Kana was at the pokemon center with the nidoran she was waiting to hear if the poor thing was okay. The nurse came out to talk to Kana ”The nidoran is to frightened and would not let anyone touch her. Would you come in and try to calm it down?” Kana nodes her head and follows the nurse back. Kana got the nidoran to calm down but it still would not let the nurse touch her so Kana picked her up and placed her on her lap where finally the nurse was able to look at her and tend to her scratches. After it was all said and done Kana took the nidoran back to her and her brothers room that they will be staying at till the rock slide was cleared and they could continue on their journey. She lets out her pokemon and feeds them all then works on picking out a name for the nidoran. She goes through a list of names before finally landing on the name Sakura. To thins name the nidoran perks her ears up and Kana new that it was the right name for her. Once done feeding them and picking a name Kana calls Kakashi, Sizuhiro, and Kohaku back to their pokeballs. Leaving Sakura out so she could get to know her more. After spending some time with her and playing the nidoran was tired and fell asleep on the couch. Bored with nothing else to do Kana decides to go for a walk and messaged Usui to see if he will go with her but he did not respond. Not wanting to go alone she chose to see if Preston would like to walk with her. She takes one more look at Sakura and opens her door but before she could close it the little nidoran came running to her and jumped up kana catching her in her arms. "Okay Sakura you can come to." she said closing the door and walking across to Prestons room. Gently shifting Sakura around she knocks on Prestons door and waits.

To say his news and hidden agenda for his presence was well received was a major understatement from Asta. Through the night of excited chants, drinks, and nearly endless shenanigans, Halston wouldn’t trade this moment for the world. Asta was well.. Just as well near darned cute as she’d been all those years ago in person. She was somewhat well mannered in their voice calls and video chats, so to see her personality again in person was nothing short of a blessing from Arceus themself.

They’d retired to a hotel room Halston had arranged, there had definitely been the uneasiness of each other’s pokemon preferences. Their Pokemon however had different opinions on the matter, and their shenanigans carried on well into the night. Perhaps with time, their trainers would be able to conquer any fears or insecurities they had about their various Pokemon phobias, but who could truly know the answer to that?

As Halston woke in the morning with Theros still about with him, he tried his darndest to avoid waking Asta in her bed. Unaware that she’d actually already left for a morning run, it wasn’t until Halston had ventured out from his shower that things started to add up. Nearly jumping in his own skin, Halston laughed slightly at the sudden scare. Theros though, upon Asta’s arrival back to the room, had spent the majority of the time running circles around her position before hopping onto the bed to bounce about. ”Goodness, that was quite a morning jump scare for me heh. Good morning to you as well Asta.” Finishing up cleaning his glasses, the pink haired researcher only leaned against the wall as Asta began a small bicker with Zoro.

Seeing that Zoro had been the actual body in the bed, Halston could only laugh to himself over the incident. How could he assume Asta ever slept in at all? As they were doing a small fight over the plush Pokemon he’d gifted her, his attention drew to the discussion of the route being blocked. ”Well that certainly does hamper any sort of advancement in our part. However,” He stepped towards the window, looking to the outside world ”It would give us a chance to explore the local area for information, clues, and even to experience first hand the territory potentials for what I’m searching for.” Turning in tow to speak directly to his partner, Halston had a determined look to his face. ”Alright! Let’s set out and seize the day.” This rather epic moment was quickly diminished by a stomach growl of hunger. Perhaps he’d better eat first…

”Actually.. Breakfast does sound good. Theros and I will follow you Ms. Chefly Guide.” He gave a nudge to her elbow at this gesture, heading out of the hotel after they readied for the day. Aside from his clothing, the only objects he brought along was a messenger bag full of a few notebooks, a camera, and some food to feed Theros. Out of all of his pokemon, Theros was the least well behaved and often would run off if given he opportunity. Walking about with Asta was.. Nice, a pleasant reminiscent thought of their initial meeting drifted through his thoughts. ”Say Asta.. while we are having to spend the day in Beocht or nearby, perhaps you can start a potential lead for me. In your lifetime of adventuring through this landscape, have you seen anything mysterious around this area? Or more importantly...” He leaned in, speaking in a hushed manner. ”Any Legendaries that you’ve encountered?” Truth be told Halston hadn’t truly asked Asta for any leads about what she knew of ancient ruins or the like here. Perhaps in his own mindset he’d believed she would have told him in one of their numerous chats if she had.

Following Asta to the marketplace, Halston mostly kept to his own devices, simply following along the red head as she bounced between he booths, picking out ingredients or supplies they’d need. When it came to paying for said ingredients, he was quick to approach the booths and provide the funds needed, often providing a small smile alongside with it. Theros though.. Had other plans. The moment they were in the marketplace he was eyeing nearly EVERYTHING, his little grabby hands wiggling with anticipation of eagerness. He wanted food, and he wanted it now. Halston withdrew some small bits of food for him, offering it to his prehistoric Pokemon pal, but it seemed he was already drawn towards the aroma of something off in the distance. In an instant, Theros was off and running from the trainers. ”Theros no! Come back here!” The researcher called out, making a run after his rather evasive Pokemon. Oh what an interesting first full day of his own adventure.

Preston had every intention on visiting the Gym later on that day of not the day after, after visiting Route 60 to figure out a. It was only that morning that he learned about the rockslide that blocked Route 61, and from his window in the Pokemon Center he could see where the road turned toward the Route. He had only come back to his room after getting something to eat for breakfast. Scrap sat meditating on the bed while Preston packed his clothes and slung his backpack over his shoulders. He waved Scrap off the bed and reached for the door handle, only to hear a knock at said door. The timing couldn't have been better. The blonde opened the door, seeing the red-haired girl standing there with the Nirdoran. "Kana, hi."

