop nice to meet all of you

I've been on the Gaia since 2005, I donated my main a few years ago when I went on hiatus. I'm currently following my dream of being a comic book artist/author. I love drawing and painting, both traditionally and digitally. I also enjoy making cosplay accessories like ears, tails, horns...etc. Thank you for inviting me to the forum, I've been looking for a community like this. I have crippling social anxiety am kind of shy and a bit neurotic. Hiya! Welcome to the guild! Hooray, another artist! I'm the only one occupying our art subforum right now xD I know a lot of people in comics! It's a tough career path but seems really rewarding if you can make it work. I plan on writing/illustrating one one day, if I can talk myself into not constantly working hahaha. siiiiigh. This is my very first work, so I'm pretty nervous but, I do love a challenge. How do you like doing key animation? I noticed that you mentioned you'd be working on MLP and Cloudy, (That's awesome, by the way). I like it! It's a challenge. I really enjoy drawing, and animation actually is not a lot of drawing haha so I'd prefer to switch departments. But learning to make things move has been a good growth experience. I've always been interested in animation, but I thought there would be a ton of drawing involved so I didn't pursue it. I'm surprised that you say there isn't. What department would you rather work in? Right now I'm aiming for storyboards. A lot more putting the pen down. Animation is all digital now, so it's a lot more like moving a puppet around the screen than drawing. Each scene usually has a couple of things to draw, like new hand shapes or whatever, but you sketch that out and then cleaning it up is dragging vector lines around a screen, soooo.... All in all nowadays animation is more about having a sense of timing.
Ah. I hope you're able to transfer to storyboarding, it does sound like key animation would get monotonous after a while. What kind of projects would you like to work on in storyboarding? |

Anything really. I just think drawing all day every day would be a benefit to my skills. Also learning good storytelling would be awesome. |
