Americans can go, but it costs you $20 more to get into the country I think. smile
Most Vietnamese are eager to welcome American tourists and to show them that there is so much more to the country than war. You might get a few negative comments, but hey, your government did kill more than 3 million of their people.. ninja

Well, considering that their soldiers used dirty tactics and won, it sorta balances that out. Although, I do admit, I wouldn't blame them for not liking me...

Oh no, that is not a discussion we should be starting.
(But dirty tactics? Who made the rules of war? Whose country was it? Which side had the overwhelming support of the Vietnamese population? Which side refused to hold democratic elections? Vietnamese strategies thoroughly fascinate me. Dirty or not, it did enable a small country such as Vietnam to kick out six enormous empires.)
Ehem, sorry about that.. Let us not go there, I have already spent too many drunken nights arguing with Americans over this. whee

I know, for a fact, that I shouldn't trust what I read from American text books over this issue. The American Military shouldn't have invaded, and those people who weren't part of the war but were killed didn't deserve it. The Mai Lai massacre is enough to warrant their hatred.
Well, that settles that.

I've seen too many terrible things committed by both sides not to be provoked by this subject, it is difficult not to get a bit carried away.
When it comes to the painting it is as good as done. Only hair-shading and some minor details left, so hopefully I will have it ready over the weekend. I've made a lot of changes, and completely repainted Ida so I am much happier about it now. biggrin

Eh, violence gets everyone worked up. It's kinda hard NOT to be worked up over it. It makes you human. Don't worry about it.
Well, I don't have any doubt that this drawing will blow me away. I mean, geez, YOU'RE drawing it, so it can't be bad at all.

Yeh, I kind of have to do my exam first since it starts in 4.5 hours and I've still got three continents to go. rofl
Violence is terrible, but seeing foetuses deformed by agent orange to the point where they don't even resemble human beings, and meeting people who lost most of their family in the American War, the rest of them in the Chinese war, and then nearly starved to death under land redistribution programs gone terribly wrong.. Myeah, not much fun.

Hello! Sorry about disappearing from the guild. School and work ate up a lot of my time. Especially this course on African culture and politics I just started, most of my evening was spent studying the impact of zombie armies on the South Africa labour market, and the magical credit cards given out all over the continent by the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. 3nodding heart

Zombies are interesting to read about, but not so awesome in real life, apparently some 600 people were killed in 1996 because of suspicions that they were practising witchcraft and/or making people into zombies in the northern region of South Africa. confused
I was at a halloween birthday party on saturday, that was fun, a lot of cool costumes. And it was pretty scary because I met my ex again for the first time in a year (it did not end that great) and her new girlfriend which turned out to be an old friend of my date, so we ended up talking with them most of the night. Everything turned out okay though, and I had a fun night. smile
Otherwise everything seems to revolve around exam preparations and travel plans. There is just not enough time or money to get things done..