The small purple Pokemon seemed to be more at home in Kana's arms, if a little fidgety. It amused Preston watching its nose busily sniff about the strange environment. Scrap pulled up beside his trainer and tilted his head as he looked at Sakura. "She looks better," Preston remarked as he walked out with Kana, wondering what she had come to see him for. Even though the sun was past its zenith, he remembered that there was not much rush anywhere with Route 61 blocked off and the gym not going anywhere anytime soon. He'd stick with Kana for little bit.

"Talent, Effort. They're meaningless before me.
I will crush your hopes and dreams if you block my path.
This isn't a game where everyone can win together.
Only a few can make it to the top and I will be one of them."

Hikaru and Leo were eating some peanut butter bars as Hikaru was debating on just facing the first gym leader with just Leo, he was getting bored of the lack of pokemon he was finding in the area as he was hoping to catch a Ralts and or a Nidoran that were known to be in the area. As a Ralts would be perfect for his team due to it's type and move set, while Nidoran worked well especially against the gym Hikaru is about to face. Plus would be great later on as well. The common Starly, and Sentret in the area that he kept running into were all too basic and wouldn't be great against the rock type gym he about to face. Starly would be okay but didn't see a reason for the flying type especially at the moment as it would be a bit of a time sink as he could find better pokemon unless it show heavy promise. However as a Rockruff pop out of the tall grass, Hikaru jump at the chance to grab one as it would be a good tank for his team. "Leo, use water gun." Hikaru says pointing towards the puppy pokemon. The Water type shoots out a blast of water hitting the Rock type and knocking it back a bit as it soaks it with his attack. The Rockruff charges at Leo and hits it with a tackle knocking the water type back "Now, use rapid spin" As the squirtle jumps towards his opponent before tucking into his shell and hitting the puppy pokemon knocking it down again. The Rock type show some grit and got back up though Hikaru it was on it's last legs and had Leo attack again with rapid spin to finish the pokemon off to be captured. The rock type was trying to get back up but before it could Hikaru threw a pokeball towards the pokemon. After hitting square on the forehead the ball quickly suck the pokemon up in a beam of light and the ball landed wiggling a bit before the light in the middle when out and made the capture sound to let you know the pokemon has been caught.

"Great job Leo" Hikaru says as he goes over to pick the pokball up and let out his new pokemon. The rock type pop out a little confused and worried but after Hikaru handed him one of the peanut butter bars he had the pokemon quickly sniffed it before eating it happily. Hikaru took that as the Rockruff liking the bar, and hadn't had a name thought out for the guy but thought "Rakkasei" due to the bar might work, he wanted something a bit more original than "Rocky" now. Hikaru wanted to name his pokemon something more than a cheap common name. The name should mean something more than a simple pun, at least something that could mean something to the pokemon itself. So a name after the first meal after being capture would work. "How about Rakkasei?" Hikaru asked the Rockruff. The pokemon tilted his head for a second then barked happily. "Great your name is Rakkasei" Hikaru says. Two would be plenty to beat the gym Hikaru thought as he heads back into town, Leo should be able to sweep the gym but Rakkasei should be able to at least take out one or even two depending on the gym leader. Plus even just using Rakkasei to see what his opponent strategy should be good enough to lock in the win. Hikaru started to set everything up on the phone to get ready for his gym match as he was heading back to town with his two pokemon following them and playing together as Leo and Rakkasei became quick friends. Normally Hikaru would have his pokemon in their balls while traveling but spending forever he figured he other get a rare pokemon pop up if he let them out or nothing would happen. Which came past as Hikaru walks back into town and heads to the pokemon center to heal up his pokemon and get ready for his gym battle.

"I don't fight for justice, peace, or the good of the world.
I simply fight for myself and my pokemon team
So no matter what reason you have for being in my way, good or bad.
I will beat you and all in my way to reach my goals."

Ari Taniuchi Pokemon Trainer from Nacrene City

The sound of his voice made her grit her teeth, it felt like she was right back in that moment where Caius had been talking to her right after the run in with the hoard of Nidoran. Her movements felt forced as she staggered over to where Newt lay. Kneeling down besides him, Ari heaved out a heavy sigh as she carefully slid her hands under his small body and lifted the critter up and into her arms. Cradling him close to her chest, her attention returned to the man, watching as he began to walk away. Before he left though, he seemed to have decided to leave her with a bit of advice. Whether she took it or not, well, that was up to her. Basically, they weren't going to get anywhere until they toughened up..

She wished it wasn't so clearly written on her face how devastated she was with her loss, that she could shove down the anger boiling inside her at the knowledge that already she'd lost her first Gym Battle. At least she wasn't crying, because she didn't want to risk anyone seeing her weakness as she left, not even sparing a glance towards the next challenger who had been there to witness her defeat.

It didn't take her long to arrive back at the Pokemon Center, feeling as if it hadn't been that long since she had left. But, if she had taken a look at the sky during the walk back, she would have noticed the slow shift of the sky. By the time Newt was healed up from the fight, noon had passed and it was falling onto lunch time. She hadn't felt hungry, but she snacked on a few grapes while she waited for the Pokemon Nurse to inform her that Newt was better. His wounds tended to, he smiled up at the red head as if he didn't feel any anger at her for how she'd rushed into the fight without either of them having prepared for it.

Taking a seat onto her shoulder, the Snivy glanced over to where he heard a television playing what looked to be cartoons. With a grape held between his claws, the grass type Pokemon couldn't help give a small snicker to himself as the cartoon played out. It was amusing to watch, as a Persian was trying to come up with a plot on how to catch a very cunning Rattata. At one point, he had tugged on the collar to Ari's shirt to get her to look, but the thirteen year old brushed him off as she tried to think of something they could do to take on the Gym again.

They could head back to route 60, attempt to catch themselves a wild Pokemon back onto the route they'd previously traveled on. Would a Nidoran or Rockruff be helpful in defeating Flint and his Rhyhorn? Maybe, but it would also mean trying to find a group to go back, as she had caught all warning signs on trainers who tried to go off on their own. There was a mine shaft nearby, wasn't there? As far as she was aware, there hadn't been any warnings against entering the mines, besides, with Beocht being a mining town, she would technically be under some supervision without having someone follow her. "That's it."

Grinning to herself, she had her mind set now on locating the mines. There had to be something easy she could find there that her and Newt could take on, maybe a Zubat or some other type of Pokemon.

Grabbing another handful of grapes, she handed another one to her companion before shoving the rest into her jacket pocket. Now with a snack for the two of them, she double checked to make sure she had pokeballs on her on the small chance she found a Pokemon she wanted to catch. She also had a few healing sprays, hoping that they wouldn't get in too bad of a fight while out there.

Blue eyes remained fixated on the boy as he went to pull something out of his pockets, observing him closely. To be frank, the boy did raise some curiosity in her. Never in Solana's life had she encountered someone like him. Strange eyes, spiky hair, and where those....fangs? Soly could not be certain that this boy was, in fact, a boy at all. He closely resembled a Pokemon more than a person to the point where, if fit her aesthetic more, she would have probably seriously considered catching him. Still, the boy seemed harmless enough; however, Soly's mother and daddy always warned her about the dangers of interacting with a wild Pokemon.

The brunette's attention snapped back to the older female. Although Solana did have a few questions as to why she decided to have her hair two different colors, she did have to admit that the older female pulled it off. In fact, she was surprisingly pretty and the only other female Soly has encountered close to her age. When she mentioned that no gym lessons were being offered, but agreed to help the pair regardless and free of charge! It was very surprising how much help the girl has received from people who just wished to help. She supposed that mother and daddy did not need to send her more money after all.

When the boy introduced himself, a mixture of shock and disgust washed over her. Without allowing the inner turmoil that now pledged Solana to surface onto her face, she took a moment to compose herself. Could this be some sort of accent from an exotic language? Doubtful. Growing up with parents who exposed their daughter to various different regions, Soly could at least tell certain languages apart but not this one. Maybe this boy really was a Pokemon. Her gaze turned to Gray, seeing if perhaps she also shared in her confusion but, it seemed as if it didn't faze the older trainer at all.

However, Vixey did not share her trainer's distraught. Currently sitting by Soly's feet, the fox Pokemon smiled warmly at the fellow Pokemon. "Vul!" Gesturing a hello.

Clearing her throat, Solana opened her mouth to speak. "Ryouta? Hope I'm saying that right. Kinda hard to tell with your accent. I can't even tell where you're from." The wilderness, obviously. Deciding to allow this incident to go unspoken for now, no pun intended, Soly looked up at Gray. "I've never been in a gym battle before, but if its anything like catching Pokemon, I'm sure I'll catch on quick." Choosing to leave out the fact that her Ralts kept on the run for most of their battle together.

LOCATION ▬▬ Route 60 xxx COMPANY ▬▬ Beck xxx MOOD ▬▬ xxx OUTFIT ▬▬

Oh right, new Trainers to the region weren't permitted to head onto routes on their own. Slowly nodding, Hayate wasn't exactly sure why he'd forgotten that. He had just lead a group from Tosach to Beocht due to that reason alone, as the region wasn't safe to traverse on your own. Many young Trainers having been found either attacked by the wild Pokemon that lurked, or nearly missing fingers and toes from the cold. If you hadn't planned for the harsh weather of Citra, you were damn lucky to make it safely to the next city or town. As Hayate scanned the area again, he shrugged his shoulders as he assumed it would just be himself and the young child before him.

"So, you want to catch another Pokemon or two, I gotcha kid." Nodding, he tried to recall what Pokemon were commonly found on Route 60. He'd seen plenty of Nidoran and Sentret, Rockruff were pretty common around there too. Curious, he wondered if Beck was looking for something in particular, or if he just hadn't had any luck in finding anything he deemed worthy when he had first traveled through the route. "This your first time to Citra, or ya new here, Beck?"

Sweeping his hands over his jacket, Hayate made sure he had everything he needed before gesturing for the young boy to follow him as they stepped out of the town. "I'm Hayate Nishioka." Providing the boy his name, either it would be familiar or not, depending on if the boy was native to the region or not.

Then again, he had met a few new Trainers from Citra who were unfamiliar with the Gym Leader and Male Model.

Apollo followed closely behind the two of them, tail swaying as the Espeon listened to the two converse. Hayate allowed Beck to lead, both the man and his Pokemon keeping an eye on the chances of any danger. Allowing his curiosity to get the best of him, the twenty three year old asked the question that had been on his mind. "Any Pokemon you looking for?"

If he asked, Apollo or any of his other Pokemon he kept on him could move further out and look. He was only aware of one or two spots out on the route where certain Pokemon took up residency, but there was always a chance that they couldn't be found there anymore. Hopefully, Beck wasn't looking for a Ralts, because they seemed to be the most difficult to come across out within the wilds. Hayate could offer to help look for one, but he wouldn't be able to make any promises on finding one easily.

As they moved further away from the town, Hayate hadn't noticed it, but Apollo had picked up the somewhat distant sound of a fight. Ears perked up at attention to the sound, the feline was trying to identify what it could be coming from. Wild Pokemon, or was someone else out on route and in the middle of a battle. Taking a glance towards both Hayate and Beck, Apollo was curious if the two heard the same sounds or if only he could pick it up. Om the chances they didn't, the Espeon moved between them, eyes frequently moving back to look into the direction of the commotion. "Ess!"

Kana smiled when Preston opened the door and came out of his room with scrap right next to him."Hi you two." She said with a smile. She looked at Sakura in her arms as he mentioned that she looked better "Yes she is quite better and quite the feisty little thing. She fought the nurses the whole time I had to have her on my lap for her to calm down enough to let them treat her." she pet the little purple creature looking at it happily "O um Sakura meat Preston and Scrap. Preston Scrap meat Sakura." she said happily pointing to Preston and Scrap in turn as she introduced them to Sakura. The little girl looked in turn at the two as Kana pointed them out to her. Then without a second thought Sakura stood up in Kanas arms and sniffed at Preston. Once she was satisfied she played back down in Kanas arms and closed her eyes. "So i was actually coming to see if you wanted to hange out. Usui has left me alone and I would much rather be around other people." She said with a small smile. Kana did like some time to herself but sometimes it could get lonely. She cant even remember a time where she spent more than 30 minutes by herself. Usually she would be alone for 20 minutes before she would go looking for Usui. She would always find him coming to look for her as well.

Party of 2 - Area: Entering route 60 - Morale: Clear - Dex Count: 3 - Money: 27,100 PD
Team: Rufflet, Starly(NI-Not important), Sentret(NI)
Apps: Phone w/ Contacts - Pory-Tube - Town Map - Klinkstagram - Stat Checker - IV Checker

Beck shifted his eyes to Hayate's Espeon and back to the man. "Um, did you mean to ask if I'm native to Citra?" responded Beck and followed up with "I'm actually native to the region." He nodded when likewise when Hayate introduced himself. He answers his next question "I was hoping to catch a Nidoran male and Rockruff. I am aware there are Ralts in Route 60, but the chance of running into a male is as fair as running into one at all, so, I'll try to aim for something more accessible." It was a good call to try and be realistic with what to catch because he is fighting against time. Once the rocks blocking the other exit out of Beocht, the group will move on, so, he has another opportunity to build his team before he has a chance against the first Gym Leader.

It was fine by Beck to lead off into Route 60. He walks into the snowy trail, but right before running into any indigents of the wild, he had taken notice of the Espeon that seemed to be distracted by something. He couldn't tell what had caught Hayate's Espeon's attention.

His attention deviated from Espeon when he saw a Nidoran Male in sight. "There!" said Beck out loud and threw his Pokeball forward, sending out Rufflet to battle the wild Poison Pin. He orders Rufflet to get the first attack by charging in with Fury Attack, but Nidoran defends with Double Kick, blocking off Rufflet's tow hit combo. "Rufflet, use Scary Face!" shouted Beck as Rufflet frightens Nidoran with that intimidating look on his face. Nidoran braces itself like he's not afraid, but that nerve affected how his legs function. A button was pressed that affected Nidoran's movement. As ordered, Rufflet used Hone Claws and Nidoran concentrated on using Focus Energy. Rufflet struck him with another flurry of jabs from Fury Attack and at the end of the combo, Nidoran retaliated with a stream of Poison Sting. Beck threw the ball once he saw Nidoran's stamina wavering and no time for him to react after using Poison Sting. The catch rate for Nidoran males are above average and since him weakened, he will struggle to get out of the ball until he lost the strength, ultimately caught. He had forgotten about what was Hayate's Espeon focusing on.

In terms of time, if Beck takes too long to earn his first badge, Cody would catch up to him and it would embarrass him if a clumsy kid like him would catch up with him at all.

With something of a ‘pfft’ the lively redhead shook her head at Halston, ”’Territory potentials’. Ya must be the only one I’ve ever heard talk like that. Gotta say though, takes more than a rockslide to get your spirits down as long as there's somethin’ new to look at, eh? ” Asta definitely appreciated that kind of energy! Heck, but the most excited one was definitely Theros, the fossil pokemon was just bursting with energy and excited to get a start to the day~ Zoro, on the other hand, was still groggy! He was quick to roll out of bed once food was mentioned though, Asta snorting a bit at Halston’s rumbling tummy.

Chefly Guide. Well, then here we go, Doctor.” Teasing with a wink, she held the door open for them, returning Crim to his pokeball but leaving Zoro to walk with them. Unlike in other regions, it wasn’t so easy to move produce around Citra, so if one wanted to use fresh ingredients, best to use whatever actually grew locally. Luckily, Asta knew just where to buy, and just what to do with what could be found around these parts~ Whistling a chipper tune as she set a quick pace for them, she had a good idea already what she wanted to do~

Amber eyes flickered over to Halston as he asked about local legends. ”Weeelll, if I had seen a legendary, you would already know about it Hal, would be a lil’ rude keepin’ it from ya, no?” Clicking her tongue, she turned her eyes to the sky as she pondered for a moment about anything she’d heard in the local area. ”There are some tales ‘bout somethin’ big out on route 61, but not really any details. Can’t make it out due to weather, or maybe they are just tall tales. I’ve been out in a big storm in this area before and can’t say I experienced anythin’ extraordinary.” If only it were so convenient that she had though! It had been a heart pounding experience regardless, fondly remembered despite the ever present danger of that situation. ”Maybe we should check to see if anyone has heard anythin’ recent over at the pokemon center? Anyone had a hard time out on the trails, they probably stopped by there.” She wasn’t aware that they were not collecting photos taken out on trail, but once they found that out, maybe the two would stumble upon some clue?

The topic was put on hold once they reached the market. Asta talked warmly with people there although not everyone appreciated her haggling, though they couldn’t argue with her sense of what the ingredients were worth at whatever quality they were at. Halston might not have had a problem paying, but the red head seemed like she’d be damned before she paid an unfair price for anything! Some of those they came across she seemed to know well, and Halston was given more than a few samples of this or that to try as they maybe uh… took more time there than they had originally intended. At least he wouldn’t be starving since there were plenty of little samples to try! It looked like their time at the market would increase more what with Theros taking off towards some smell that seemed to allure the pokemon.

”Rorark???” Zoro called after the hyperactive pokemon, looking with wide eyes between Asta, still holding onto something she had been checking the freshness of, and Theros and Halston who were barrelling away. ”Pft, I dunno why, is kinda funny to be able to watch him run, mm?” Asta mused to her Pokemon, motioning that they should probably follow along. It would take her long to catch up with Halston~ It would be faster to catch Theros with Crim’s help buuuut she knew Halston would probably pass out if she tried to get him up on the fighting type.

WHERE:Beocht Town Pokemon League Gym WITH:Kyouji WEARING:His foreman uniform

After the battle had come to an end and the girl had taken off, the Gym's golden-eyed receptionist made her way over to the young man who snuck into the gym. Moving a lock of her blond hair behind her ear, she held a tablet up as she stood beside him. "You are here to challenge the Gym right? May I get your name?" She asked him as she got ready to record his information down. She had already finished processing Ari's defeat into the data for the League's records.

Seeing the boy on the camera, Flint awaited his receptionist to finish. Getting a good look at this kid, he seemed to have three Pokeballs in use. Finally, a full team! He knew how he'd be opening up then. Upon hearing his healing machine finish, he stood up and grabbed the three Pokeballs and began to attach them to his waist. Guess he could lead off with Tim this time, just to mix things up a little. "Time to make your mama proud kiddo," He said rather softly as he held the Roggenrola's ball in his hand.

Leaving his office, he let out a loud groan. Walking onto his end of the battlefield, he whistled at the boy and his receptionist. "Lassie, don't make me or that boy keep on waiting. We both know why he is here!" He announced, folding his arms over his chest. With a deep breath, he chuckled to himself. That girl was stubborn about getting the information for the league. "I'm Flint, the Gym Leader of the Beocht Town Pokemon League Gym. So tell me, how many Pokemon do you have now? Two? Three? I'll make it an even match for you kid," He declared, starting to toss Tim's Pokeball up and down.

------------------

While the other girl would walk off, Kyouji would see who would be in front of him. This tall lady who seemed to be dressed professionally. Was this how the battle would start? He had to register himself? Then again, the time from when there were tons of Pokemon trainers at the registration days was to be expected. Kyouji would look up to the lady and answer her. "Kuzunoha Kyouji, ma'am." Kyouji said with determination in his voice. No matter what monstrous hurdle was in his way, he wasn't backing down now.

As the gym leader then appeared, he wondered if he could still keep that fearless feeling now. Still, he wasn't going to back down now. The man introduced himself, and Kyouji knew that this wasn't just a trainer, but damn near a warrior. Kyouji definitely had to act the part. "My name is Kuzunoha Kyouji of Goldenrod City. And I have three pokemon with me." Kyouji said, as he stood on his side of the field, taking his first pokeball out.

------------------

Watching his receptionist register the young man's name, Flint was relieved to watch her move towards the bleachers. Yeah, that was perfectly fine. Just as long as she was out of the way. When the boy gave his name in response, he gave him a firm nod of acknowledgement. "You came quite the ways out. Take it there is either something here that interests you, or maybe you moved here. Either way, I am glad you came prepared for a real battle," He told the boy, trying to remain firm in his speech. There was some interest in why he came all the way to Citra, but for now, he was going to give him a good clean fight.

Clenching his Pokeball, the man tossed it up on the air. Releasing his Roggenrola from his ball, he chuckled. "This'll be a three on three battle. The winner will be the one with a Pokemon still standing by the end of it. As the challenger, I'll let you take the first move, but don't think this'll be easy," He said as he stood perfectly still. Accessing the situation, his Roggenrola mirrored him. Unmoving, the Pokemon seemed to be waiting for Kyouji to send out his Pokemon and make the first move.

------------
So it begins. As soon as he would send the pokemon out, Kyouji would see it. Roggenrola. A rock type, he knew that. But what could it do, was the real question. As soon as he would look down, he would see the pokeball in his hand. ”You and me, together. Artemis! Come on out!” Kyouji would command, summoning the Ralts. He named her Artemis, as she would have this radiant feel to her. ”Disarming Voice!” He would command. Artemis would rush forward, before shouting a wave of pink heart shaped energy at the Roggenrola.

--------------

As the boy made his choice, Flint looked at the Ralts. Interesting first Pokemon! It was a rare one too around these parts. He had seen many of the kids came in with a Rockruff or something from the mines, so this was bound to be a decent battle. When the boy issued the command for Disarming Voice, his Ralts was quick to act. Unleashing a vocal boom from her small frame, pink waves struck his Roggenrola. That actually did a bit of damage, huh?

Leaning back after getting hit, his Roggenrola began to straighten up. "Not a bad first hit, but let's get this rolling with something interesting. Tim, set up Stealth Rocks," Flint ordered, keeping his arms folded. Following instructions to a dot, the Roggenrola summoned up a few rocks from the ground. As they started to float around the field, they suddenly disappeared. The boy likely had not seen this before, but from here on out, whatever he brought out would be taking a bit of damage.

----------------------

This was good for him. The move had done some start up damage, and really gave Roggenrola a hit. "Good job, Artemis, stay in focus, and keep on your feet!" Kyouji told his pokemon, as she shouted in agreement. As Stealth Rock made it's move, Kyouji had no idea how much of a problem this could become, as he never seen that move used beforehand. "s**t… Artemis, Double Team! Make as many clones as you can!" He commanded his pokemon. Artemis would then clone herself, making some illusions of herself, making herself as hard to hit as possible.

------------

The boy seemed much more complimentary of his Pokemon's effort than he was expecting. This boy might end up being pretty good as a trainer later down. For now, he was still a rookie with a bit to learn. With the Ralts creating illusionary doubles of themselves, he started to chuckle. Well look at that! This boy had a brain cell and was getting ready to have a long fight! "Not a bad move kid! You're definitely a smarter one," He complimented as his Roggenrola seemed to be dizzy trying to identify the Ralts from sound alone.

Thinking about his options rather quickly, he made a rather brash decision. "Tim, use Rock Tomb," Flint ordered, looking out at his Roggenrola. Raising his ear towards the sky, the young rock-type let out a strange crackling noise. Above it, the rocks that made up the field around it began to rise up and swirl. Hurling them as a large ring of rocks, they were sent flying towards a cluster of the clones. Of course, there was no guarantee that any of them were the real one, but if it was amongst them, that must've hurt.

-------------

With the clones surrounding the Roggenrola, it would make it harder to hit Artemis. Instead, when the Rock Tomb move would appear, Kyouji was surprised, as it landed on the very same area where Artemis was. "Dammit! Artemis, stay strong!" That move must have hurt her pretty badly, as she was pretty stretched up from the move. With how she looks, just standing seems to be an issue. But He wasn't going to let Artemis lose just like that. "keep your clones up, confuse him as much as you can… Use Disarming Voice!" he said, as she would fire the same pink heart shaped beam towards Roggenrola. That was the only move she can do that does a good amount of damage to rock types.

--------------

Success! Though Rock Tomb tended to be a less accurate move, the Ralts was hit. That didn't mean she was out though. No, that just meant she needed to put in some more effort. Telling her to stay strong and keep up the clones and begin attacking, it surprised the older man to see a Pokemon so young maintaining their Double Team and attacking. "Gotta admit kid! You are not doing all that bad," Flint complimented the boy as his Roggenrola was hit by Disarming Voice again.

Reacting relatively similarly to the first time it was hit, the Pokemon leaned its body back. Straightening up once again, the Rock type had to readjust himself again. With only a single ear, its hearing was a bit shaky by the time the waves ceased. "Give'em a good Heabutt," Flint said rather slowly. Able to hear his trainer, the Roggenrola began to charge at the nearest clone before flinging himself at them. Phasing through it, he began to do the same again and again, seeking out the real one.

------------

He wasn't going to just let Artemis get hurt in this fight. Whether or not she loses, she'll fight to her best. "Keep the clones up! Watch for an opening!" The Ralts was in her highest alert, watching as the Roggenrola, was smashing through clones with it's headbutt. "Now! Disarming voice!!" Artemis would let him get closer, as Kyouji commanded her to use a clone to dash out of the way, and counter with Disarming voice.

-----------

As the boy's Ralts reacted to his command, the young Pokemon dodged last second. Unleashing a powerful Disarming Voice, the Roggenrola let out a loud hiss and fell forward. Knocked over, Tim was out. Returning the son of his Gigalith to his ball, Flint gave the boy a quick clap. "Not bad! Not bad at all!" He exclaimed as he put the Roggenrola's ball back onto his vest. Taking his next Pokeball off, he tossed it into the air.

Emerging from the Pokeball was his next Pokemon. Materializing before them was a rather impressive specimen of an Onix. Roaring out, she looked down at the field and stared at the Ralts and their clones. "Tammy, use Rock Tomb!" The man commanded, receiving a subtle nod from his Onix. Hurling rocks at the Ralts clones at a much faster speed, it was clear his Onix was much more experienced than the Roggenrola, but a much bigger target.

---------------

After defeating the Roggenrola, Kyouji can tell that Artemis had leveled up. What he didn't know, is that she learned a new move. Hopefully that can put her at an advantage. Sadly, before she could react the next pokemon was already out, and would send out a powerful version of Rock Tomb. That was too fast for Artemis to handle, getting hit badly from the rocks, as she fell over and would stay on the floor fainted, with spirals in her eyes. "You did great, Artemis… thank you so much." he would complement her as Kyouji returned her to her ball. For a pokemon he just caught, she was really good at this. Now it was time for him to be serious too. Looking at the pokemon in front of him, he scanned it, seeing it was an Onix, but very different somehow. Were they always this big? He didn't have time to worry about that, as he would summon his next pokemon Piplup. He was a strong starter, and can possibly hold his own against Onix. "Rush in with Pound! Don't let him get the upper hand!" He commanded, as Piplup would charge in for a punch.

----------------

With the Ralts' defeat, Flint was excited to see where this fight could go. His Onix let out a low grumble as her rocky body began to twist and turn. Awaiting what was to come next, the two were not shocked to see the Piplup. So, that was one of the new starter Pokemon, huh? It definitely looked like a sturdy water-type. Time to see if Tammy had what it took to fight it!

...Maybe a bit more than he thought? When the Piplup was ordered to attack, the boy went for a Pound. Watching as the young Pokemon ran up to his Onix and smacked her with their flipper, the Onix slowly looked down at the Pokemon. A low growl escaping from her maw, the Onix was prepared to fight back. "Tackle'em!" He ordered, before the Onix nodded in response. Roaring, the Onix's body lifted up and curved around a nearby rock, all leading up to her ramming her head into the smaller Piplup.

------------

That Onix really was too big. Kyouji saw that the Pound had punched into the Onix, but that's all it ever did, just lightly scuffed on the Onix, but it obviously made barely any little effect on it other than a slight chip. Soon, it was coming in hot at Piplup. "C'mon, Piplup, keep yourself strong! Be ready for it and Growl!" instead of dodging, the Piplup would growl at the Onix who's head was heading very fast towards him. It knocked him up in the air, but Piplup had braced himself for it. "Don't let her take you down so easily! Back in focus! Rush in with Pound again!" Kyouji wasn't going to lose so easily to this. As Piplup flipped back up again, he would stand on his feet, before dashing in with his flipper in a fist, punching the Onix again.

-----------

Reducing the force used on her attack, Flint's Onix backed off after the strike had been made. Interesting! The boy knew how to use a few stat reducing moves already. How lucky for him and Tammy it wasn't Leer or anything like it. However, it still was going to affect his Onix until the battle was over. That would be fine for now. When the young Piplup charged and slammed his flipper against her side, she let out another low growl at the weaker hit.

"Tammy, use Bind," The man gave a sudden order for. Taking the order immediately, the Onix began to let out a crackling hiss. Moving her tail around the Piplup, she suddenly coiled around where the Pokemon was. Her rocky body rotating briefly, she was trying to crush the Piplup in quite the brutal manner.

-----------

"Piplup!!!" He shouted as the Piplup was held down by Onix. That attack really didn't do much, and it showed. If Piplup had known a water type move, this would have been easier. He really didn't know that normal types did barely a thing to rock and ground types. Sadly, he's seeing that happened currently. "Keep using Pound! Try to break out!" Kyouji said, as the Piplup would keep slamming his flipper down onto Onix's rock body that was gripping him.

--------

Relentless, wasn't he? Even while his Piplup was restrained, he was figuring out a solution. Ordering him to keep attacking, Tammy was very visibly taking damage. It wasn't a lot, but it was still damage regardless. Releasing a faint growl, the man's Onix glared daggers at the Piplup who was smacking the hell out of her again and again. "Tammy, keep it up," Flint ordered as the Onix started to try to crush the Piplup even faster. That might have been of her own accord though. She was mildly annoyed by the penguin Pokemon.

------------

Something was weird. It was almost as if the very same thing that was happening to Piplup was happening to Kyouji too. He felt as if he was suffocating, and could barely even breathe. "C'mon… don't let up on her…" Kyouji would softly say to his Piplup. The fact that he was gritting and kept on punching down on the Onix showed that Piplup would get weaker and weaker with each hit. Soon, he would softly tap the rock with his flipper, not once giving into the intimidation from Onix before he would ultimately fall limp with spirals in his eyes from defeat. "Dammit… Come back!" he said returning Piplup from Onix's grasp. "You did great… we'll beat 'em next time, I promise you that!" he said to the ball. This was his last Pokémon, and honestly, he was nervous about this. The pain that his Pokémon went through just by fighting these guys were beyond what he expected, and more. Were gym battles always going to be this difficult? Taking the last ball out, he would sigh and put the ball to his head, softly whispering something inaudible to the pokeball. "Let's go, Byakko!!" There, he tossed the last pokeball, which showed to be Shinx. A Liger cub Pokémon, and he would already be baring his fangs at the Pokémon in front of him. "We're not gonna lose so easily!" Kyouji would say, with the same determined look as the Shinx in front of him.

-----------

As the Piplup continued fighting back, Flint could see the boy was having a similar reaction. That was fascinating. It looked like he was starting to choke a little? Perhaps he was feeling sympathy pain? Clicking his tongue, his Onix responded by loosening her hold as the Piplup finally fainted. Watching the boy return his Piplup, he wondered what would be next. Maybe a Rockruff, Nidoran, or maybe he caught something in the mines. Oh, that would be quite the fun little brawl, wouldn't it?

When the boy pulled out his next Pokeball and sent it out, he was a bit surprised to see the Shinx. An electric type against a Rock-Ground? He was fighting an uphill battle at this point, but he wasn't going to take it easy. "Alright kid! Let's keep this going! Tackle!" He shouted out. Roaring in response, his Onix dove down and charged at the Shinx. She probably was about at three-fourths of her maximum health, but she was still ready to fight.

-------------

And so the fight began. Kyouji and Byakko were both firm seeing the Onix charge in. "Byakko! Dodge!" Luckily, Byakko had a great amount of speed, as he would leap on the side of where Onix would strike, and just like Kyouji, would see the opening. "Bite!" Byakko was told. He would rush in and has his fangs out, sinking them into the side of Onix, biting down hard with its dark type move.

------------

Much to his surprise the Shinx was faster than he had expected. Dodging the larger Onix with relative ease, the young Pokemon made one thing clear immediately. He was this boy's ace Pokemon! Alright, that only made things more interesting. An Electric-type with a disadvantage, made for quite the underdog in battle! Watching as it bit down on his Onix, he chuckled to himself.

His Onix rearing her head towards the much smaller Pokemon, Flint nodded. "Gotta admit it kid. You're not bad. You'd probably clear this Gym after toughening up a bit," He started to compliment the boy, all while his Onix opened her maw. A green-ish flame swirling inside began to bellow out as she awaited the order. "But we're ending this now! Dragonbreath!" He shouted out, his Onix spewing out the powerful flame from her maw at the Shinx that had quite the hold onto her side.

----------------

To much of Kyouji and even Byakko's surprise, what happened next was something that neither of them had ever seen or dealt with. A whole brand new move that he honestly wouldn't expect an Onix to do. The Shinx was ready for anything, but he never saw a Dragon Type move before. "Byakko, dodge it!!!" He shouted desperately. Instead, he saw first hand that Byakko just stood there in shock and fear as the purple flame had torched him relentlessly. Letting out a scream, Byakko was consumed by the flames, as it critically hurt him, causing him to fall over against the floor. He was unresponsive with spirals in his eyes, showing he fainted. Kyouji seeing this was left in absolute shock, as he fell to his knees. He didn't think the odds were stacked this much against him. This really was a whole new world for him, and just having some knowledge really showed Kyouji that it wouldn't equate to experience. Returning Byakko to his poker all, he looked down at the ball. Was that really it?

-------------

As the Shinx was taken down by the Onix, Flint let out a soft sigh. He watched as the boy returned his Pokemon to their ball, before reaching up and taking the hard hat he was wearing for show off. Running his hand through his hair, he walked across the battlefield. Passing his Onix, he came up to the boy as he was on his knees. Crouching down, he patted the boy on the shoulder. "You did well. I think you've got some spunk kid. Pump up your team a little, and I think you'll beat me next time," He complimented the boy, before getting back up.

Returning his Onix to their ball, he let out a groan. That was a bit of overkill there, but that Dragon Breath was a lot stronger than he expected it to be. Walking across the more torn up battlefield like it was nothing, he made his way back into his office and put Tammy and Tim's balls on his personal healing machine. He was silently hoping someone would beat him today, but he figured it might be a bit before then at this rate. Oh well! Better that they face his wall of a team, instead of coming in horribly unprepared for what else the region had.

Scrap smiled up at Kana as he walked out ahead of Preston, before looking looking at the ornery little Nidoran who darted back and forth with every new scent it found. He didn't think the rodent Pokemon would be an effective fighter just yet, but there was a spirit about her. Sparx had described it, and now he could see what she was talking about. Preston closed the door behind them as Kana told him where her brother had gone, without knowing where exactly he'd run off to. He didn't mind, though. "Sure, we'll hang out with you," he said with a smile, heading out of the Pokemon Center. Preston tried giving her a scratch behind her large ears, but she curled closer into Kana after nipping at his hand. "Alright, nevermind."

Preston let his Starly out to fly around and enjoy the beautiful afternoon sunshine as Scrap ran after her. Preston walked down the street with Kana on his right. "So I guess Usui is trying to train up for the Gym?" It made sense, if he wanted to take it on. "Feel like getting some lunch?"

Well, it seemed introductions were now all out of the way. Gray's eyes swept over the two once more, watching the short interaction as Soly pointed out the one thing that might be a small roadblock between the three of them. Ryouta's accent. She wasn't sure about the other girl, but it had to take Gray a couple of minute's to slowly play back every word into her head just to be sure she had understood what the boy was saying. She felt bad, knowing that his accent could become a problem with him making friends or conversing with his groups, but if there were others willing to take the time, perhaps the boy wouldn't be so lonely by the end of his travels through Citra.

Shaking her head to clear away her thoughts, the monochrome colored woman gestured for the two of them to follow her as she lead them bout out of the Pokemon Center. It was probably a good idea that she had sent back a few of her party Pokemon that she had arrived with, as the more experienced Pokemon wouldn't help her in trying to show these two what they'd be facing during a Gym. Or at least, not the first two or three.

          "Okay."

Unfamiliar with their location, it took Gray a little longer then she would have liked to find a spacious area, one where nobody would get caught in the way or hurt as she motioned for both of them to stand a distance away from her. "I assume both of you are at least familiar with Pokemon Battles, yes?" She questioned.

She looked to their companions, the boy's Aron and the girl's Vulpix. While Soly had voiced that she had never been in a gym battle, she did mention catching a Pokemon, so perhaps she at least knew how to battle wild Pokemon. Ryouta though, she was unsure on. He did have that Nidoran with him, which she wasn't sure if he had the poison type with him back in the last town, or if it was a recent addition to his party.

Awaiting for both of their answers, Gray reached into her bag to retrieve the pokeball containing her recent catch. While the Sentret wasn't a Pokemon she was use to battling with, the little fella needed just as much experience as these two newbies did. Throwing the pokeball before her, she watched the ballsy Sentret from earlier come springing out.

By the time they began to head back for the Pokemon Center, she figured that they had a basic idea of how Gym Battles went. She wanted to think she did a decent job, but she wouldn't be sure until she watched them take on this town's Gym. Her Sentret, which she had named Meeko, cling onto her shoulder as she walked behind the two.

"So, either of you feel you want to take on the Gym soon?" She wasn't in any rush to take on the Beocht Town Gym yet, she wasn't sure about Soly or Ryouta. But, wanting to know that her efforts hadn't been useless, she wanted to watch both Trainers give it a try. "We can head over there if either of you want to take it on before it get's too dark."

Where: Beocht Town | With: Soly and Ryouta | Thoughts: Let's see what they know..

"Talent, Effort. They're meaningless before me.
I will crush your hopes and dreams if you block my path.
This isn't a game where everyone can win together.
Only a few can make it to the top and I will be one of them."

Hikaru made it to the pokemon center as finished setting up a match with the gym leader. Lucky for him only one other person was in the queue at the moment. Hikaru was quick to add himself after the person and had two hours before his match. This gave him plenty of time to get his pokemon back up to fighting shape for the gym. Since before Hikaru made it back into town, he was able to figure out what his new pokemon Rekkasei moves were and had an idea of what to do for his match. Which though might not be much, wanted to make sure his two pokemon were at 100 percent before he faces the gym leader. Since according to Hikaru's data the gym leader had up to 3 pokemon for his skill level but was sure between his Squirtle and Rockruff. Hikaru was sure he could sweep the gym leader, with it being a Rock gym leader. Leo's type advantage might be enough alone but with Rekkasei's speed, he should be able to help lock it in.

Hikaru knew if this was the gym leader's personal pokemon, that he wouldn't have a chance. Though being a starting trainer and having no badges, the gym leader will use basic pokemon as most regions do. Giving most trainers a chance with planning and proper training. Though Hikaru could keep looking for pokemon, his impatience was getting the better of him however, he knew with this gym he could win with Leo if he was smart about it, and with his new pokemon, he figured he could just power thru and get his badge with just two pokemon. It wouldn't be easy but it was worth the risk which to be fair was little to none. Mostly just pride.

As he gets his pokemon back from the nurse he heads out towards the gym only stopping to grab a drink from the vending machine. Hikaru had a mix of emotions going as he gets closer to the gym. He had done small tournaments and all before. Especially during his time at the academy. Just the weight of it being his first official league match was giving it a different weight than he was used to. The excitement he was feeling made Hikaru have a spring to his step. As he entered the gym he finishes his can of iced green tea and tosses it in a recycle bin before heading to the front desk to check-in and wait for his match as he got there a little early and figured it is better to wait in the gym rather at the pokemon center or elsewhere. Plus the other person might not last long, Hikaru seems to always find himself stuck around helpless trainers who think this will be like a simple video game or like a show where all they need is a "positive can-do attitude" and to "believe in themselves".

Hikaru found those types of people very annoying and in a way insulting. As in his mind, it undermines everything he worked and trained for. The same way someone who thinks they can be a 5-star chief if they had the same ingredients and all. Though they quickly learn how wrong they are and how hard being a trainer really can be. Hints why most people quit being a trainer early on. Unable to go forward. As many can't win enough badges, or lose too many times and lose heart. Some think they win if they kept on going, but a quote Hikaru had told one of his "one-sided rivals" during his time in the academy after beating them yet again asking why they couldn't even win once. "If getting up after a fall and trying again was really all it took to win, then we'd all be winners, wouldn't we?"
"I don't fight for justice, peace, or the good of the world.
I simply fight for myself and my pokemon team
So no matter what reason you have for being in my way, good or bad.
I will beat you and all in my way to reach my goals."
